I think this was the BEST tutorial on the internet!. You were easy to understand, did not speak too fast, loved how you demonstrated several times with changes, and did not assume we could figure it out. Like you sense of humor, yes, I need reminder to get gasoline, etc. I will watch all your videos that help me. Very well done, Thanks!
I don't know thank you very much kind words always helped push me to continue to make videos I am actually editing a second Bixby video right at this moment covering Bixby Routines, routines will have your phone do things for you automatically like to turn off Wi-Fi when you leave the house to save battery. if your phone could do something automatically for you what would it be?
@@TheHiTechNomad What I would like my phone to do is make sure wifi is on and turn off my data when I am watching TH-cam (or any streaming service) since I sometimes forget and find out later my data pool took a huge hit! I just received my S21 Ultra and this video was a big help dealing with Bixby so keep it up.
This is a fantastic video. Thank you so much. I have subscribed and will work my way through your other videos. Just bought a new Samsung and did not even know what Bixby was. Now I do. You have a great presentation. You don't waste time, you don't go too fast, and you explain very clearly. It was a fairly long video, but it was all necessary, and worth every minute. I'm SO glad I stumbled across it!
I was annoyed to even have Bixby on my phone, but now since I know how useful it is I will use it. I think I will like the part most where I can make a text and send it al at one time without alot of hand use! lThank you so much for this very informative tutorial!
I was trying to figure out how to use Bixby and found this video. BAM! I'm up and running from watching this video. Thank you TheHiTechNomad! This is one of the most comprehensive tutorial videos I have used on TH-cam. Keep up the good work and I am subscribing to your channel NOW!
The HiTechNomad, this video has been one of the best presentations you have ever developed and provided to your followers. Bixby has been an unknown "creature of software" that I said I would take time and master the application so as not to have a wasteful application on my phone. Having a Ph.D. in physics, I considered the total usefulness of Bixby as one of my retirement projects, but thanks to you my questions and usage are answered. You should consider being commissioned (paid) by Samsung to increase the use of Bixby for Samsung users ("Like Bixby Virtual Assistance Made Easy" instructions). Really enjoy your videos and consider each a masterpiece for android users. Thanks for your professional technical presentations.
Thank you, it's good to know when doing videos like this that viewers find them useful. In some sense I am an ambassador for Samsung but I think I'm an honest ambassador because I will say when something is good and I will say when something is bad. If I were on their payroll I may not be able to do that LOL seriously thank you very much. Thanks to you and other loyal Nomad'ers we'll keep pumping out videos.
I'm about to get a Galaxy A21 this week, and have been looking around at various Bixby tutorials. Yours is by far the best I've found. All the details with no wasted space! I thought I detected a slight Boston accent when you first started talking. Anyway... thanks!
Glad I could help, Yep you are correct sir, Boston it is! If you like Bixby and want to expand check out - IFTTT ( th-cam.com/video/BmPwFox34HA/w-d-xo.html ) and Join/Tasker (th-cam.com/video/BmPwFox34HA/w-d-xo.html)
Loved all your info, just got a S24+. I get nervous thinking of all the things I need to remember using Bixby!! But here i am, trying to learn from you, thank you so much!!
Happy to help, its a useful tool, I've found there is a lot about the Note 20 that Samsung doesn't really let people know. I'll keep making videos...lol Thank you for your support!
Congratulations, you're the first person to leave a comment about timestamps on any of my videos! Thank you very much it does take a while to add them. However TH-cam experimenting with having artificial intelligence create them but until now it's regular intelligence Thank you for the comment.
You're showing your age with the Napoleon Solo and Mr Waverley. Actually, I'm showing my age by admitting I know what you're talking about. Damn! Is the 1st time I've actually thought I might be able to learn Bixby. Thank you for your excellent video!
Good tutorial. I use Bixby all of the time. As far as phone settings, you can go as deep as the menus do, just have to be specific. I agree, the voice recognition needs work along with sensitivity. As an example. I can go into a different room and say Ok google and it will here me, but holding the phone and saying," Hi bixby" and nothing. I wish Samsung had a Bixby support site where you could converse with the techs
have you looked at the routines section of Bixby I'm getting ready to do a video on that now also I would suggest looking at both Tasker and the service IFTTT to expand on your phone's capabilities all of which we cover on this channel
@@TheHiTechNomad Yes and the quick commands. Have Bixby set up with smart things so when I come home at night my front door lights up, house lights go on, cameras go off etc. It's really amazing what you can do. Please keep the videos coming!
This video was very informative! I had Bixby on my note 10+. I totally ignored it! But I noticed on my note 20 ultra if I held this button down long enough bixby would pop up! So finally I am trying to learn it! And this video got me off to a great start! Thanks!
Thank you for the very helpful video. I've not used Bixby before, now I can see how useful a tool this can be. (Especially as I drive a lot) Been using it for an hour or so and I like it a lot!
Glad I could help. I just posted the second part in the series - Bixby Routines (teach Bixby to do this automatically) - th-cam.com/video/oCzvv4bOALw/w-d-xo.html
Being the stubborn person that I am I have been trying to figure out Bixby with little success. Thank you!!! This has been extremely helpful. I am currently undergoing cancer treatment and chemo brain is REAL. I have been struggling to remember pretty much everything, grrrrrr. This will be very useful. 😊
Happy to help, Bixby is for the masses, the program Tasker while a little difficult to start with, has so so many features and combined with and Amazon Echo you can truly have smart home/device experience. I will be doing videos on both shorly, however can you think of a situation or task that if it were automated would make you life easier, do not limit yourself...
You're most welcome I try to keep it to the basics there's a lot more than it can do I might do a second video if there's enough interest make sure to check out the cheat sheet I created I'll keep that up to date technomad.link/bixbycommands
I like this feature on my Samsung, and use it almost every day. He's really handy for me. I prefer the remote setting, as hands free is more useful to me in my line of work, ie...vocational driver. So I give all my commands after I initially say " hi bixby" or " hay bixby" when you wake during the night, and can't be asked to turn over to look at your clock, (lazy I know) it's easier to just ask bixby to " say out loud the current time please" and he (bixby) will. Your vlog was interesting and useful. Thank you 😊
Thank you for the kind words. I'm getting ready to post a video about Google Assistant, the neat thing is is that you don't have to choose one or the other. I'm going to be recommending using both.
This was very helpful. The reminder tip was great. I wish you had covered "Quick Commands". I also wish you had told us what to do if Bixby doesn't open the right photo gallery (Google instead of Samsung) or won't send a text because you aren't using Samsung Messages as your default program.
you're most welcome as I mentioned I think it's some of the other comments if you love Bixby you will absolutely go nuts over Tasker Tasker allows you to do so much more with you than Bixby ever could we also have a large selection of Tasker tutorials in the members only section only because people don't know to look for it if we put them up on TH-cam they get load Hughes and we actually lose money if I stick it in the members-only section and someone becomes a memory even watch one video at least I make $2 LOL
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the video you mentioned that you made on how to get bixby to save to Google calendar (or was it just about syncing calendars? I can't find either. ) can you add the link maybe? I already have my samsung calendar app showing my Google calendar, is that all I need to do to get it to save to Google calendar? My husband and I have a shared separate Google account, (other than our individual Google accounts) added on our phones, so for that shared account, we only sync the calendar and contacts to each of our phones. That way we use the same contacts list and don't make appointments on days that we both have plans etc. I'm sure there is much easier ways to do this now, I don't actually think we need the shared account for the calendar part anymore with googles calendar sharing, but I set it up like almost a decade ago, before there was many other options. So this system works for us.... BUT If I want to start using bixby to save my appointments, it needs to be able to save to our shared account. (Or better yet. Let me choose which calendar to use for each appointment or reminder.) I'm rambling. Thanks very much for your great video.
I also just added a video on using Bixby routines (th-cam.com/video/oCzvv4bOALw/w-d-xo.html) to make Bixby do things automatically and I have a series of videos in the member only section which is available to members only (hint hint...lol... Become a memeber: th-cam.com/channels/kSdo9YWZhb8z0A8qmbuW1A.htmljoin )
I tested out Bixby the other day, I thought that it was really cool that I could tell it to "take me to [restaurant] on [specific street]" and it opened google maps to the correct address I wanted to go to. It would also start navigating immediately with saved addresses, like "take me home" or "take me to work" and bam ready to go. Unfortunately, it's pretty much useless to me when it won't function at all without wifi or data. I don't like to use data and I just want a hands free voice assistant while I'm driving sense I can't use my Garmin and it's voice command features anymore. I wish it had reduced offline features, like I don't need to ask it how tall the Eiffel Tower is or even what the weather will be like; I just want a voice activated UI that can send texts, make calls, and utilize my offline maps to take me around town or use my downloaded routes when I go on a long trip.
Great video. I consider myself a power user and try to see what's new with bixby every 3 to 4 months. I use voice recognition a lot and bixby is just slow and sluggish. Got any tips for actually improving the speed and accuracy of bixby voice recognition?
This is sort of a sideways answer however I would say you might really benefit from looking at the program Tasker. I will be doing a members-only series on it shortly however it combines the ability to control the phone with the improved accuracy of voice recognition as powered by Google. There are also ways of using your Amazon Echo and a program like IFTTT to control your phone using that device as well it can get pretty freaky. For example when I get ready to make a podcast I say "Alexa, let's do a podcast" and via Tasker it puts my phone on Do Not Disturb"
You have such pretty white teeth!! 😍 lol no but for real, thank you for making this video!! Prior to watching, I was only using Bixby for sending text messages (have had this phone going on 2 years & only done it 2x). Have this set to watch later, so I can finish after work.
Thank you for sharing this. I just purchased a phone recently with what is the new version of this on it and it is really good as I used to have S Voice and I actually had a good experience on my Notes with that and realised straight away as soon as I saw it it was the replacement but so far I've really found it very intelligent and much better than Google 👍 maybe newer version.
My buddy always uses Bixby, I never use it, but I can see how helpful it can be used in an emergency situation, like calling 911 if you're alone, hurt or injured, so I test it, and keep it updated.
My assistant is the same way, she doesn't use it all the but keeps it available in case she needs it or changes her mind. Do you keep it on or do you just keep it updated?
Excellent, I've gotten a much better understanding of the purpose of Bixby. I have started using all the commands you demonstrated. I think that Samsung needs to do a better job of explaining that.
Thank you and you are very welcome. If you like Bixby you might be interested in Tasker. Its a program that allows you to create your own applications on your phone. For example when I get a text message, it plays a sound, tells me who is texting me, asks me if I want to hear the text, if I say yes, it reads me the messages, asks if I want to reply, allows me to dictate a response and sends it all without me having to touch the phone. I'll be adding a step-by-step video shortly.
I plan to use the Reminder feature to tell me what department to go to 10 minutes after I get to Walmart. (Pharmacy). Thank you for showing me this was even possible.
You very welcome. It funny I was just reminder to pick up my meds at Walgreens by Bixby - I can't tell you how many times I would go out and that would probably be the top thing on my list and I would do everything else and then come home and then go OMG I got to go back out to get my meds...lol - make sure the phone does not put Bixby to sleep in the background if it does it won't be able to remind you since it won't be awake all the time you'll find it under the sleeping apps section of your system.
Because of this video I finally updated bixby for my S8 active. Think I'm gonna get the s22 ultra soon so I mind as well start learning all these features I paid for but never used
Thank you very much Bixby is actually integrated into a lot of Samsung devices for example my television set so I can actually change channels and increase the volume plus I can trigger that from my phone which is also pretty cool I made a new video trying to expand the uses of Bixby it's available here - th-cam.com/video/z30Y9B_jfBI/w-d-xo.html
I have Bixby in Apps, do I have to install it? Launch it? Because when I go to Advanced features I don't have what you showed like the side key. Will Google Voice do the same as Bixby?
You shouldn't have to install anything that should have already come and if you don't have the side key you should be able to go into your apps and find the Bixby app and open it. Google home and Amazon Echo AKA Alexa voice recognition systems that you can use for variety of things and why you can do some things on your phone most of the things that Bixby can do nothing else can do Bixby has direct control over your phone in terms of volume display and many other things so you would use that in combination with one of the other two not as a replacement. Where you able to open up Bixby?
Hey man when i ask the weather it always comes two options (accweather, the weather channel). I need to say which one i need to ask from and it's so annoying. Any way of fixing this please
Do you have a video with a way to get Bixby to recognize your voice better? My bixby gets it right so infrequently that I've been very frustrated with it
It seems like enabling "Hey Google" can perform most of these tasks perhaps better except taking photos and a few phone specific settings . Its good that there are competing companies in this space but google is spending so much on AI right now it seems like they will take over pretty quickly.
you're quite welcome I am actually working on a second video covering Bixby routines, if you could have your phone do something automatically for you what would it be?
Good video, but the issue is that u have to use the button always. That is its downfall. Can it be used handsfree driving and be the voice connected to bluetooth but not using Android Audio. So truly hands free us the Bixby to make the call not my car`s system?
You're very welcome I am actually working on an updated version because there's now something called routines plus that allow you to do some pretty amazing things that should be the next video that comes out so if you are a subscriber you will be notified or if you want to get it even sooner if you're a member you'll get it days before everyone else either way thank you very much for your support
I do not have access to an a11 so I can't personally atest to it, however from poking around I was able to see several references that say that the a11 does indeed come with Bixby.
So I turned on speak seamlessly, but now I want it to go back to the off setting. The trouble is that no matter what I do, Bixby wont go back to responding to me when I say hi bixby. I even restarted the phone. Anyone else have this issue?
Bixby is supplied by Samsung and is free of charge to use. i just posted a second part of the video showing how to use Bixby Routines (th-cam.com/video/oCzvv4bOALw/w-d-xo.html) and I've added extra content in out Memebers Only section ( th-cam.com/channels/kSdo9YWZhb8z0A8qmbuW1A.htmljoin)
I don't have an A11 myself however I did just take a quick look at the Samsung website and it does mention that Bixby is available. A quick way check is to see if you have a "Bixby" key. If have a three buttons, a power button, a volume rocker and then other would be the "Bixby" key a quick press would let you know. Please let me know your results so that I will know in future for others. Thx
I mostly use the Bixby Routines and things like Flash on or new contact. If you really want something powerful check out the videos I did on Tasker it is a complete programming app like bixby on steroids. It will work with your voice I use it to read my text messages and then ask me for a responsse that it sends all with out me having to touch it...
On new devices the power button doubles as the Bixby key. Here is a link showing how to reassign it - technomad.link/3vTAxMn Which Bixby feature do you like best?
I don't have an a71, however if you go into Bixby, go into settings, you should see a button that says "Voice wake up" if so turn that on and it will respond to "Hey, Bixby" - Let me know as I'm sure there are other a71 subscribers watching. Thank you
Yes you can set Bixby to automatically just listen for your voice - going to fix be click on settings and look for Voice Wake Up turn that on and when you say "hi Bixby" it will activate. Also check thus out as a possible solution - th-cam.com/video/n7Xpfj6H4WA/w-d-xo.html
It should since it's an android app. It doesn't require a lot of CPU power since it is not actually running anything on the phone it's just acting as as screen mirroring software. Check the website and make sure that shadow is available in your area first that's probably the going to be the bigger issue
I wish Samsung or Android would do something about messages. Every time I text messages or vice versa with either pics/ videos or neither to an iPhone the pics or videos is distorted.

Great video. I will be using Bixby from now on. I can't believe I shut it off when I got my phone. It is going to be a game changer!
Thank you. My assistant said the same thing when I asked her if she used it, what features do you think you will use most?
I’m glad I found this channel I like this channel I’m subscribing to this channel
Where did you get your home screen clock?
Excellent information. Very well done, and I learned so much! Thank you!
Hi how did u get that big digital clock on your home screen. Is that also available on the locks screen??
I use Beautiful Widgets Pro - play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levelup.beautifulwidgets&hl=en_US&gl=US
once set up a bixby routine, it's not allowing to edit one of my routines, only allows to use it or delete it.
I have not done a routine in a week or so they do keep changing the interface but I would not be surprised if that is the case unfortunately
Awesome information. New Subscriber. Thank You, very time saving had no clue till I watched this.
Welcome new traveler, is there a particular device or piece of equipment you are hoping to learn more about here?
Thank you for an amazing how to use Bixby tutorial very helpful.
You are very welcome. If you want more control check out Tasker...it's like Bixby on steroids
You have such pretty white teeth!! 😍 lol no but for real, thank you for making this video!! Prior to watching, I was only using Bixby for sending text messages (have had this phone going on 2 years & only done it 2x). Have this set to watch later, so I can finish after work.
Thank you very much. I will discuss this in an upcoming video where I show you how to link Bixby with amazon echo.
Fantastic and informative, Nomad. Thank you!
Thank you.. I totally didnt get Bixby.. you definitely got me going like I love it. Thanks🤳
You are very welcome. If you really want to make your phone work for you check out IFTTT - th-cam.com/video/BmPwFox34HA/w-d-xo.html
I came for Bixby, I stayed for the Boston accent and smooth jazz background music 😂
“Remind me to buy a goat.” OK saved. I’m sold.
LOL..can never have to many goats! Which Bixby feature do you like the best?
@@TheHiTechNomad The only reason to buy one. Here in South Korea I was at s big department store E Mart last Thursday. They were on sale for $417.
Where you able to open up Bixby?
hands free feature is better than the button...scroll up, got to home screen, lock phone are really cool stuff
Some one from Samsung actually reached out to me asking me to take another look at the hands. Its much better than the last time I used it.
Do you have a utube video using Bisby on Galaxy watch 4?
My mom was about to destroy the phone thank you very much 😂❤
Hey man when i ask the weather it always comes two options (accweather, the weather channel). I need to say which one i need to ask from and it's so annoying. Any way of fixing this please
I have the same issue, just started asking me like a day ago. I hope someone answers you.
When it's speaking, to get it to stop, using your finger on the screen swipe down and then swipe up. Let me know if that answers your question - Thx
I think the reminder feature seems to be the one I would use... lol... thanks for this video 👍
My assistant says that is the one she uses most too. Are there any other features you've found useful since then?
Is Bixby any different to 'Hey Google', as those features are old hat on Google? What's the benefit of Bixby over Google?
Can i integrate with Google calendar
Please send link to your video so I can sync Google with samsung, I can't find it.
Do you have a video with a way to get Bixby to recognize your voice better? My bixby gets it right so infrequently that I've been very frustrated with it
When you use the take a selfie command then use the take a picture command a second selfie seems to be taken
It seems like enabling "Hey Google" can perform most of these tasks perhaps better except taking photos and a few phone specific settings . Its good that there are competing companies in this space but google is spending so much on AI right now it seems like they will take over pretty quickly.
Love this thank you!
you're quite welcome I am actually working on a second video covering Bixby routines, if you could have your phone do something automatically for you what would it be?
Good explanation of Bixby. Thanks
How to get it on A12? Or A13
I never knew! Thanks so much!
Thank you very much. It can also be used with Google Home and Amazon Echo. It'll be released soon.
Would you be so kind to explain how to get the widget at the bottom row of your home screen please? Thank you!
Go into your screen display settings!
Great Video..... But how do I set up Bixby?
hella helpful...just amazing
Glad that I could help, what features do you think you'll get the most use out of?
CAn someone send the link on how to sync phone calendar to google calendar?
Am failing to make it start it keeps saying error when it gets to putting my line
The location hint, best thanks.
You are welcome, what device do you have?
Good video, but the issue is that u have to use the button always. That is its downfall. Can it be used handsfree driving and be the voice connected to bluetooth but not using Android Audio. So truly hands free us the Bixby to make the call not my car`s system?
You actually can turn on in the advanced menu that it will function using the command "Hey Bixby"
Thank you
You're very welcome I am actually working on an updated version because there's now something called routines plus that allow you to do some pretty amazing things that should be the next video that comes out so if you are a subscriber you will be notified or if you want to get it even sooner if you're a member you'll get it days before everyone else either way thank you very much for your support
@@TheHiTechNomad looking forward to it
My bixby is stuck in koren language on my S20 FE 5G. How can I get it switched back to English? Video would be helpful to show. Thanks!!
I'm away on vacation. Is it still stuck? If so, please send an e-mail: questions@thehitechnomad.com
question.does samsung galaxy a11 have bixby
I do not have access to an a11 so I can't personally atest to it, however from poking around I was able to see several references that say that the a11 does indeed come with Bixby.
Thank you this information.👍 very nice Bixby 👍👌👌
Ssssooooo...how do you keep bixby from reading your text messages aloud?
When it starts swipe down, then swipe up...
So I turned on speak seamlessly, but now I want it to go back to the off setting. The trouble is that no matter what I do, Bixby wont go back to responding to me when I say hi bixby. I even restarted the phone. Anyone else have this issue?
How much will it cost to use this Bixby. Thank you
Bixby is supplied by Samsung and is free of charge to use. i just posted a second part of the video showing how to use Bixby Routines (th-cam.com/video/oCzvv4bOALw/w-d-xo.html) and I've added extra content in out Memebers Only section ( th-cam.com/channels/kSdo9YWZhb8z0A8qmbuW1A.htmljoin)
How do I talk to bixby on a galaxy a11
I don't have an A11 myself however I did just take a quick look at the Samsung website and it does mention that Bixby is available. A quick way check is to see if you have a "Bixby" key. If have a three buttons, a power button, a volume rocker and then other would be the "Bixby" key a quick press would let you know. Please let me know your results so that I will know in future for others. Thx
Can it be accepted in different languages.
Bixby is available in different languages which language were you looking for?
It is not available in Dutch, waiting for it for years now. It's pretty useless without language support.
I wanna give Bixby a shot but having to hold down that button just seems like more trouble than convenience
The Bixby button is at a different place for the S10+ and there is no side key listed.
On new devices the power button doubles as the Bixby key. Here is a link showing how to reassign it - technomad.link/3vTAxMn
Which Bixby feature do you like best?
Nice video. Very helpful. Any idea how to get it to recognize the name Cheryl instead of Sheryl? Yikes
can u do one for S21?
just checking in did you get it up and running yet?
no but thnks for the concern
Great job
Thanks!!
Which feature do you like the best?
Im trying to change it from using Spotify to using TH-cam music
How can I use my Bixby without pressing d side botton, am using Samsung Galaxy A71 5g
I don't have an a71, however if you go into Bixby, go into settings, you should see a button that says "Voice wake up" if so turn that on and it will respond to "Hey, Bixby" - Let me know as I'm sure there are other a71 subscribers watching.
Thank you
Fantastic video
I need to be able to talk to Bixby in the car, without pressing the side button? Is this possible?
Yes you can set Bixby to automatically just listen for your voice - going to fix be click on settings and look for Voice Wake Up turn that on and when you say "hi Bixby" it will activate. Also check thus out as a possible solution - th-cam.com/video/n7Xpfj6H4WA/w-d-xo.html
Will this work on m51
It should since it's an android app. It doesn't require a lot of CPU power since it is not actually running anything on the phone it's just acting as as screen mirroring software. Check the website and make sure that shadow is available in your area first that's probably the going to be the bigger issue
I wish Samsung or Android would do something about messages. Every time I text messages or vice versa with either pics/ videos or neither to an iPhone the pics or videos is distorted.
Thanks for the video very helpful
You're very welcome, Bixby is very useful it's just been hated on all these years. Which feature do you see yourself using the most?
Hello, can l use bixby without pressing the button?
Only by calling her
And i means like talking without saying each time hi bixby before it
Were you able to enable the "Alway Listen" feature ok?
