    I just finished this ‘quick fix’ repair on an MPK225 after watching your video. It’s been having key issues happening for quite a while now. I figured it had to be filthy inside. because the keys were shorting out one by one. It turned out to be filthy. This is the first midi controller I’ve ever opened up and attempted a repair on. Being afraid I was gonna mess something up was always a fear of mine. I guess we’ll see how long this fix lasts. Fingers crossed! 🤞😂
    Thanks for the demo.

    Can it also solve velocity issues? Some of my keys are only playing at maximum velocity

      The had this problem some months after this cleaning, too. Very unfortunately, a second cleaning did not help :( I am working around in software by limiting the max. velocity. Currently, I am looking for new rubber contact mats. No luck so far :(

      You will need to replace the PCB. It's not the rubber mats. There's no other way around than getting rid of the PCB. Unfortunately they're hard to find separately. So you will need to buy the whole keyboard for around $250. That's for sure a rip off. You can try to put some thin layer of solder on the contacts, but you will most likely not solve the issue without replacing the PCB. This keyboard is cheap China stuff. No wonder every MPK261 is having this issue sooner or later. AKAI Professional is not even AKAI anymore. It's just brand licensing and that's never a good sign. The licensee is inMusic who also makes the crippled M-Audio keyboards and other cheap stuff brands. You better head towards quality brands like Kawai, Korg, Roland or Yamaha. They are still having a good R&D, are still standing behind their brand name themselves and are commited to quality ever since. No fooling around with brands that once were great.
      "AIR Music Technology, Akai Professional, Alesis, Alto Professional, M-Audio, MPC, Numark, and Strip Search are trademarks of inMusic Brands, Inc."
      Avoid these kind brands that are just empty shells filled with cheap Chinese parts and licensed by some company that has no real history in musical equipment. Go for the real stuff.@@sg75

      @@CGWS2011 Absolutely. Contacting their "customer support" for help is nothing but a dead end waste of time as well. InMusic is nothing but predatory venture capital investing hiding under then names of once-good companies. A sad end, really.

    Good evening, where can I find these rubber keys? Can you help me? I can't find them here in Brazil. God bless your life

      I searched a lot, too. Unfortunately, I can not find them anywhere on the Internet either 😞 You can try to refurbish the contacts on the rubber keys yourself. Search for repair kits for remote controls.

    miss the none working sequence and the all key test !
    how about the force pressure linearity (is the cleaning does it better ) cause i notice several key failed with it ?

    • @sg75
      @sg75  ปีที่แล้ว

      It gets better, but not as good as it was when the keyboard was new. Some keys were still less sensitive than others, but the keyboard was at least playable again.

      I have the files still on my hard drive. I can make a longer version. Is just too fast or do you need more details from the opening procedure?
