Pixar and technology don't mix? Cars, Toy Story, and Monster Inc are all movies that have main plot threads that are about old tech coming to terms with being replaced by new tech.
Remember that article from two months ago discussing Pixar’s future, and those quotes from Pete Doctor that heavily imply that the studio will no longer allow directors to make films of artful expression and instead focus primarily on sequels and/or films of lesser quality (presumably with a low as sin budget), in order to appeal to a wider demographic of audiences? This movie looks like it’ll be a byproduct of that. My biggest fear is Pixar will eventually become Illumination in the sense that they’ll prioritize profit over artistic merit by producing dull, bland, inoffensive mush that doesn’t strive to say or do anything of substance or meaning. I mean, this sounds like a premise that Illumination would come up with, doesn’t it? I guess we’ll wait and see, but if this movie ends up being typical generic kiddie fodder, I think it’ll be safe to say that the powerhouse animation studio we once knew from our youth is officially cooked.
@Simbala-bq5vy It's something people say about pixar fims. All of their basic premises are: 'what if x had feelings?' What if toys and feelings, what if cars had feelings, etc, etc.
Is it just me, or is Pixar split into two parts? One that’s doing something completely different, and one that’s just trying to improve the animation they’re good at? Like… look at Turning Red… and then this movie…
I can't say I like the animation styles of Red, Luca, and the Mitchells. It's too "big" for me, too much about over-the-top key frames and super rushed tweens that makes it feel too frenetic, like it's competing for attention from an audience that needs lots of flashing colors and jingling keys. It looks alright in stills but the energy is just doesn't work for me
There's no real style to any of them. You watch older Disney movies, and you can see the difference between a 9 Old Men picture and a Glen Keane/Disney Renaissance picture. CGI is too homogeneous, especially the movies from the last 5-10ish years.
As someone who used to watch We Bare Bears, I'm actually pretty excited for Hoppers. Sure the story may sound cliche, but if it's executed well, the movie might turn out great.
I am tired of body swap stories. They are hard to get right and they are horribly overplayed. This will be a tricky one and in a time of flops being the norm and expected at this point I will not hold my breath for it.
And an environmental message at that. It’s a great cause, sure, but I can only watch animals storm an industrial site/town so many times in so many movies.

I think I figured out what the plot will be about. The girl controls the robot beaver and befriends beavers, but then, he discovers that a villain would want to destroy them. This girl sees this, so, she will probably travel to where the beavers are and stop the villain, explaining how she has mystical connection to beavers. She will have partners and friends helping her. Maybe that's the plot or I could be wrong.
You know, When I first saw that concept art, I thought "Wouldn't it make more sense if it was a rabbit? Since the movie's called HOPPERS and rabbits are know to HOP?"

Honestly, I am not at all interested in this one, just like I have been with the most recent Pixar films. I'm tired of these Pixar body-swap/body-transform films. Soul, Turning Red, Luca, have the same odd concept. It's like since Lasseter left, they have this frenzy obsession with body-swapping. Lightyear was the only one I remotely enjoyed, and frankly, it didn't have this body-swap thing. Inside Out 2 was great as well because it didn't have this concept and could be rather symbolic. What I loved about Pixar were the stories they made that didn't involve this weird aspect and were in a more believable world such as Toy Story, Cars, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, WALL-E, and Ratatouille. Yes, there were aspects that were clearly fictious, but they felt real and logically they made enough sense that it made them enjoyable. I'm not on board for this one.
