Been here for 20 years and apart from the first year I have settled in well and am more than happy. My Mandarin is basic at around the intermediate level. I have had to teach myself. I have had no problems with bureaucracy and have been able to travel freely. Not even told the local police that I have gone travelling or stayed with friend in another province. I find that the older generation are the ones that are more rude when it comes to queuing and barging past people and spitting. I have called them peasants to their face, in Mandarin, and they have been shocked and apologised on some occasions. Same with peeing in the streets. More older people do it, men, mainly and they don't care if they are being seen. I live in the South and it gets really hot in summer. I am more used to British weather and love the winter time more here.
I live in China from 2010 to 2014 and everything you mentioned the video I experienced especially about being stared at. Fast forward to 2024 I’m back in China and it’s a different country and people’s behaviour towards me is nothing like it used to be which makes that part a lot easier
While I disagree with a (very) few of your opinions on the situations in the UK and China, I greatly appreciate your no-punches-pulled commentary on both places. Keep at it.
If you find that "struggle" or "challenge", China is certainly not for you. Pity for you in having yo stay in China for so many years. Many Hongkongers are moving to China to live there. I tour China several days in almost every month after retirement. My "appreciation" far overwhelms "irks", as China is far better than most other tourist destination, especially in terms of safety. Safety outweighs all other "minor issues".
Hopefully things like behaviour, especially spitting, and smoking will get picked up on by the government as more and more people come for tourism with the loosening of the visa free transit. The more people that complain about issues the better. That's one of the things about China, if it's going to effect it's image abroad, or the bottom line, more often than not it's going to do it's best to resolve the problem.
I dunno what your confused about, people move to areas for weather preferences. People will not move to areas because of freezing temps. Ask people from southern California what they think of beijings Jan average.
Road safety is virtually non-existant which ties in with the lack of respect. E-bikes dart all over the place which you can't hear behind you. I don't have one. Too much digging up and blocking off causing inconvenience. Education complacency: you'll pass whatever. Yeah, beaurocracy is tighter than ever. I've had a few hassles, and you now have to register with the police every time you leave the country and want to come back.
Hi, you say in past videos that you lived in Vietnam 🇻🇳 how is it there noice pollution I'm talking about?, I am living in philippines for 2 years now and dogs barking 24/7, very loud kaeroke. And mega amplified music being played all day and night every other day us wearing me down, looking for alternatives in SE Asia, Japan to expensive at thus present time, thxs in advance if you reply.
Have you lived in China? How did you find it? What things did you struggle with?

There are still many people in china not well educated, especially those aging 50+. But work conditions might be the most challenging one for me .
How does that compare with Vietnam 🤔....have you done any comparison videos...... would be great 👍
Will do
my main reason for struggling to live in China is finding clothes and shoes that fit, and also I couldn't get blonde highlights :(
Regarding the poor manners in China, does it differ from city to city? For example, a small town vs big city like Shanghai vs Hong Kong etc...?
Hong Kong is quite similar to the UK as far as social norms like queueing, noise in public transit or places where noise is not expected, etc.
Manners in China now are pretty good, compared to 2009
Would most of these objections be less apparent in somewhere like Shanghai?
Who cares?
Extremely interesting. Are you liking Vietnam?
Loving it thanks Karen
Weather? Seriously? China basically have ALL kinds of weathers, you have to get out of earth if yiu dont like it. 😂😂

Your list of so called challenges consists mostly not so hard to overcome issues. 😅
