That Was AWESOME!!!! Thanks so much for sharing. I’ve made a ton of things out of cardboard over the years but this is at a whole new level! Excited to build mine!
I love the intro, the armour and the deleted scene from the end of the video. Great work, Rafael!! I think i will make this some day 'cause it's super easy.
AWESOME!!!!!! I am also making mandalorian armor! I am using EVA foam. Your armor is the best cardboard mandalorian armor on TH-cam! I can't wait for you to finish the whole thing!
Do you have any suggestions to help me with the armor? I have recently finished up the helmet, but the thin layers you put on after to make it smooth.. just weren’t smooth! Another problem i have, is that my printer uses regular paper the size of notebook paper, but sometimes it isn’t the right size! Is there anything i can do?
To make the surface of it as smooth as possible you need to use a very thin cardboard and the you need to sand down it with sand paper, have you done that? @@EpicCardboardProps thank you very much! I am working on making a full cosplay of the mandalorian, but all i have is cardboard and glue! As for the thin cardboard, I didn’t want to waste, and i reused the paper scraps from the templates, but I’m fully willing to make a second helmet to make it better!
Yay finally, something I can do with all of the cardboard I've been hoarding up for some reason! All hail the Cardboard Master: Epic Cardboard Props! ⚔️
I would just scale down the templates a lot, like to a 30 or 35% I think it should be enough, but it is difficult to tell for sure! Making the entire Iron Man suit would be a tremendous job KABILAN P! Like six months even more and I try to publish 2 tutorials a month... So I can't, but maybe in the long run one piece at a time, I'll think about it 😉
Hey Rey Perez It's difficult to quantify that! As it depends on how you cut them and what type of cardboard you use.... so I can't give you a precise quantity. But I would say as much as you can see in the video. In the tutorial you can see pretty much all the cardboard that I used to make it. About the paint, well cardboard is not a good material when it comes to that part unfortunately... so you have to be aware that painting it is gonna make all the imperfections much more visible, and it may end up to look a little bit like a craft made by a young child lol to a certain extent... (That's the reason why I don't paint them), that being said I'm quite demanding with my props, maybe too much lol. But if you want to paint it I recommend you to use a primer first and then apply several thin layers of paint in order not to soak the cardboard. Acrylic paint might be a good one to use for that 😉
Glad I could help TandomSneez! That would be cool I to make BoKatan's helmet agree, actually I've been thinking about making it lately, I still have to think about it but it's likely that I'll do it eventually 😉
That's a very broad question lol but the main tips I could give would be 1 try to work as much as you can on the details (at the end this is what will make the difference...) 2 try to think about the entire build before starting on it. You have to know pretty much how you're going to make everything before, that way you're sure that you'll be able to finish it with the result intended ;)
I’m really wanting this for the predator. Your videos have been so helpful, and they’ll the best if they can singlehandedly get me a car board predator armor set.
Glad I could help Sharififard! Well unfortunately there is no much of an armor to make for the predator... I could make the other wrist gauntlet and the canon and some weapons too, but that's about it.
Yes you can but I recommend you to use acrylic paint as it is a thick and opaque type of paint as opposed to water based paint that will soak the cardboard leading to very poor result 😉

Hey! I was workin g on the shoulder piece when i noticed for some reason everything seemed messed up.it was way too small, and i had to cut off a lot. I hope you can respond to this, because i am confused. I am going to make another one got see if that is b better, but I don’t know.
@@EpicCardboardProps yep. Although i did notice something. Despite it being at the maximum it can be, all of the templates were equally smaller. I didn’t think that would matter, since if they were all smaller by the same size, it wouldn’t matter, but i just went along. I don’t know if i cut them out wrong or what.
@@bofa987 Well if you set your printer to print them all at 100% scale they aren't smaller, at 100% the pieces are exactly the same as mine in this case, and if they are smaller then you must have missed something somewhere because they shouldn't.
@@EpicCardboardProps hmm. I’m looking and nowhere on my printer does it say to set it to 100% scale, mind you, its an old printer. Ill keep looking. Thanks anyways!
@@bofa987 Usually you can set that parameter in the software you use on your computer for the printer, it is a very basic thing that all printers must be able to do for them to work properly, don't hesitate to do a quick search on google, you should be able to find how to do it with you printer quite easily 🙂
You can but you have to be aware that painting it is gonna make all the imperfections much more visible, and it may end up to look a little bit like a craft made by a young child lol to a certain extent... So I just made the shoulders from template one. They came out fine but some of the pieces didn’t exactly line up and they didn’t full match. I used an exacto knife. What should I do to minimize any more errors
Did you set your printer to print them all at exactly 100% of the scale? In the folder you downloaded there is a text file named "READ IT" that explain how to print them and many other important things, don't hesitate to have a look at it, it's important! 🙂
@@EpicCardboardProps yes I think I did it correctly it wasn’t my printer but when I went to go print I went to scale full size and made sure it was set at 100
@@Media-ej7zd Then it's ok :) If you printed and cut the patterns accurately, the small difference you got must be very small and quite expected to be honest, it is inevitable to get some when you work from carboard. But don't worry about that, just try to fit them the best you can when it happens, it won't make a big difference at the end result 😉
Amazing work! Your directions are terrific. I am going to make this for my son, as he wants to dress as Mando for Halloween! Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for the kind words Gentry Sanz-Agero! I do appreciate that. And glad to hear that you're going to make it! I hope you'll have fun making it! Don't hesitate to scale the templates down according to the explanation I give in the text file named "READ IT" that you downloaded with the templates for the helmet! Basically you can apply the percentage you ended up with for the helmet, for the entire armor! So that it's going to be a good fit for your son :)
It depends I would recommend you to use acrylic paint to do it as it is a thick and opaque type of paint as opposed to water based paint that will soak the cardboard leading to very poor result 😉 That being said paper is a bit rough, so if you can I recommend you to apply filler first instead of the paper, as I did here for Boba Fett helmet th-cam.com/video/BpY35qCcnaQ/w-d-xo.html then you can paint it directly (don't apply paper), you'll have a way better result that way! :)
No problems José Garduño Rubio, to do so you just have to do the following math: divide the circumference of your head (above the eyes) by mine which is 23 inches, that's gonna give you a decimal number like 0,86 for instance, and that is the percentage you have to print the templates out from your computer to make it a perfect fit for your head, in this case you would have to print them out at 86% of the original size... 😉 all of that is explained in the text folder you're going to download with the templates too
@@josegardunorubio4214 If you want to fit perfectly the armor too, you just have to apply the percentage you ended up with for the helmet to the armor ones as well, it should work just fine ;)
Hello friend, your things with cardboard are incredible, I am from Mexico and I am a child and I want to make the Mandalorian armor there is no way that I do not have to pay to download the templates is that I do not have the money to pay for them there is no way how get them for free please answer me by the way I'm from Mexico and I'm using the translator
on your templates you document a thickness of 0,4 cm /0,15 inches; 0,2 cm/0,1 inches; and 0,5cm/0,2 inches. I am confused as to what the corrugated board thickness should be in inches. is it 0.15, 0.1, and 0.2? thanks
That's because there is no need of 100% perfect match on the thickness thereby I rounded the numbers a bit to make them clearer... it goes the same way for the metric in cm; when I say 0,5cm it can be 0,45 or 0,55... it doesn't matter ;)
Hey, Raphael! I know that you have an entire list of props you want to make in the future. But I don't want you to have too much of them, but, when you finish the Cardboardlorian series, can you please make a web shooter? A lot of people on TH-cam make one of those, and some of them have complicated materials. And it would be cool to see you make your own mechanism! Thank you for your time. ;)

Acrylic paint might be a good one to use for that, and then you apply the varnish. Varnishing is has to be the very last thing to apply on it. About the rain, well if you do 2 or 3 layers of varnish, it shouldn't be a problem, that being said I wouldn't push it either, like leaving it hours under the rain sort of thing lol

Hey! Can you please make a tutorial video on how you make the templates of the prop because I wanna make something which is not available on youtube. I hope you will reply to this comment and work on my suggestion.
Well unfortunately I can't explain that simply in one video how to make the templates as it is the actual part of the build I'm trying hard to simplify by providing them. lol You see what I mean? But maybe one day I will make a series of video to explain how in details! I still have to think about how to do that efficiently ;)
I am 5'1" (61 inches or 155cm) is there a way to scale the templates to my size? Looking so forward to making this!!! Thank you so much for your channel!
The templates are in life size, so if you want to make it smaller or bigger you basically just have to print them at a lower or higher percentage. At 100% they fit me well and I'm 176cm tall, but feel free to scale them down a bit if you need too ;) like at 95% or less if needed.

Hey I want to print your star Lord blaster templates because I don't want to spend my money and I have my own printer so can you tell me on what size paper should I print the templates because I just printed a template on a4 size paper and it looks so huge

Quick question! On the patterns, what is it meant by thickness 0 , 4 cm / 0 , 15 inches or 0 , 5 cm / 0 , 2 inches for example? Is the comma meant to be a decimal point? Sorry to bother, I'm just a bit confused and want to be able to make the armor correctly!
haha no I put the coma because they are different metrics system of the same dimension... American for instance use more often the inches but if you live in the UK or in France you would use the cm 😉
@@EpicCardboardProps I got that they were 2 different measurement systems, but so would that mean that it's 4cm or 15in for example? Sorry to bother again
@@ispodsteve well 4cm equal 1.57 inches not 15 so I'm not sure what you are asking. But basically on the templates use the one you prefer, they are the same, you're over thinking it lol they're just two different metrics to define the same thing
Hey, the templates are in life size so if you print them at 100% of the scale you'll have the same size as me, but feel free to print them at lower or a higher percentage to make it the armor smaller or bigger. 🙂

Hey waffle, sorry to hear that! Have you printed them out as explained in the text file named "READ ME" that you get in the folder with the templates?
@@bofa987 Usually you can set that parameter in the software you use on your computer for the printer, it is a very basic thing that all printers must be able to do for them to work properly, don't hesitate to do a quick search on google, you should be able to find how to do it with you printer quite easily 🙂
instead of the varnish can I spray paint it with a metallic color?
You can but you have to be aware that painting it is gonna make all the imperfections much more visible, and it may end up to look a little bit like a craft made by a young child lol to a certain extent... (That's the reason why I don't paint them), that being said I'm quite demanding with my props, maybe too much lol
@@EpicCardboardProps Thank you for the advice.

What is the water to white glue ratio? We couldn't find it anywhere. We are having so much fun making these.
Glad to hear that Shawn! 🙂 Actually I show that visually in the video with the spoon ... it is about 2 doses of water for one of glue.
@@EpicCardboardProps Thank you. My son is so excited for Halloween with this costume!
This is the best mando armour On TH-cam
Thank you! Glad you think so :)
How did you reverse the pieces to make it opposite to the first element at 5:23?
You just have to flip the pieces, that's as simple as that 🙂
You are so creative. I'm a huge fan of yours
Glad you like my work Lakshya!!
The cardboard paper is same a newspaper?
Pretty much yes 😉

Defo gonna use this for my Halloween costume!! Thank you for the awesome tutorial!!!
No problem!! :)
Wow! That's amazing! You are such talanted!! 🤯💥Good luck in your future cardboard experiments✌️😝

Could you make Magneto's helmet??
Maybe JPXtreme 08, I'll think about it 😉
Does the varnish make it hard?
It does indeed, well to a certain extend of course. At the end of the day it's still cardboard...
This is awesome. I want to make one for my youngest son. Did you also make Boba Fett's helmet?
Glad you like it Mike Faso! No I didn't but I my one day 😉
How well does paint do once the paper has dried?
It depends I would recommend you to use acrylic paint to do it as it is a thick and opaque type of paint as opposed to water based paint that will soak the cardboard leading to very poor result 😉 That being said paper is a bit rough, so if you can I recommend you to apply filler first instead of the paper, as I did here for Boba Fett helmet th-cam.com/video/BpY35qCcnaQ/w-d-xo.html then you can paint it directly (don't apply paper), you'll have a way better result that way! :)

Hello again, I wanna start on this but I don't wanna have surprises like the helmet. So, what is the size pieces? I want to scalate it to my size.
😉 all of that is explained in the text folder you're going to download with the templates too
@@EpicCardboardProps thanks, what about the chest armor? what size it is?
Can you make cardbord falcon wings.
Thank you for your time. ;)
Thanks for the suggestion Eduard Onu, I'll think about it
After the varnish is applied, can it be spray-painted? And how careful do i have to be about rain? XD;;
Well cardboard is not a good material when it comes to that part unfortunately... so you have to be aware that painting it is gonna make all the imperfections much more visible, and it may end up to look a little bit like a craft made by a young child lol to a certain extent... (That's the reason why I don't paint them), that being said I'm quite demanding with my props, maybe too much lol. But if you want to paint it I recommend you to use a primer first and then apply several thin layers of paint in order not to soak the cardboard.
Hey Raph! Thank you so much for these tutorials, your talent is amazing!! Question: What would you recommend to paint all the pieces silver?

Thank you! 😃 Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank you! I finally found a good tutorial for cardboard Mandalorian armor!
Glad I could help! 🙂
Hey, what software are you using to plan these pieces out?
Well the main one is my brain lol then I also use some softwares to help me out, but they don't actually make the templates... they're just tools. For that I use Blender, Meshmixer, Fusion for 360, Adobe Illustrator and photoshop. 😉
Damn bro!! This will be my go to for this year! Awesome work!!!!
Glad you like my it kaam95! 🙂
Do you have to 3d print the templates or could you use a normal paper printer? Please say you can use a paper printer as I do not have a 3d one
Haha of course you don't have to use a 3d printer Yukkze, that's all the point. Any regular printer will do the work just fine 😉
@@EpicCardboardProps Thanks a lot for replying and no worries I will wait until you make that series of video or a video.

Wow that's awesome.can you try to make model car?
So cool! I’m curious if we’re able to paint the armor after applying the paper maché?
Would it be okay to just use normal metallic spray paint?

Have you printed them at 100% scale? In the folder that you downloaded you have a text file named "READ ME" that explains how to print them 😉
Hey what I didn't get it can you please please please explain me that again please because I took a screen shot from your website there were download able templates so I took screen shot of that and there no such option like that because I saw all the options an I couldn't get the option

Hey I have a question about your templates why there are different prices for different currencies I am in India so I should buy in inr?
Because the value of the money is different in every country Hatti Raja. 1 Inr doesn't equal 1 dollar for instance.
