As I've mentioned in your comments before, I only discovered Curiosity Show about 2 years ago. And that was only in thanks to your kindness in sharing your work on TH-cam. I was a fan from the first video I watched, sometimes watch older uploads and continue to look forward to each new upload. Guys like you really do make a positive impact on the world. Bear -- who we also grew up with! :) THANKYOU for making our afternoon-after-school at home more interesting. We didn't even consciously realise we were being educated after school hours, because it just seemed naturally interesting, especially thanks to your presentation and sense of humour, both of which are engaging for people of all ages, including parents, and being about science it makes humans of all ages ask questions and promote discussion, which makes it an extra-awesome family-friendly education-encouraging format!
This was one of my absolute favourite TV shows in Germany as a child. Tried to catch every episode and could sing along with the theme song. I’m amazed now by the quality of the presentation and the experiments. They’re very interesting and engaging even now. TV for me back then was watching curiosity show and then going back to my room and trying to build things and do the experiments on my own. With their calm and somber tone Rob and Dean are as much a delight to watch now as they were then. I always felt like they were taking kids seriously and didn’t patronize or belittle their audience.
I feel very fortunate that I grew up in Adelaide where the @CuriosityShow was produced and even as a child I remember being impressed by not only the nature of the content itself, but the dynamic way it was presented, along with the always engaging personality of Rob and Deane, that really impacted your sense of focus upon that content. The show's very presence also definitely influenced the way I and my friends viewed science, as it often became a focal point of discussion at school, sharing our thoughts and activities regarding the recent episodes. Whilst it didn't necessarily lead me into a science career, it certainly helped amplify a lifelong sense of curiosity about the world around me and for that I am always grateful.
When I was growing up in the 90s in the US, it wasn't uncommon to be called a nerd or a dork for liking science or computers. I never once let it stop me, and I now embrace my geekiness even though I'm now 39. I really wish we had this program in the 90s in the US. I would have loved it!
Why are these guys not given OAM status? I grew up in the early 80s when I religiously watched this program and now have given my son an autographed DVD Dean and Rob released. He loves it! Thanks guys you’re a national treasure.

I have good memories of watching The Curiosity Show. I think in some small way it did influence the interest in science I had when I was younger. I did not pursue a career in this field but I do still have an interest in learning new things and understanding the world around me.

The world needs more Curiosity Show. Deane & Rob are international treasures & Legends. I wish i had been shown them when i was a kid. Beats the heck out of that complete fraud Bill Nye. He'd tell you the moon was made of cheese if you paid him enough....
When I was 10 I had one of these money making machines. Of course I was only financially capable of building a machine advanced enough to produce $1 and $2 notes - not $5's. I still have the photograph of me "hanging them out to dry". I loved Curiosity Show so much that as a 12yo I was hit by a car (driven by my primary school vice-principal) while rushing across the road in a hurry to get home and not miss the show. I've never fully recovered from that physically, but on the bright side, neither have I ever recovered from the love of science.
As a limey (or pompous Brit to all you non-upside-down people), I like to think of Curiosity Show as 'Aussie Blue Peter'. It shares the same core idea, but features less silly challenges in favour of down to earth practicality. Only with more hammers, saw blades, and matches.
Great show - I remember making, with them a torch out of a small lamp, 2 AA batteries and some aluminium foil. This started my life long interest in electricity and wanting to know how things work. I have been in the electrical industry now for about 38 years and now also an avid electronics hobbiest. This show should be also on today.
Wish you guys dressed up in 70's fashion for this. Maybe those tight shorts with long socks for the conservative look, or the cord trousers and skin tight drip dry/ permanent press shirts you had back then. Been enjoying your TH-cam reofferings! I loved science up until middle school. The moment I felt "forced" to learn it I just didn't want to anymore.. Its pretty messed up when you really think about it.
What turns people off science? Pay. There is no shortage of people working in finance (many of them with science degrees). What attracts them - are we cultivating an interest in finance in our kids? If you are bright enough to be a scientist, you can do something else that pays better and is probably less demanding. In the UK many people who work in labs have not got a bachelor's degree or higher. Who in a legal firm would allow this? But there is no protection of the profession the way there is in law, medicine etc. When I was at university the government's requirements for science graduates numbers made the college have to accept poorer quality students. In order to allow them to graduate, the courses were dumbed down. We were told (yes, the university admitted this to us!) that most probably this would lead to an MSc becoming a requirement to do a PhD (in many countries it already was, not in the UK). That was 20 years ago and that is still not the case in the UK and in fact the government talks about fast-track degrees of 2 years or less. Same old story. Tell the children - do not pursue a career in science. Regardless of how much you eventually make, you will have worked harder for it than you needed to. Finance loves graduates of the hard sciences. Work with people you are smarter than, for more money and less effort.
