I work for a major State college here in East Tennessee. We definitely had our share of calls and emails to the I.T department from the Crowdstrike issue. Our 3rd-party services affected by it were thankfully restored within 2 hours. It's ALWAYS awesome to see a new video from Mr. Sujano whether I'm watching at work or at home on my Windows 10, Linux Mint or Android devices.
It’s actually a CrowdStrike issue. It’s just that MS updates push them through. CrowdStrike is a pointless company that’s somehow made themselves seem indispensable such that enterprise level clients are coerced to use it. Why they can't hire competent programmers who can do proper regression testing is the bigger question.
I was called in early so I could go around to a bunch of computers and fix the issue with CrowdStrike. It wasn't too bad for us. The fix was fairly simple for most machines. I did have two computers with an NVME controller for which the Windows 11 recovery partition didn't have drivers. I ended up booting into a Xubuntu 24.04 live disk and fixing the issue from there. We had one laptop that had Bitlocker applied to the C: drive. We don't know how that happened; we don't have an encryption key for it, so it has to be rebuilt.
I normally feel that your reporting is fairly even handed, but not so in blaming Microsoft and Windows. The software that is causing this IT outage comes from a third party with no relationship to Microsoft called Crowdstrike. Their update disabled computers because of the code that they added causes a BoD during boot. This company's software takes over a lot of the computer's interfaces attempting to block cyber attacks and for monitoring.
@@MrSujano The title to your video is "Huge Windows/Microsoft Global IT Catastrophe", not "Huge Crowdstrike Catastrophe". At 0:37, you show an article that says "Microsoft breakdown causes chaos". In fact, I develop on/with Linux more than Windows, but to imply that Microsoft had a hand in this mess isn't accurate.
In fairness, I see your point about the title and have changed it. I still stand by my point that this is bad for Microsoft/Windows. The CloudStike update caused a global issue for Windows. Regardless as to whether or not Windows was responsible, it was most certainly impacted. It's certainly not a good day for Windows. If Linux was impacted the same way Windows was, I would have said it's a bad day for Linux.

I have Linux Mint Debian Edition and windows 10 on this pc, about 6 or 7 months ago I started to use more linux and decided only use windows (offline and for emulation and gaming only), turned off the automatic updates (permanently) and removed a lot of non necessary stuff from the system. Not sure why the blame to Microsoft, the issue was not Microsoft, the problem was with Crowdstrike security software and a bad pushed update from their part. Yes it happen to affect Microsoft systems but blaming Microsoft for something they where not even at fault nor in control of is just not fair. Not saying i love Microsoft but we need to be fair whet it counts :)
My guess is that the thought process will be: "Windows was down, Microsoft is bad."
@@MrSujano reading a lot of comments out there it seems that everyone had that mindset this morning lol...mode than the usual i guess ;)
