I love the simple yet elegant design of the datejust 41

On the contrary, to me, I'm less worried about scratches on my Datejust than my Sub or Explorer. It's much easier to refinish a fully polished case, whereas with contrasting polished/brushed cases, those sharp edges need to be finished just right. Hence I'm not afraid at all to knock my DJ around, but with the Sub and Exp I'm super careful!
I guess so but can't help but love the satin finish.
I decided to get both watches, though I have the datejust 41 in dark rhodium instead of the datejust ii in black as shown in your video. My datejust 41 is better for work because it slips under a cuff easily and smoothly and sits much lower on my wrist. But with casual wear, I feel the submariner looks and feels better and is sportier. It’s also fun to go between two watches. Cost isn’t too bad because they are both stainless. Thank you for this review!

Are you happy with the dark rhodium choice ? Or do you regret not going for let’s say black or blue dial
I don't like the shape of the case of the sub, nor the crown guards. Datejust looks better, more classy.

I have the sub. Just bought a datejust II because the submariner can be a bit much at times. I feel like its too flashy especially since mine is two tone. Hell I wear my apple watch over my sub. The datejust is so much more daily friendly and CLASSY
Both are still iconic Rolex timepieces....... Each have their own unique pros / cons imo
Datejust = Best of Rolex's offerings. Whether you go Oyster or Jubilee, Fluted or Non-, it's the brand's best watch.
Submariner is nice & fits most wrists really well, but it's so boring. Really pops in 2-tone black dial or solid gold/black dial, but whatever.
DJ all the day. Day-Date pales in comparison!
I would go for the Datejust with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet.
You need the datejust Ii with the fluted white gold bezel. That one is a beauty

if you've got a sub your second and dressier watch has to be a Datejust with jubilee and fluted it gives a completely different feel but it's still a Rollie
Got a Datejust 41 in August and about November I realized something was missing in my life, oh yeah a sport watch need me a Submariner !! Both sweet watches switch out everyday ! !

I'm with you, Sub is better all around watch that draws less attention. Holds resale value better also! Enjoy the Sub and next pick up a Stainless Steel Sky Dweller to round out your collection. Great watch and nice video comparison!

Can't completely agree. Right now, for a young guy like the vlogger, yes, the Sub is sexier. It's the "killer" watch right now, but I think it's also very close to being over-hyped, or already is. Over the course of, say, 20 or 30 years of your life, the Datejust II will end up being the keeper (although I would stick to the classic fluted bezel). To me, if you just had to have one luxury watch your whole life, that would be it. Wear it at your wedding, or your mom's funeral. At the other extreme, throw on some jeans and hit the mall, or grab your floppy-floppies and head for the beach. It'll stretch to cover any occasion. You can wear it at 21, or 61, and it still looks amazing. Buy a BUNCH of divers for fun and variety: remember, for the same price as this no-date Submariner, you can get a Samurai, a Squale, a Marathon, an Orient Mako or Ray, a Glycine Combat, a Longines Heritage Diver, AND an Alpina Seastrong ! I'm being conservative, I think, so choose either a Hamilton Frogman, a Certina Action or a Raymond Weil Tango to finish up!

First of all the, Submariner is not ugly as hell, 1:15 Datejust is ugly as hell might wanna think about that again!
Love them both, but i agree, the sub is overall more wearable all-around.

I have both but prefer the date just. Black submariner is far too common. Was on a plane once and 3 people were wearing the same exact watch.

Look you see Abramovich wearing a heart rate watch ... but it’s just no class to wear a sub with a suit ... both of these watches are a sport watch. Anything not on the leather is a sport watch

Who needs it? Answer: anyone over 45-50, which is most people who wear this watch. You'll see, eventually. Or won't see, rather! :-) As far as aesthetics go, to me it's just part of the Datejust look: so is the fluted bezel, by the way. I don't dig this new highfalutin' polished, flashy look! Kids today!
