I wouldn't suggest doing this, but I use my male betta to raise my baby mollies. In my experience, the babies seem to do better with him. This us my second betta to try this with and it works. He treats the fry as his own and protects them. I've even seen him move them to the plants when I'm cleaning and at bed time. Loki is an amazing nanny and I wish everyone could have a loki of their own.
Wow they are tiny🙂 such a cool breeding process, thanks kasia for sharing this! Building resolve to try this myself at some point , I’ve not bred deltas yet. Beautiful window crystals too🤩 thank you!!🙂👍🏻
Amazing how tiny those baby betas are! Would any type of leaf help the micro organisms grow or are you required to have that type? I assume they are imported & thus somewhat pricey, yes? Congratulations to the happy couple & to you. :-)
Hello! Well done and explained. I am conflicted about people spawning bettas. Like anyone. I find that there are not enough homes for them in my area and home spawn dont look as good (purely aesthetic comment) as the ones from specialized store. I always try to buy from a local breeder anyways as i feel like the fish skipped the trauma of life abroad and transport.
When can I remove the betta male? I noticed my first fry on October 2nd. When can I start feeding baby brine shrimp? Thanks for the tip about the almond leaves
Thank you so much! My filter was turned off and it allowed my male to make a nest and breed with a female and now I have babies to care for 😭.(he was sold as a female and didn't show male features until later on. The current at the top of the water kept the water moving. Since he grew up with the females I guess he got used to them and wasn't hostile).

Love this! Really cool to see them grow! Thanks for sharing.
good info about using the IALeaves, thannks
Question: what do you do with the rest of the baby brine shrimp? What if you have some left over? Do they have to be fed live every time?
It's' great to see you revisit this series!
