Man, Punch and Jewelee were a ton of fun in Ostrander's Suicide Squad. Not exactly joke villains, but, really effective comic relief with a touch of flippant morbidity, perfect for the comic. And oh yes, top 5 ape villains? Looking forward to that one. Something both really cool and funny about gorilla villains. I appreciate that your top two have both been played by Mark Hamill. First he played James Jesse in "The Flash" television series, (the one before the current,) the The Joker in the Batman Animated Series. Mr. Rogues, I've been reading comics (most often Batman,) since the 60's, and I recently discovered your list and I've subscribed, and am very much enjoying your videos. Thank you. I doubt you've featured the villains from two of Batman stories I fondly remember, as I they were one-shots without any style. First was a story I remember that was very much like "Strangers on a train," except it was three people who tried to get away with murder in Gotham, (one of them as I recall was a baseball Umpire by trade,) but they didn't fool Batman. The other (from one of my favorite stories, if only because the Batman doesn't speak at all.) has Batman above The Alley, on The Anniversary, when he see's a family walking through who get robbed... (poor villains) Batman intervenes, and ends up pursuing the criminals beyond the edges of Gotham. Just before it ends, (in one of my favorite series of panels, (Neal Adams?)) a crook gets Batmans head under the water, and eventually calls out, I did it I killed the Batman! Then a gloved hand springs out of the water, and pulls the criminal under where he's nose to nose with a smiling Batman, followed by a beutiful picture of the muggers head being punched back by a blue gloved fist, and the water arcs through the air. It was great. Again, thank you so very much for your videos.
You almost had me going at the end with the Clown/Joker gag. Hat's off to another amazing list, Rogues. Kudos for giving the Jester a mention, I feel he's a pretty underrated Daredevil villain. He doesn't appear as much because I suppose most writers feel he doesn't fit the more grim, serious Miller-esque tone the character's been sporting for over three decades (which I don;t understand) but I still like him a lot.

Yeah, Punch and Jewelee are pretty great. So of course DC screws it up in Suicide Squad: Ride to Hell, their first appearance in a feature length film, by having them portrayed DISGUSTINGLY out of character shortly before their unceremoniously killed off to be the obligatory character/s who have to die to remind the audience that anyone can die on this team... you know, so long as they aren't Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc or basically anyone with some level of name recognition. Bad enough they were cannon fodder, but they were written completely out of character. I do not care of it is a separate universe, those two were made for each other.

I'm honestly getting a bit tired of them - as members of the squad I mean. I wanna see Floyd and Digger simply be Bat and Flash rogues again. At least for a while. I also REALLY don't like the fact Croc is becoming more known as an SS member now as opposed to a Bat rogue.
If I were to put Joker on my list, it would be an honourable mention or at no# 4. And it would be nice to see Boomer fight the Flash again. He is a rogue and always will be a rogue. If there is any bat for I like to see as a SS member, it is Ivy. She is cunning, seductive and can easily manipulate half the squad for her own purposes. She be better than Quinn. Killer Croc would have been a better choice to join batman's team from the James Tyrion run. Why he chose Clayface is beyond me. I like Clayface, but Croc is a better sympathetic rogue and would have bonded easily with Cassandra.
Hello, Mr. Rogues. That's a very nice list of Joke themed villains you had there. At first I thought this list was of joked loser villain, but then I realized that it was mainly on clowns or jesters or pranksters, you get the gist. If I had to pick three favorites, I would say Prankster, Trickster, and of course Joker. Yeah, at first at the number one spot you would exclude Joker from this list because we all know on why and what Joker does, but of course, Joker is mainly a villain we would always love. I really like these type of themes you put for each super villain that feels the mood to them, and it's creative and clever. In the next themed list, I would like to see a Top 5 best halloween themed villains list, sure Halloween was a few weeks, but there some villains that represent monsters and ghouls, such as Solomon Grundy and Gentleman Ghost. I really like The Jester. In the couple of stories I've read with him in, his actual gimmick is more unique then most people would think. He's into manipulating the media, fake broadcasts and such, causing mass public chaos as a result. My absolute favourite Jester story was in an issue of Superior Spider-Man where he teams up with Screwball and they start an evil TH-cam channel where they pull off big time public pranks, live-stream it, and then hack into the bank accounts of everyone watching their videos. I honestly wish those two up would get paired up more often. They're perfect together.
You should really do an underrated rogues on the marvel villain Arcade. I would really like that. He is a Hitman who builds amusement park themed death traps, which he dubs MurderWorld. He is basically Marvel's Joker.

I will admit. Joke themed villains have it rough, but then again so do bat-themed superheroes. I agree with your reasoning for Mr. Mxyptlk. He's definitely powerful but the fact that he just wants to prank Superman is interesting. He also stands out more thus doesn't get compared to Joker. Hey how about making Gotham a safe place to live, that would be the biggest prank for the Gotham rouges or making Joker sane....Now I'm getting flashbacks that the Justice League episode where every villain got a lobotomy. Anyway I barely have any knowledge of joke themed villains save for Mr. Mxyptlk and Joker but I also enjoy Jokey Smurf but he's not a supervillain. Other joke themed villains I remember were MadKat from Swat Kats, QuackerJack from Darkwing Duck, Binky the Clown from Garfield and Friends, and Carlos from Magic School Bus (the original version). I know the last two aren't villains but Carlos' puns, they hurt my soul. Also Binky can do choke on a inflated balloon animal, he was annoying and creepy and gave me nightmares.

Loomis is not just a bad fit for Superman's power level, he's a mismatch for personality. Superman does not need humbling or ego deflation; he's a modest fellow, all round.
I like the jester more then bullseye, I think Thomas and Lee made the character a lot of fun but still a legitimate threat. Bullseye tends to be written by writers who forget that Daredevil is swashbuckling hero not an emo vigilante. Let the Punnisher be the emo guy, Daredevil should be more of a lighthearted swashbuckling fun.
I was wondering what the gag for #1 was gonna be. Had some bets on "Pretends the Joker is obscure". While I also think the Joker is a well worn discussion topic I think one of the things that have helped him stay in the A List for decades is what helped Batman stay in the A List for Decades: Malleability. The general idea of The Joker is malleable enough that over 70 years you can keep reinventing details of what he is and does. Is he an anarchist? Is he a themed super villain? Is he a mob boss? Yes. I'm always fascinated by things that get successfully reinvented a lot. Sometimes I don't get why. I don't get why Scooby Doo got remade a bunch of times. It was good yes but lots of things were good and they didn't get remade every other year. But I'm not as fascinated with The Joker himself. I'm not waiting for there to be a good version of Joker cuz there's like 5. If there's no new movies with Joker for 10 year I'll live.
How about a top 10 villains brought in for only two or three panels ? Basically a villain that comes at the last second, so the hero can beat up on someone wearing a costume.
Mxy is all powerful, but he does have weaknesses. In order to defeat him, one simply has to get him to say his name backwards, kltpyxm. Then he has to return to his dimension, the 5th, for 3 months.
What do you think of tero man from silver age superman. I think he is so stupid as a concept hes fun. A Gunslinger that wants to challage superman to a old western style showdown. I like him But the problem is he isnt a credible threat. My new origin for him is he was a outlaw from a futhurestic wiled west earth and Clark was the sheirff. He got his laso from that eaths wonder woman. And when the earth was about to be destoyed he escaped on his magic flying horse. And landed in this earth he is alien doesnt understand this new world but knows one thing superman is the big chease in town and killing him will make him famous and respected. Unlike superman that grew up in america terro man was rasied on a diffrent world so despite being human he is more alien then superman. Also his horse can breath fire because why not
That's Punch and Jewelee. They're a pair of villains DC got from Charlton Comics along with Blue Beetle, Captain Atom and The Question. A couple of criminals madly in love with each other get their hands on alien tech. Hi-jinks ensue.

I actually don't count Mxyzptlk as a "joke-themed" villain. He's more of a "chaotic entity" type, in my mind...and no, I don't quite mean in the way Joker is. I mean basically a God or Spirit of Chaos; sort of like Q from Star Trek, for example. It's a different archetype in my mind...heck, maybe that's a list *I* should work on sometime. Other than Mxy, I agree with your choices, though not your placements. Here would be my list... 5. Jester 4. Prankster 3. Trickster 2. Harley Quinn 1. Happy Day Fools April. O.k. Mxy can never be confused with the Joker because their power sets are so different. But your right not every villain who jokes around is a Joker ripoff like not every villain who use cold is a Mr. Freeze ripoff. As for Marvel I only ever had one Jester comic. And that was where DD uses the Jester's outfit to keep the cops busy while Jester trys playing Cyrano again. After which he "retired" so Frank Miller could get all dark and gritty. Thu I would have to put Madcap on the list instead for Marvel's resident funnyman. With an honorable mention to Spidey rouge Slapstick. his four apperances weren't espically memorable. After all the four arms with sticks was too much of a Doc Ock ripoff. But a Rouge who could match Spidey quip for quip was cool,

It felt like a waste of the Jester. He was a prominent foe in his earlier appearances and should not be hanging out with a loser rogue like Screwball.

How about a top 10 villains brought in for only two or three panels ? Basically a villain that comes at the last second, so the hero can beat up on someone wearing a costume.

What do you think of tero man from silver age superman. I think he is so stupid as a concept hes fun. A Gunslinger that wants to challage superman to a old western style showdown. I like him But the problem is he isnt a credible threat. My new origin for him is he was a outlaw from a futhurestic wiled west earth and Clark was the sheirff. He got his laso from that eaths wonder woman. And when the earth was about to be destoyed he escaped on his magic flying horse. And landed in this earth he is alien doesnt understand this new world but knows one thing superman is the big chease in town and killing him will make him famous and respected. Unlike superman that grew up in america terro man was rasied on a diffrent world so despite being human he is more alien then superman. Also his horse can breath fire because why not

That's Punch and Jewelee. They're a pair of villains DC got from Charlton Comics along with Blue Beetle, Captain Atom and The Question. A couple of criminals madly in love with each other get their hands on alien tech. Hi-jinks ensue.

I actually don't count Mxyzptlk as a "joke-themed" villain. He's more of a "chaotic entity" type, in my mind...and no, I don't quite mean in the way Joker is. I mean basically a God or Spirit of Chaos; sort of like Q from Star Trek, for example. It's a different archetype in my mind...heck, maybe that's a list *I* should work on sometime.

Happy Day Fools April. O.k. Mxy can never be confused with the Joker because their power sets are so different. But your right not every villain who jokes around is a Joker ripoff like not every villain who use cold is a Mr. Freeze ripoff. As for Marvel I only ever had one Jester comic. And that was where DD uses the Jester's outfit to keep the cops busy while Jester trys playing Cyrano again. After which he "retired" so Frank Miller could get all dark and gritty. Thu I would have to put Madcap on the list instead for Marvel's resident funnyman. With an honorable mention to Spidey rouge Slapstick. his four apperances weren't espically memorable. After all the four arms with sticks was too much of a Doc Ock ripoff. But a Rouge who could match Spidey quip for quip was cool,
