- The Bubonic plague, more commonly known as the Black Death due to the black ‘buboes’ that would swell in the armpits and groins of victims, decimated the population of Europe during the Middle Ages, from 1347 to 1351.
As the plague's death toll increased and people continued to be struck down by the disease throughout Europe and entire families were being wiped out, plague doctors began to get desperate and creative with so-called plague “cures.”

Imagine living in a time like that. Must have been horrific especially not having the knowledge of modern medicine. We’re all very fortunate.
Tragic though, that we refused to use medicine and education to prevent death.

Richard don’t forget blood letting, really, a big problem is that a lot of treatments did more harm than good.
That treatment seemed more sane than the other ones mentioned in the video.

I saw a docu on the plague of London, and there were records of a barber who kept a mummified human head and would clip the moss growing on it off and rub it on people's pox as a cure. My first thought was wondering if anyone asked where he got that mummified human head.

Ironically, rats blood was given out as a cure. Scientists now think that it acted as a primitive vaccine, because rats were naturally immune to the plague, and sometimes it would transfer the rats immunity to humans when drunk.

Plus, it's not fair to force prepubescent girls or rape victims to bear a child they are likely not emotionally or fiscally prepared to take care of anyway. Chemotherapy and radiation, they will look back on that as barbaric, unfortunately, we use it because it is one of the few things that works a lot of the time.
