Been gaming since the Colecovision. The 16bit era for my money has aged the best and BOTH Genesis and SNES are worth owning. The 6th gen with PS2/Xbox/GC has also aged very well, especially when you can emulate the games with improved resolution/framerates. Gamecube is a dream on Dolphin.

You guys got it right: Gen 6 is a beast. Every single one of those consoles is worthwhile and fun as hell to collect for.

Gen 6 can't be beat, too much hardware. So much variety. And they finally figured out how to do 3-D. We'll never see a generation like that again.

    • @zr1cvette

Yep.. not many massive delays, games ready and polished day one,no downloading games, pop them in and play. Also you had 5 GTA games that generation, compared to zero last gen.. EA Big was huge then, developers kept churning out good titles in general.. How many not just triple A titles per year would we get but also a lot of good games that were 7s but still fun..

    • @ryanjackson7387
      @ryanjackson7387 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

7th Gen was the 6th on steriods. we did see it again. The only reason why I have 6th Gen higher is nostalgic looking back nothing will ever beat or compete with 7th gen. In the end It will eventually go down as the best Gen.

@@ryanjackson7387 the sixth gen and 7th gen had the same charm in different ways like the sixth gen was like a swan song generation for the gaming culture at the time and the seventh gen brought in online play at full swing but in a way that honestly wasn’t bad …then everything went to shit in the 8th gen

I think I agree with your rankings. Obviously, the newest generation could move up a bunch with time, but yes, it's been underwhelming so far and honestly I don't even really want to judge it until we get the Switch 2/next gen Switch from Nintendo. Speaking of Switch, it has become my favorite console maybe of all time and it continues to pump out great games, so that one could move up in a few years.

I don't disagree with any of these. I've been restoring my old consoles lately and having a blast revisiting the PS2/Xbox/GC. Camera controls in 3D games can be wonky, but there's so many great games and the console hardware still holds up after being boxed up for 15+ years. I'd like to see you do portables next, but make sure to include Tiger hand helds... at the bottom.

Awesome video, guys! I sometimes think what "could have been" had Nintendo released a system between the Super Nintendo and N64 or if Sega had released something between the Saturn and Dreamcast. There definitely seems to be generation gaps between manufacturers as their releases were staggered.

  • @moandaindesigns
    @moandaindesigns 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Not a bad ranking guys. Glad to see this video. I think I can agree with everything you said. Gen 4 and Gen 6 belong in 1st place, but there can only be one winner.
I 100% agree with 9th Gen being is last place. I am unimpressed with the launch, lack of supply, Scalpers (F*ck scalpers), and lack of quality titles. Ratchet and Clank and Halo Infinite are the only 2 games that have my interest.
I waited till 2019 to get a PS4 Pro and I am so happy I did. I waited 6 years and scored a lot of games on the cheap. On average I paid about $10 per game. A lot of the games I bought for less than $5 before I even got the system. Nothing is wrong with buying games on the cheap for a system that you do not own yet.
Guys take your time, play your back log, enjoy the hobby, and score games on the cheap for the PS5 and Xbox series X. Eventually you will get a system and then you will be really ready to play.

Easily the best console for JRPGs at least. Other extremely notable games like Castlevania Symphony of The Night, Resident Evil series, Parasite Eve, Crash, Spyro, I mean wow, the console has an extremely great line up overall. It’s right below the SNES and the Turbografx, (which I have a soft spot for because it’s what I grew up with) on my list.

Part of me wants to say that too, but when you look at that list, all of these consoles are so amazing. Gen 8 almost gets an unfair boost due to Wii U and Switch, and I think N64 holds back Gen 5 personally. I think otherwise I would swap Gen 8 and Gen 5. Definitely agree though, PS1 library is amazing and I'm not even an RPG guy.

You guys rated 5th gen too low...5th gen has way more games and variety than the 3rd. PS1 has a better library of games than NES and outsold it...and gave us Final Fantasy 7, Tekken and Metal Gear Solid. Saturn has a better library of games than Master System...it gave us solid Capcom ports, NiGHTs, Virtua Fighter, etc. N64 introduced Super Smash Bros, 3D Mario Kart, 3D Mario and has the highest rated game of all time...Ocarina of Time. With that said I think these two generations are about neck and neck.

    • @hepwo91222
      @hepwo91222 3 ปีที่แล้ว

while I actually hold the NES In higher regard than PS1, the NES was pretty much it for gen 3, where gen 5 had the PS1, Saturn, N64, Jaguar, and 3D0. OK, so maybe the the PS1 and the N64 were the most relevant, Saturn was also very good, Jaguar and 3D0 were very niche, but gen 5 had a lot going on and was innovating gaming genres on a constant basis. Although the NES really did innovate the home console market just by itself for the most part where Atari and Sega's efforts were niche.

    • @FFFREAK2787
      @FFFREAK2787 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Personally the ps1, N64 era of games has done more for gaming then most other generations combined. N64 introduced built in 4 player capabilities along with some of the most iconic Nintendo games ever. The PS1 alone went through a radical change in what gaming is too many. Titles that defined genres, like final fantasy, tony hawk. Twisted metal, MGS, Socom.

    • @hepwo91222

Hey guys! Love your output on GotG. For me it's a generation thing, not just with consoles but with gamers. Nostalgia can play a massive part in which console generation is your favourite. However I think your ranking was pretty good. My first console generation was the 3rd and will always be close to my heart but I agree that 6th generation is best

Totally agree about 5th gen. Saturn N64 and PS1 were amazing systems with great games at the time but, unless you were there I can see them being very tough to go back to today for younger gamers. Sometimes when I play that generation of games I have to book myself back in the time in order to overlook the rough rudimentary 3D for the blurry graphics of the N64. I'd say everything before that generation and everything after has aged way better it was just that awkward midpoint

I started playing the Atari so I have played all these generations. I agree with #1 but in my opinion I would move #5 up to #3 and shift #3 and #4 down 1 each. My reason for it is just the sheer amount of innovation during the 7th gen. Online became so much more robust, motion controls and Kinect, Indie games came into their own on consoles, the online marketplace, streaming video, etc. I feel like a lot happened to move the industry forward during this gen.

It was awesome back in the day but I pretty much NEVER go back to those games, unlike SNES/GBA games, which I play all the time. I'd flip spots with #2 and #4 , and flip #3 with #6 . I was born in 1980! The Nes and PS2 are probably my most played systems. Loved the wrestling games on N64. The 16 bit wars were great but the Wii, 360, and PS3 went so long all the revisions of the consoles got a little bit of shine. I swore the Saturn was gonna kick the Ps1's butt, but yeah that didn't happen. But to this day the Saturn is my favorite Sega console. That list was tough....maybe a handheld list battle next?

Hey GotG! Found your channel a few months ago and love your style. As someone in your age group, its been been a joy being able to live through this gaming evolution. I wish i could take today's gaming youth back to the SNES days to experience what a true leap in graphics felt like from gen to gen. I do agree that this latest gen is the most uninspired, non-thrilling gen so far. I don't get how people are willing to pay $1,000 for a PS5. I've really enjoyed lately re-visiting my OG Xbox / 360 collection and your passion has played a part.
I personally would rate PS3 / X 360 a little higher on list. That Gen i feel was the last gen that Game's were made for fun and passion, after that games / consoles became to much about profits and the bottom line, but i cant disagree with your thinking. Plus that X360 controller is still the best one out there. your picks for 3,4,5 are so close that even the smallest niche thing flips that whole list around.
Cheers! And one of these days I'll watch your video new at home so i can have beer while watching!

Personally I'd put Gen5 higher, but Gen9 I'd have to agree on. I spent a lot of time on the Genesis & NES, but the PS1 has the keys to my heart. Gen6 across every platform is also way high up there for me.

I would say 4 and 5. 4 refined 2D pixel gaming, while dabbling in early polygon 3D games. 5 was inventing genres that we still play today and inventing how they would play. I guess gen 6 refined 3D polygon based gaming though, but didn't invent much all that new IMO.

@@chrispy3051 to an extent I agree, but the only big genre I can think of that spawned from it was the open world 3D polygon based game. It mostly improved on gen 5, but didn't do as much to invent much new to push gaming forward. Gen 4 refined 2D gaming while all sorts of new genres were being invented every year and dabbled in some early 3D polygon based games too. Gen 5 was more raw, but most 3D polygon games got all their inspiration from that gen.

Emulation works better for me on a *secondary* Android smartphone as it's always with me, it's smaller, and it can do more. I usually carry two phones any way. But I want something like the Deck because my smartphone peaks at Wii emulation and I do want PS4 quality. Deck also has a microSD slot that many recent flagship phones lack.
I have to store many ROMs on an external hard drive or my other phone because I'm limited to 128 GB on my main emulation device. But I don't mind since not all games will play smoothly. There are a ton of settings for different games. Even missing one setting that's disabled or not can affect how it runs. Each game can be that precise and specific.
Lately, I play Wii games if it's compatible with Classic / GameCube controllers. I have Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 and while it's very smooth and playable on Snap888, it's also annoying because it requires having the pointer aimed at one of the stars. Galaxy 2 seems more for my taste as Galaxy 1 gets me dizzy running around tiny moons. But Galaxy 2 also requires motion controls with Yoshi's tongue.
Gawd, I hate the Wii for this! Such tacked-on features that some people hate. But I can't hate the Wii completely as it's really a GameCube Pro with Kinect controls. If it can play GameCube and Wii games, it's not all bad. While GameCube can't play games like Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Skyward Sword, Sonic Colors, and so on.
Wii games to play without too fuss mapping with motion controls -
    Kirby's Returns To Dream Land
    Klonoa
Mario Kart Wii (can't really stand it)
    Muramasa: The Demon Blade
    New Super Mario Bros. Wii
    Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing
    Sonic Colors
GameCube is still my preferred system to emulate followed by Dreamcast, PS2, and MAME. Don't need PSP since most of my favorites are on my Vita. But Wii does rank higher than older consoles I grew up with like NES, Genesis, and SNES.
At age 41, you would think I'm all about keeping it old school, right? Nah. I prefer graphics from 1998-Present. The best generation or at least my favorite is the 6th gen. The Steam Deck fulfills that 10% need from my PS4 ownership.
    Favorite Consoles (no handhelds)
    1. Nintendo GameCube (Flip 3)
    2. Sega Dreamcast (Flip 3)
    3. Sony PlayStation 2 (Vita & Flip 3)
    4. Nintendo Wii (Flip 3)
    5. Sony PlayStation (Vita & Flip 3)
    6. Sony PlayStation 4 (Deck)
    7. Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Flip 3)
    8. Sega Genesis (Flip 3)
    9. Nintendo Entertainment System (Flip 3)
    10. Nintendo 64 (Flip 3)
    11. Sony PlayStation 3 (Deck?)
    12. Microsoft Xbox (none)
    13. Sega Saturn (none)
    14. Atari Jaguar (none)
    Never owned these devices -
    Microsoft Xbox 360
    Microsoft Xbox One
    Microsoft Xbox Series X & S
    Sony PlayStation 5
    Nintendo Wii U
    Nintendo Switch
    Nintendo 3DS
Any Amiga, SNK, NEC, or 3DO console
Any console before the 3rd gen
    Favorite Handhelds
    1. Sony PlayStation Vita (Vita)
    2. Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP & Vita)
    3. Nintendo Game Boy (Flip 3)
    4. Sega Game Gear (Flip 3)
    5. Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP (none)
    6. Nintendo DS Lite (none)
The DS and Wii are my least favorite systems to emulate. I took out all my ROMs for DS, GBA, Jaguar, and Saturn on my favorite phone. MAME basically fills the 2D fighters the Saturn has. I know the DS sold over 154M but I can't stand it. I don't fall for all of Nintendo's gimmicks. I really don't like a second display or motion controls.
I hate being forced to look at a second display. This is why I won't bother with 3DS / Citra emulation. While the Wii is a nightmare to map the controls, it has enough horsepower that it doesn't make me completely hate it while the DS is a pixelated mess like GBA is. Try playing Mario Kart: Super Circuit or DS. So pixelated. I'm a Sony fanboy when it comes to handhelds. Way more powerful when released.
PS4 remains my most powerful console I own as I never bought any 9th gen systems yet. But to be honest, I used my PS4 mostly as a media player and to stream Netflix. The 7th and 8th gens really aren't my favs. Games are easily over 100-150 GBs. I never cared for DLC and micro-transactions. I'm really not aware of many of the current popular franchises. Would I love to play Game of War (2018) and Final Fantasy VII Remake on the go? Sure. But I'm not dying to do that.
Many modern games requires more than 15-minute bursts. If I'm more of a retro gamer (never been a PC gamer) and most of my favorite games are already on my smartphone which happens to also be way easier to carry around, then what's the need to pay $400 for a Steam Deck? Because I just want it! I want a portable PS4 to play many games I missed on. Steam Deck 🐳 is the GOAT handheld for its price point.

I was around for both, loved how 6 gen had 4 good consoles with games that mostly aged well, but the games were nowhere near as innovative as other generations. Only genre that seemed to spawn from it that seems relevant was the 3D open world adventure game. Gen 4 perfected 2D sprite based gaming, also had 4 good consoles, 2 being mainstream SNES/Gen and two niche TG-16/Neo Geo, but we saw the invention of disc based gaming, storytelling in voice acted cutscenes, invented 3D polygon based games, psuedo-3D games with "mode 7", to me Gen 4 is tough to ever top.

My issue with this ranking is my same issue with any generation ranking, that the Nintendo-centric (and later Sony-centric) naming method places Colecovision and the 5200 in the same generation as the late 70s consoles. We are really in the 10th generation rather than the 9th.

Great List Gents! I love to see different opinions on different folks favorite. I was born in 84 and here is how I personally Rank them:
Last place: 9th Gen (PS5 & Series X) I have no desire for either of these consoles. Diminishing returns has really settled in and with games not playing off disc and being just downloads and with thae ABSOLUTE PISS POOR amount of storage they come with to keep games saved and on the system, I won’t even participate in this Gen until those SSD’s are minimum 1.5TB.
6th Place: 8th Gen (Switch, PS4 Pro, Xbone) I don’t count the original consoles in the is Gen as proper consoles. They were so weak when they came out, I consider, the Pro, One X, and the Switch the true console Gen here. I like the PS4 Pro but again I go back to the annoying fact that those games and Xbone games are essentially downloads and don’t play off the disc. Switch on the other hand is incredible. Great games and stuff plays right off the cart. I can hold so many more games on the Switch with so much less space.
5th place: 3rd Gen (Nes, Master System, Atari 7800) I truly love this Gen. Don’t care to much for the 7800 but the Master System is great and the Nes is legendary for the amount of fun and great games even to this day.
4th Place: 6th Gen (Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox) What a great and diverse generation of games. So much single and multiplayer goodness and I feel the last Gen where there were so many new and unique experiences and next to no remasters. Also games were complete. We started getting 480P here with Gamecube, PS2, and Dreamcast and even 720P on some Xbox stuff. Awesome games here too all across the board.
3rd Place: 7th Gen (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U) Yes, I put the Wii U here as the Wii is really mostly a Gamecube with Motion controls. The Wii U matches more tech wise with this gen and game wise, not to mention it has Wii Functionality built in. I love this Gen mostly for the Wii U. There are so many fun and amazing Wii U and Wii games for the system. The online shop and setup is better than the Switch’s by far. PS3 has some incredible games and is still an amazing machine today. Plays Cds, Dvds, Blu Rays, 3D Blue Rays, PS1 games, PS3 games, and for the lucky folks that have those OG models, PS2 games. What a beast. I am not a massive 360 fan but the Shmups I imported are incredible as well as Lost Odyssey and a few other 360 titles.
2nd Place: 4th Gen (Turbo Duo, Super Nintendo, Philips Cdi, Sega Genesis/Cd/32X, and Neo Geo Aes) All I can say is, DAMN in my best Ron Simmons impression. The amount of amazing and classic titles between the Genesis, Super Nintendo, Turbo Duo, Aes, and even the Sega Cd are just mind blowing. Even the 32X has its Gems. Believe it or not, so does the Cdi. Just a masterclass of games and systems.
1st Place: 5th Gen (Panasonic 3DO, Atari Jaguar/Jag Cd, Sega Saturn, PS1, N64) Holy Balls, what an incredible and revolutionary amount of games. The 3DO with some of the best fighting game home ports for the time. Samurai Showdown, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Also things such as Road Rash, Need for Speed, and Luciennes Quest. It also has the best port of Wolfenstein 3D in my opinion. Moving over to the Jag, holy hot Damn as well. You have one of the best early Ports of Doom. You have the best version of Nba Jam Tournament edition along with other awesome games such as Raiden, Tempest 2000, Alien Vs Predator, the top down rally driving game, Rayman, Atari Karts, etc. The N64! What an amazing Multiplayer system. I finally just got mine back from Lord Voultar with a region free and RGB mod and holy hot damn does it look good with the HD Retrovision Component cables. The Original Playstation houses some of my favorite games off all time. It is the RPG lovers Haven and the best that there has ever been, not to mention all the other revolutionary titles. Finally, and my new favorite, the Sega Freakin Saturn. There are no words to explain how great this system is between domestic and import titles. There is so much variety here, with Arcade titles, fighting games, RPGs, racing games, and SHMUP City.
I think you guys may have put this one a little low. I realize there are primitive looking 3D titles in this Gen but the 2.5D and especially the 2D games are the Pinnacle of 2d pixel art. It doesn’t get any better than what you can find on the Saturn and the PS1 to some degree.

I basically agree with your rankings, especially with super 4 at the top. My only real issue is with the NES being the torch bearer of the third generation. I think that was the only generation where a personal computer outconsoled the consoles with the Commodore 64. I know it was not technically a console but it was mostly used that way and even took cartridges! Of course the NES sold more, so it wins in sheer numbers, but given the price difference I think it equals out. I know me and my friends in the Army at the time all played our c64s a lot more than our NESes. As long as that is included I agree with your list 100% as someone who went through all the generations as a gamer.

I think your ranking is mostly accurate, guys, if you can only have one console per ranking (I'd put 4th gen tied 1st place if you could put multiple generations in the same ranking). I understand your reasoning for ranking 5th gen so low (the graphics certainly haven't aged well in a lot of games of the era), but I would swap it with the 3rd gen. Yes, generation 3 is an important era, but few of the games stand up like the classics in the 5th gen. I guess it's just down to personal preference and nostalgia. But great video and ranking.
Here's how I would rank them:
1 Sixth Generation (Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox)
2 Fourth Generation (Mega Drive, SNES)
3 Eighth Generation (Wii U, PS4, XBone, Switch)
    4 Fifth Generation (Saturn, PS1, N64)
    5 Seventh Generation (Wii, 360, PS3)
6 Third Generation (NES, Master System)
7 Ninth Generation (PS5, Xbox Series)
I might even be open to the suggest that the 7th generation is better than the 5th. It's a tough call.

So in a way, it already feels like an upgraded next Gen (Forza Horizon looks fucking incredible on the series x). But you are right, there hasn’t been a killer app after almost a year. Kinda crazy. My friends and I always looked forward, not backward generally speaking so this is really a tough one because this is not based on impact during the timeframe rather my current taste? Being between 9 - 14 years young during Gen 3, I have a lot of nostalgia but will try not to let that interfere with what I like now as Gen 3 had MY entire generation hooked from day one and in my estimation, by far had the largest monumental impact. By my current 45 year old man standards, it's not my go to 2d system due to controls, difficulty, and too much repetition. Having said this currently = 1st - Gen 7, 2nd - Gen 8, 3rd - Gen 4, 4th - Gen 6, 5th - Gen 5, 6th - Gen 3, 7th - elusive Gen 9. I find myself way more likely to pick up a Gen 8 or 4 game than 7 daily for some reason allthough I rated it #1 (Elder Scrolls 4/5, Mass Effects, God Of Wars, Halos, Demon/Dark Souls, Gears, Uncharted, Whitcher 2, Forzas, etc). Perhaps I put enough time in and is very much still in my mind?

I realise it's only an opinion guys but for me the PS3 changed everything. It's still the most used in our household. Great stuff gentlemen.

I really wish you guys would get a master system and give it a shot. Since you love the nes so much, I think you’ll really enjoy the master system.

Fricken love this video! I almost agree with your guys list other than I would flip one for the other. I was born in 1974 so I am technically 1 Gen but those all were basically Pong games so I don't count it. But grew up playing 2nd gen, 3rd gen, 4th gen. Those gens are I have huge nostalgia for. But I will give you my list for the Generations you guys were around for.
    1 6th Gen
    2 4th Gen
    3 7th Gen
    4 3rd Gen
    5 8th Gen
    6 5th Gen
7 9th Gen ( as like you guys I don't own one of these yet either)
I don't own a Switch yet so maybe that would sway me back towards ranking 8th Gen a little higher or the same as you guys. I also think as this Gen ages it could move up higher as well.
Its hard having 3rd ranked 4 considering how much I love the NES and Master System but had the Master System had more success in North America my list could look a bit different. In my neck of the woods here in Canada I had a couple buddies who had a Master System so I got to enjoy both. I had the NES but it would be pretty hard for me to convince my Dad after buying me an NES to then buy me a Master System. lol Now as an adult I own 3 of them lol.
Keep up the great work guys! Fricken love the channel! Can't for more buying guides!
    Cheers!

About to watch, just gonna go on a limb here snd say top 3 are:
    1. 6th generation
    Microsoft Xbox
    Nintendo Gamecube
    Sega Dreamcast
    Sony Playstation 2
    2. 4th generation
    Sega Genesis
    Super Nintendo
    3. 7th generation
    Microsoft Xbox 360
    Nintendo Wii/Wii U
    Sony Playstation 3
Let's see how it plays out, Cotton. Cheers 🍻
I didn't do too bad with my predictions.
The Wii U I know is in a weird place generationally and same with Switch. I need to go back and watch Adam Koralik's video on these with how he qualifies them.

Just received my pint glass today. Thanks guys.
As to the video...ouch! It hurts my heart seeing the NES ranked so low. I absolutely agree with 6 and 7. I don't know how much I can agree or disagree with the others. Try to make me live without any one of those generations, I'd have to fight ya.
NES and SNES was my childhood. N64 is my collage days. Gamecube was my first time alone in the new apartment building a career. PS3 was my first Playstation ever. PS4/Switch/WiiU (to a lesser extent) are still my go to systems today. To get rid of any one of those systems is to get rid of a very important part of my life.
That's why even though I totally agree that N64 did not age well and it's right to be at number 6...it will always have a place connected to my CRT television in my hobby room.
So, yeah, I would never be able to do a video like this one.

9th Gen shouldn't even be in the selection...it hasn't really got started yet...Nintendo hasn't even released it's 9th gen system which I suspect will be released in 2023.

Yea Nintendo pull an Atari and released 2 consoles in one generation. People thought The Switch was 9th gen since the Wii u was 8th gen but it's grossly underpowerd making it 8.5 gen.

Excellent job gentlemen! You guys had a tough job and did a very admirable job! I agree with your order and have no issue with how you ranked the generations. The PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast, and GameCube are amazing consoles. Also, this generation of the PS5 and Xbox Series X has been garbage so far. In time hopefully our opinion will change, but a year in, I’ll spend my money on these other fantastic consoles. Excellent video and beer choice, cheers my dudes! 🍻

I agree with Gen 6 being #1, but for me being born in '93 I see it this way
#1 Gen 6 - PS2, Xbox, for me having the most games in my collection over 300+ games over the years for my PS2
#2 Gen 5 - PS1 and N64, having the most immersive games at the time and have a good chunk of games from that era
#3 Gen 7 - PS3 and 360, Graphics and Gameplay was amazing but some are very replayable in my opinion
#4 Gen 8 - PS4 and Switch, Best of the Best games that I have ever played but not very replayable for most
#5 Gen 4 - SNES and Genesis, never played much of them when I was young until I came across the mini versions and loved 'em
#6 Gen 3 - NES, 8-bit gaming is cool but not my cup of tea when going in to finish these games from that era except Super Mario
#7 Gen 9 ( You already know why)

    I personally would do:
    1. Gen 6
    2. Gen 8
    3. Gen 7
    4. Gen 5
    5. Gen 4
    6. Gen 9
    7. Gen 3
Nothing against NES I just don’t have much skin in the game for that gen.

To put into perspective, PS5 is Sony's fastest selling console ever. So despite the shortages, Sony still sold more PS5s than PS4s and PS2s in the same amount of time (and those systems were also in shortages and hard to find for a year or so after launch).
Also, it did take a couple of years for XOne and PS4 gen to get real new gen heavy hitters too. Let's not forget MGS5, released in 2015, was on X360 and PS3 too and we mostly got HD ports of previous gen for a while (Tomb Raider, Last of Us...).
