    Might just be my favorite acoustic intro of all time.

    The beauty of this song matches the heartache I endured when Angie left me in 1975. She was young and had to move on, and I was a young man totally believing in romance. (Just for an extra poke, Helen Reddy came out with her "Angie Baby" just after this.) An amazing work by Richards, who brings back perfectly the depth of my sadness at that time. We are so lucky that the right people came along with the right music for our lives.
    The only Stones song I came close to learning was Lady Jane, and then I didn't take my guitar onward to college. I marvel at musicians who have learned to do what you do.

    There's always been this classic along with Greg Lake's equally fabulous 'From the Beginning' that has been favorite lifelong acoustic songs in my life. Very nicely presented and taught here and thank you!!

    What a great lesson. When I fantasize, and it does involve women, my dreams look like that wall of guitars behind you. It is the Mount Rushmore of guitars!

    Fine job catching some of the Keef nuances. Like you said, he never plays it the same way twice, so that's a feature and a flaw all at the same time for those of us trying to imitate him.

    Once again, you’ve picked one of the most endearing heart wrenchingly beautiful rock n roll songs of all time endeared by 100’s of millions of people around the world. I just love that song and I melt every time I get the chance to enjoy. listening to it and how you play it so well!!! It’s the song we all have a person we think about when we hear it and feel those tears begin to well up. You did such an awesome job teaching us the ins and outs on how to play it. To me Goat’s head Soup was the last truly amazing Stones album that closed out the hay day years from 1967- 1973. With the exception of the songs “It’s only rock n roll but I like it” and “Till The Next Time We say Goodbye” The Stones never sounded like that ever again. Which is sad. I’m mean I still love them and have liked their newer songs. The Rolling Stones are still at the top of my top 5 bands of all time list. Their catalog of music is legendary and I’m so glad I got to orbit around the sun with them for all of these years. Their music has gotten me through some really tough times I didn ‘t think my heart could ever take anymore until I met my soulmate. You know you’ve heard one of the most beautiful songs ever written when the song Angie can affect you like that. That’s what I love about music, it touches your soul and it’s one of the very best things that human beings have ever created. The Anti-war movement was a big part of this era of the Rolling Stones. I was reminded about the anti war movement again during this past Sunday’s 2/19/23 anti war protests at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. The direction of our country has been dragged down a very dark road by the Military Industrial Complex, since the murders of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy. Their murders were no accidents. They were big covered up executions that stopped the actual three leaders from having the chance to make our country into what it could have been. MLK had the most beautiful dream that spoke to the hearts of JFK and RFK and awakened their hearts to that same vision of wanting to change our government to model itself after what the words in our constitution actually really means. All the talk of Nuclear War and the saber rattling RHETORIC spewing out of Washington DC and it’s war mongering steno-graphing Mainstream News Media has awakened a peace movement of people from all walks of life to come together, set aside our petty differences. Then demand an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and start peace talks between the US & RUSSIA, and Ukraine. We can all tell them to Stop this nonsense of propaganda and aggression between the three major nuclear powers in the world!!! Many Americans want the hemorrhage of trillions of dollars of our taxpayers money going out of our treasury to make war against our fellow human beings. We taught our children that violence and murder is no way to resolve our problems it makes more even worse problems. Yet our own government has sown those seeds of violence through out the world since WWII. It must stop now why we still have a world where we can still breath the air, grow food in the soil and have oceans free of plastic and places for all life to flourish. As John F. Kennedy said in his beautiful American University speech in June of 1963, to build a lasting peace, for all the people in the world and their children to live in and flourish without the fear of war. The Ukraine War didn’t have to start. Our leaders refused to set down with Putin and resolve the situation in Ukraine. Our own country is falling apart, and Americans want the lies and propaganda to stop now! We need to take a good hard look at what endless wars since Korea and Vietnam, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Ukraine, has done to our country and the rest of the world. We need to end this hostile Cold War now because we are almost one F-16 fighter Jet and huge Tank away from being sent to Ukraine and escalate this war into WWIII which will further escalate into Worldwide Thermal Nuclear War. This is the foolish direction where our leaders are taking us all. They have mountain bunkers to hide away in and will leave all the rest of us out in the Nuclear Winter to die unimaginable horrific deaths. That will truly will be the hauntingly saddest song to ever be. Please write your elected officials and tell them NO MORE WAR.
    “All we are saying, is give peace a chance!!!”

    When someone breaks done a seemingly simple Stones song like this and you realize how complex it really is it makes you realize why Keith is the master and wizard with a guitar. And on top of that, some his most complex arrangements come to him in his dreams. Wth?

    • @tomflynn2912
      @tomflynn2912 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To me, Mick Taylor was a Wizard in his own right. Just as good or better than Keith.

    • @erichkaanikin3555
      @erichkaanikin3555 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Keith is not only a unique and fantastic guitar player, he is THE songwriter. And single best blues-based rock songwriter in the rock world. (Neil Finn is the very best, although they’re in their own niche, ask Paul M.). /
      The Beatles were mostly the duo of Paul and John, with sprinklings of contributions by Harrison, although his songs were sometimes huge hits, too. Ringo had a great and signature drum style, such that the Beatles can’t be imagined without him. I can recognize a drummer’s influence or the intro of any Beatles song. And it’s not easy to mimic Ringo, he’s subtle, and his signature microsecond delay is extremely difficult to do. But I digress…
      Great lesson.
      Perfect technique and feel.
      Thank you so much!

    I always love stones stuff, and you do an awesome job with it all. And you always do songs that I haven't nailed yet. Thank you. There's something to be said about learning curve and teaching curve (which is a real thing) but w/e I don't know what it is. Keep teaching the stuff you love.

    Wonderful tutorial. I don't know it is the cloudy, rainy day outside or my own mood, but for some reason it just seemed to me that The eagles may have been influenced by this song when they wrote Hotel California. Once again we can see why Keith Richards is such an amazing guitarist. Thank you for the lesson.

    Your Taylor is generating the prefect acoustic sound which is sharp and an absolutely dead on the money match with the music you’re playing along with. Your playing skill and attention to detail allow this magic moment to be shared with your viewing audience. Thank you! As hobbyist I will be working with what you have shared and with a little luck and a lot of persistence I to will be able to share that experience and play if only for a moment with Richard’s and other Rock royalty. Would you mind sharing the model of Taylor guitar you’re playing as well as any amplification details used when play.? Thx .

    Hello from Mexico 🇲🇽 glad to subscribe! You are a good teacher. My wife Angela will be happy to hear me play this great tune. Should “South City Midnight Lady” “Cool Change” “Into the Mystic” make a lesson that would be greatly appreciated. I only know Standard tuning but I like it like “Sittin on the Dock of the Bay” “All along the Watchtower” “Melissa” are people pleasers and when you play an instrument you want people to enjoy. Like I have with your lesson. Thanks
