    I completely understand that feeling of brining the spark back to photography when you carry one with you at all times - my Lumix GX800 and 40mm equivalent f1.7 lens is exactly what I need for this myself and once the images are processed in DXO even low light shots come out clean. Honestly I'd love an updated body but for now I am happy to enjoy what I have.

    "Document the Experience" is well said Mitch. My Sony Xperia 5 iv is my default camera and its lens is awesome for casual yet execellent astrophotography and day trips\hikes. For serious astrophoto, I always use my Fuji off course.

    I'm in my mid-seventies and my everyday carry camera is a point-and-shoot Sony RX100 VII. When I was your age I lugged heavy and bulky DLSRs as my everyday carry. I never thought of carrying small cameras. Then, I guess I wanted to be prepared for those "right moments" with the right equipment.

    • @porfiry
      @porfiry ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, film SLRs up to the mid 80s were quite small...my Nikon FE with a 50mm lens is probably smaller and lighter than the Sony in this video. Ditto on the Canon A-1 I had in the 80s. Of course, they didn't shoot video and such, and they could get bulky with motor winders and zoom lenses on them, but it was quite possible back then to have a very svelte and capable rig.

    • @butchgo6130
      @butchgo6130 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@porfiry I have both Canon A-1 (first camera to have Program, Manual, Speed and Aperture priority settings) and the pro F1n SLRs. My F1n had a motor drive and the A-1 a winder. Yep, a tad smaller but somewhat heavier than my Nikon D500 and D850 with battery packs I still carry on short trips. On long hauls, I leave my Nikons behind and simply lug a Sony RX100 VII.

      @@butchgo6130 Those RX100s are really nice, just a little hard to grip. I had the model II and then III back when they were new, and I got pretty amazing pictures out of them. Now when I want small, I just use my Ricoh GR IIIX.

    • @butchgo6130
      @butchgo6130 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@porfiry Just like the pricey Sony RX1RII, Ricoh GR IIIX lacks an optical zoom - a must-have spec for my choice of small cameras. In my travels, I usually sit and take photos from cafes with good vantage points for street activity and picturesque locations. I know there are several point&shoots with zoom lens but Sony's RX100 series feels fine in my hand.

    Great video. I agree that a setup you bring with more often, will get used more often. I own a Sigma FP-L, which I believe is officially the smallest full frame. Many compact lens options, especially if you like shooting manual focus, but the auto focus lenses might not be as compact as the Sony. BTW, the FP-L is 60mp. I have had the camera over a year and I am still in love with it.

    I always take my FX3 with 16-35 PZ f.4 wherever I go. It's only 500g heavier than your setup.

    Ok - it seems like a lot of people completely missed the point of this video so let me address some things:
    1. I never said this is the smallest FF body - I said 'camera setup' - because at this time you can't buy a fast autofocus pancake lens like this for the Sigma FP (yes I'm aware the FP exists).
    2. I never said to buy this exact camera - in fact I stated that you probably shouldn't - because there are other cameras that are cheaper and better IMO - I just happen to already use it for video. Seems no one watched the video til the 6:12 mark
    3. The RX1R is a great camera but you can't switch lenses (I added the note at 6:30 while editing the video)

    • @mattdebyl8806
      @mattdebyl8806 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sigma make lenses that are nearly as small and the camera is quite a bit smaller. RX1 is a digital full frame with lens. You didn’t say ILC camera. I mean if you want a 90mm the Sigma 90/2.8 is the smallest and therefore the Fp + 90mm is smallest. Making provisos just to suit you is and manaplaining it to everyone doesn’t make it true suddenly. Maybe this specific setup is somehow smaller if you set very specific goals, but your dumb title doesn’t reflect that, at all. Didn’t watch your video. Didn’t subscribe. Didn’t hit the bell icon for notifications.

    Great video! I recently picked up the ZV-E1 as well and am impressed with the size. Question: How does the Samyang 35mm 2.8 work for video? Is the autofocus decent? My Sony 35mm 2.8 Zeiss is great for photography but in video mode it has focus breathing (unlike the Sony 35mm 1.8). This tiny pancake lens you have is a fraction of the weight of the 35mm 1.8.

    Man, thank you so much for showing this Samyang 35mm lens! I'm in a situation where I really want a professional quality video camera, so thats why I've been looking at the ZV-E1. I also like taking pictures on the side for fun, like street photography and candid shots, so pairing the ZV-E1 with this lens is the perfect set up.
    This is why I think the ZV-E1 is so much more than a vlog camera that it is marketed to be. It has the same sensor as the FX3 & FX6, thus making it extremely capable of professional cinematic video. All you have to do is just invest in getting a G master. On the other hand, since this camera is only 12 MP, it actually gives a more 'cinematic' look to the photos it takes which I feel like more people prefer, especially on social media. Pair that with this Samyang lens that has character to it and you have some amazing stills.

    Looking too buy a camera for Content Creation jobs for brands, music artists and more...need a solid hybrid camera which performs well in all situations for video (low light etc...) but also want the option to be able to shoot photos on it as well for things such as cover images, carousels for IG...what would you recommend? Currently torn between the A7Cii and the ZV-E1...At the moment I'm leaning towards the A7Cii because it has a view finder and if I get some wedding gigs this may be super helpful when capturing photos....
    Would love to hears thoughts opinions or even another camera option which may work better for that hybrid set up!
    Also another thing I'm wondering is how the ZV-E1 works with a flash gun?

    That's funny I had exactly the same thought today. But I would go for the a6700 + samyang 24 2.8 to get it even smaller. I wanted to get a Ricoh GRIIIx or a Fuji x100v for a very long time but I don't have any other use for them besides the casual photography and the a6700 could be integrated as a B or C cam for everything else I am doing

    Rollei 35 is your friend. One of the smallest full frame cameras ever, with incredible lenses, whether the 2.8 Sonnar, the 3.5 Tessar and Xenar, even the Triotar isn't bad. If you can handle the zone focus and often broken meter, it is so much fun to shoot.

    I often have my A7C in a small bag with me (and at times when I want to be even lighter the RX100mkI). I usually have the Sony 28-60/4-5.6 on, or one or two of the small Sony or Samyang lenses. I also often have an additional grip extension from Austin so my pinky finger also get some rest and it is also easier to carry the body in one hand with the grip, but it does make it a little heavier. I have the 35/2.8 but it was a long time ago it got to see some sunshine, so I will try your setup with my A7C and also without the grip extension. The ZV-E1 is a tiny bit smaller and lighter then the A7C but not by much so my setup should be quite close to yours. Thanks for the video!

    • @lattesweden
      @lattesweden 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mirrorlessny The 28-60 is surprisingly sharp and also stands pointing towards the sun without flaring, which means you don't need a hood for it. You can also get a decent sunstar at f16-f22 (without too much diffraction softness). It is very light. On the downside you have to turn into shooting position and then it protrudes and get longer. Also f4-5.6 isn't for low light or shallow depth of field. Though headshots at 28 mm f4 looks quite good (and have about the same uncompressed facial look as a smartphone selfie which people are used to these days). Summary: As a daytime lens it works very well.
      My small kit is the Samyang 24/1.8, the 28-60 and the Samyang 75/1.8. All sharp and light.

    The FP is smaller and yes you can make a smaller set up but more limited as a camera especially with only an electronic shutter. You can also consider the Sony RX1RII with its 35mm F2 lens. It's quite remarkable.

  • @IDaumI

    Really wish Sony updated the RX1R line, such a great form factor. You think they would with the popularity of the X100V, but I guess you can at least get close to it with the Sammy 35 2.8 on the A7CR. Hope the Sigma FP gets a follow up too. Just so brimming with potential.

    The video was made artistically. Thank you for that. However for answering your question, I think It's Canon R8. It has a full frame camera and is compatible with rf and rf-s lenses. It's small size especially combined with and rf-s or a prime lense alongside it's affordable price tag allows you to bring this full-frame tiny bease everywhere. You can charge and use it at the same time with usb-c and record video in 4k/60. The thing that wins me over the ZV-E1 is the electronc view finder that allows to use the camera in harsh sun light. Thank you so much

    i got a sigma fp. basically for a similar setup I completely sacrifice autofocus and adapt zeiss and leica m lenses. Sony has about 1000 times better autofocus, ibis, and video compression codecs but the fp has better image quality if you're a nerd about it. Also I have leica l mount lenses from the tl so it was the more economical choice, since I could get a used summilux tl and an fp for the price of the sony. Sony is way more practical I admit

    LOL...I've been thinking the same thing. I actually ended up with a used a7c (silver for a bit of x100v aesthetic) + Sigma 45 2.8 Contemporary (1/4 Promist for some film vibes). How do you like the Samyang? I sort of like the Sigma Contemporary Series because they have an aperture ring.

    As someone who shot MF film commercially from 1990-2000, I agree that the scanner operator is an integral part of the process. That's why I left film for the OG Nikon D1 when it was released. If you want control, letting a pro lab scan and save a JPEG is no good. As you witnessed on the Noritsu, they are "developing" the raw scan and saving a file (regardless of format) as a fixed entity. Unlike a digital RAW file, you can't just revisit and tweak a scan. That's why I abandoned the hybrid model and stop using chemical photography. Now, if you are shooting film, developing and OPTICALLY printing your work, maybe film makes sense...
