Moon Hooch has taken busking from the subways of New York to the Wreckroom. Rumor has it that they're banned from the Bedford subway stop for inciting too many platform dance parties. How they got hipsters to dance is a feat, manifested in this song Contra, conjuring a hint of The Rapture, with a dash of John Coltrane. Say What!?! Passion for music and belief in each other is what has motivated this high intensity group of free spirits to fuck the system and create music as radical and open as some of their lifestyle choices.

I absolutly love this. The vocals are brilliant and these guys play like their three brains are wired together. The camera work and editing gives you a taste of how moving their live performances are. Keep bringing it Moon Hooch !
Took my 9 year old son to see TMBG and Moon Hooch opened for them. The family walked away Moon Hooch heads. We immediately went home and bought the album and he played Contra and #9 for his friends at school. Great to hear an opening band with a sound I've never heard before and I really enjoyed. The vocals on this song were a fantastic add.
I can picture this being played in some movie one day.
When mike and alena are looking at each other you can see mike smiling while playing and it makes me happy

Did something very similar (w/out my kid) at the Indianapolis show, but bought the CD before leaving the show. They guys were happy to sign it for me and I've been listening ever since...huge Hooch-head now! ...totally original sound with TONS of positive energy! I LOVE IT!
This is my first time hearing Moon Hooch, and it's FANTASTIC. Everything works together so well, and that is not something I thought I'd ever say about an arrangement that includes two saxophones. Eleven more tracks, and you've got a record I'd buy.

I still come to listen to this almost every week . Even if you might not be "proud" of it anymore (I'm guessing that's why you moved it to unlisted) , know that there are still people who appreciate your lesser work ^^

Just saw these guys in Birmingham. They had nowhere to stay so they stayed at my house. They're amazing musicians and just amazing people in general.

Moon Hooch is good how they usually are with just the three instrumentalists. However, the vocalist really takes them to the next level.

Ehhh, I actually agree with him. I LOVE Moon hooch but compared to more classic jazz there is a lot less going on. That being said I think moon hooch has perfected the "make you want to dance" style of music and I love it.
i had smoked pot to this song for 2 years in the parking lot which is nicknamed "the Satellite", while i was hopelessly trying to get my college degree. That parking lot is a deserted place, place that you take your girl or boy to make out. I was sitting on the pavement, without a car, with my headphones on, this song playing, pulling as hard as i could fromthe joint, burning feeling going down my throat so that i could get out of the pile of misery i had been in.
Now its been 2 years since i got that fuckin degree, im not happier though, at least now i got a job and some folks respect me for what i do. If thats something.

Unique vibe for sure. Anyone who is diverse in music should completely love this sound. It is enriching and moving, albeit rather loud at times i find it important for the vibe. Well done.
