Well Korbin was right, he was pissed because she was in the room and not doing the household things, and it was embarassing for him that his wife was sitting in front of him like an equal. Rick you are a good man, but the character in the film is not.
My mum was so touched when she saw this film. She was like, I need to send this and show this to all my friends because this is like a snap shot of our lives portrayed exactly. You know what my dad said? He said very uncomfortably that “it’s okay. I think the husband should’ve helped her when she asked for the fan thing. I don’t know.” I can easily see my father as the husband in this story, not that my mother would ever have the courage to do what Shefali did. This is a story of most households. There are small details here that touch all kinds of nerves: 1. The tea not being served in the same crockery as others because if you remember in article 15, some people don’t consider treating the house helps the same as others. And you could see that Shefali didn’t want to make that discrimination, she asked for a cup. But the lady who discriminated gave her a steel glass instead. 2. the little girl who was playing was supposed to feel like it’s a privilege that she gets to play. Same thing evolves into “see I let my daughter/wife work till whenever I think is right.” This same girl was scolded when the boys played outside even though she wasn’t at fault. And it was her job to go serve food to the boys because she’s a girl. I completely agree with you. This is definitely one of the best short films ever made.
At last .... Reaction for Juice... Have been requesting it for ages... Now I can rest in peace 😀 Did you observe the discrimination the pregnant lady did to the servant ... She gave a steel cup instead of the regular cup for tea...
Rajani Sunilkumar yeah, why the different cups. You can just wash the regular cup afterwards. I am totally against the untouchability being still prevalent in our society in latent form. It aches me so much when people do that.
Your reaction made me cry so much! Rick, you’re such a beautiful person. Korbin, you are what real men stand for. I loved this. You guys know how to respect women and humans basically. This is easily My fav reaction video of yours till date. 🥺
Coming out of an all kinds of abusive marriage this resonates with me on a lot of levels in many ways! Thank you Rick & Korbin for reacting on this! I love watching you guys every day before I am done for the day.. calms me up.
A lot of us indian girls get conditioned at such a young age to serve the men in our lives. The part where the little girl had to serve food to her brothers was huge in my opinion. The other day my uncles and dad left all the food they ate for my mom and I to clean up after them. I plan to break the cycle and teach my future kids differently
Just in case..... Do teach your children, but in a great way not just out of revenge type mindset.. That wud also cause the same bad you see today.. No offense btw.
The same thing happens in my in-laws house. Me and my husband live abroad and when we are outside India, my husband does everything. But whenever we go to India to visit my parents in law, my husband becomes totally different . My husband, his brother and my father in law do not clean up after they eat their food. Always it's our ( my mother in law, me and my sister in law) job to clean up the bits and pieces of food that they have left in their plate. What surprises me is the fact that my husband also does the same thing when he's in India. But here in the UK, he behaves completely differently. This never happened in my parents' house. My father and brother always used to do household chores. So, I find it very unsettling.
@@sarkarpiu1 Have you ever called him out on his double standards? Maybe you need to sit him down and have a long chat about his insecurities, what image he wants to project in front of his family of himself and of your marriage and why, and how it harms not just your sentiments and your relationship, but also sets up a really negative example for everyone in your house (especially if you have children). I'm sure if you try talking to him, he'll see your point and perhaps change his ways for the better
Sadly but it reminds me of my mom. She wakes up every day at 4 am wash clothes, cleans house, do her praying and then starts her work (stitching clothes). At 11 she will start cooking food for everyone then after everyone finish eating, she wash kitchen utensils, then sleep for an hour and again start her work till 7. After that she'll again cook food for dinner and at 10 she'll fall a sleep. After watching this video I realised what sacrifices a mother make. I am living here in Australia and after coming here I realised that what a mess our life can be without our mother. Love you mom.
But why she cooks so many times, why dont just cook everything at once, like my mom cooks only once, not many times, she should cook lunch and dinner altogether,no need to make it seperately
When Korbin says "Hit him in the face", its what must come to the minds of millions of woman like ten times a day. And it's sad. So ashamed. One thing I promise, I will never ever ever be a husband like the ones above. Never.
So glad u watched this! ❤️ Do note, the protagonist (Shefali Chhaya) comes across as someone who truly believes in equality from the very beginning. The moment when she asks her pregnant friend to fetch a tea cup for the maid and she picks up a steel cup, instead of the bone China cups they have, Shefali Chhaya's character clearly felt disgusted over this. Every little thing adds up to the Snap at the end... Brilliantly executed!
"I love my wife,l would do anything for her " " I don't ask her to do anything"......Korbin....l bet that no Indian husband has said those lines to their wives in their lifetime

Women of India are the primary reasons India is intact. Its women of India who make sure the families are running smoothly and they get over all challenges. My mother is taking over so many jobs and roles each day. She is as strong as anyone when it comes to protecting our interests and she is as soft as anyone could be. Most importantly my Mom (Maaji , as I call her) like other Indian women made sure we kids the best life values and never lose our path. The path of righteousness.

I hope hope hope... you don't judge all Indian men based on this short film... hope you don't judge arranged marriages based on this short film... I won't deny this reality... this happens in many many homes... but I have seen my own parents who did every chore in the house, who cared about each other, and supported each other... I was raised seeing those ideals... I live in your country now... I had an arranged marriage... and I cannot stress enough how beautiful it was to fall in love with the person going through the arranged process... now both me and my wife work here... both of us are independent, raising a child together and doing all the house chores together... and parties in our typical "Indian Hindu Arranged Marriage" home do not look like this.. I am proud of that! I do hope you do not form your opinions based on cinematic depictions!
In case you didn't recognise who directed this short film... Let me remind you he's the 2nd director of sacred games season 2 along with anurag kashyap 😎
Shefali Shah is the lead in a Netflix Original - Delhi Crime. It is a fantastic show and she is amazing. You guys should watch it. Also, she is in Dil Dhadakne Do (also stars Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh)
happens everywhere and yes in USA also. USA in many ways has more disgusting treatment of women of any world I have ever been too. I have been living in the states for 13 years and yes it is quite evident in their society. Only place where women get equal treatment and respect is in tribal societies. You would think modern developed world be better for treatment but it's quite the opposite. Yes, they have become economically empowered but they don't have actual power. In terms of power dynamics (not economic) in the household, Indian women enjoys more than their western counterpart.
The part where the protagonist's friend offers the maid tea in a steel glass and where she feels offended and leaves without drinking the tea is called 'Caste System' 😒
No that is not. It has nothing to do with caste. As @Rimsi Das already pointed out - it is more of a status thing. I can confirm that a Brahmin cook working in a Brahmin household is also served tea in a separate cup set aside for her. And I'm pretty certain you will see the same treatment of an upper caste helper working for an affluent lower caste household.
Wow guys your first short film thank you for reviewing what I requested!!! I'm so so happy you don't know how I feel. Korbin was super pissed right from the beginning.!!!Rick was super sad and super gripped by the actress and the content! Do check Chutney, Churri as well
Understanding the little awkwardness with the tea. I notice you didn’t quite get it and it’s totally u understandable because once I explain you will be shocked.and disgusted. India has a caste/ class system. This isn’t some archaic , quaint system the only words to describe it is cruel and oppressive. The lady who refused the tea is the household maid. She would typically belong to a lower caste and definitely a lower class than her employers . Most house help are treated differently and separate crockery / cutlery is reserved for them as they are not considered equal enough to drink out of the good China. This is so ingrained in us that most people don’t even think about it let alone consider it discrimination. It’s demeaning with a thousand seemingly insignificant cuts and then we wonder why our society is so divisive and fucked up. The maid refused the tea because she knew that the guest had assumed she wouldn’t drink from a China cup and the employer ( shefali shah) was too embarrassed to speak up for her. Ironic that they don’t see how they are all oppressed but assume a superiority over the Maid. Women are our own greatest enemy in a patriarchal society.
My mother is kind and empathetic woman but even she can't envision a world in which she has to serve tea or food to the help in the same dish as the rest of us. It took quite a while to get her to stop segregating cutlery by class. I started my own protest against it by deliberately serving myself food in the same cutlery that was reserved for the help.
Its a good thing you pointed out but - I will add that it might have had its roots in the caste system but now it is only a class discrimination thing. I have seen Brahmin domestic help get the same treatment in a Brahmin household.
My husband had to live on his own for a while and my mother in law says to me "Mera kaleja Kat ta tha, ki Mera beta khud Khana bana raha hai" ( My heart would bleed when my son had to cook on his own) I said to her, " You should be proud that your son can cook. You have raised him well" 😁
Definitely it was NOT a love marriage for the lead couple...it was an arranged marriage... In my house...my grandmother acts an a**hole to my mother..my dad supports my mother... That’s why I have decided not to get married in the first place looking at my mother’s life because of my grandmother...😒

No one is Independent in this world.. Why do people think housewives are dependent and only working ones are independent? Working womens are also dependent, they are can't go a day without their maid, they need nany/care taker or for their babies, food is made by the cook or ordered from outside. Infact Independent women depends on so many people than housewives. So we must stop underestimating housewives coz she doing thankless job without being paid for

You know what my dad said? He said very uncomfortably that “it’s okay. I think the husband should’ve helped her when she asked for the fan thing. I don’t know.”
I can easily see my father as the husband in this story, not that my mother would ever have the courage to do what Shefali did.
This is a story of most households.
There are small details here that touch all kinds of nerves:
@@deeprahul Agree with you 100% Deep Rahul
That's so true
I m also suggested this long time ago
@@deeprahul I think it's done to distinguish. I also do it. I don't want my cup to be used by anyone else lol.
If you want to know what acting is... Just look into Shefali Shah's eyes. Beautiful actress
Your reaction made me cry so much! Rick, you’re such a beautiful person. Korbin, you are what real men stand for. I loved this. You guys know how to respect women and humans basically. This is easily My fav reaction video of yours till date. 🥺
Dashmin Bakshi 😘😘😘
Her Creative Light ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@sarkarpiu1 Have you ever called him out on his double standards? Maybe you need to sit him down and have a long chat about his insecurities, what image he wants to project in front of his family of himself and of your marriage and why, and how it harms not just your sentiments and your relationship, but also sets up a really negative example for everyone in your house (especially if you have children). I'm sure if you try talking to him, he'll see your point and perhaps change his ways for the better
One of the most recommended short film is " Ahalya" from Royal Stag Barrel ( same producers)
But why she cooks so many times, why dont just cook everything at once, like my mom cooks only once, not many times, she should cook lunch and dinner altogether,no need to make it seperately
why the hell you don't go and cook for her once in a while instead of telling how much you love her?
Sadly still a prevalent issue in India and other South Asian countries. Men>women.
You have seen Shefali Shah in the monsoon wedding trailer
Shefali (the main actress) has a theatre background and was a mainstay in television when series still had thought-provoking content.
The part where, "I just want them to die." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Her name is shefali shah not chaya
"I love my wife,l would do anything for her "
" I don't ask her to do anything"......Korbin....l bet that no Indian husband has said those lines to their wives in their lifetime
Shadi se pehle sab yahi kehte hain bhai. lol.
Yes, and particularly in front of male friends most men wouldn't say anything close to it as they are worried about how "masculine" they sound.
So glad you saw this gem..Shefali Shah is a brilliant highly underrated actor.
Great great reaction guys... this story is very typical portrayal of Indian household..the husband was embarrassed first because she entered the room & “interrupted” the man zone... later when she stares him down, he realises his mistake & you see the embarrassment in his eyes... fantastic acting by both 💖💖 ....pls react to Chhuri, Chatni, Ahalya next... beautiful short films 😘 love you guys
Thank you so much for reacting to this masterpiece. It was due. 🧡Shefali shah nailed the performance.
Rick, You'll be with me always, you will always be a part of man I want to be.
Abhishek Anand 😘😘😘😘
Chandler bing make jokes when he's uncomfortable, Korbin laughs when he's uncomfortable 😜😊
Filmfare Awards 2018
Best Short Film (Fiction) - Juice (Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan)
Best Actor (Female) - Shefali Shah
(She was really amazing in Dil Dhadakne Do directed by Zoya Akhtar )
Nicely said
Sounds beautiful whatever you said. May God keep you happy and well.
Rick is a sweetheart!! I wanna adopt him 😭
In case you didn't recognise who directed this short film...
Welcome to indian society...this is what happens to the women here.
Not only in India , it's everywhere! D'ont trust in the words of these men, they are only complimented in front of the camera
Whole goddamnn world
This happens in every nook & corner of the world
happens everywhere and yes in USA also.
Good catch!
I guess it is not always Caste system. "status symbolism" is a much suitable term.
@Ajay Kay exactly my point. It is class or status discrimination and not caste.
@@aninditabanerjee2420 it's still untouchability just in another form.
Wow guys your first short film thank you for reviewing what I requested!!! I'm so so happy you don't know how I feel.
Korbin was super pissed right from the beginning.!!!Rick was super sad and super gripped by the actress and the content!
Do check
Chutney, Churri as well
Understanding the little awkwardness with the tea.
Thank you for pointing this out.. I was just about to write about that and I saw your message here. Very well written. Thank you
Its a good thing you pointed out but - I will add that it might have had its roots in the caste system but now it is only a class discrimination thing. I have seen Brahmin domestic help get the same treatment in a Brahmin household.
@@aninditabanerjee2420 exactly it is a class distinction now.
where the fuck are you guys living? is everyone uneducated there?
This short film is exactly the reason I dread getting married.........
My husband had to live on his own for a while and my mother in law says to me "Mera kaleja Kat ta tha, ki Mera beta khud Khana bana raha hai" ( My heart would bleed when my son had to cook on his own)
I said to her, " You should be proud that your son can cook. You have raised him well" 😁
Mother in laws 😂
Rick had tears in his eyes .now that's a real man
Plz react To Satyajit Ray's epic short film 'Two'
Its available on Oscars's youtube channel
second that
And Sadgati? They won't be able to take it.
This was a brilliant reaction..Right on the money..Never expected this...Thank you.
Definitely it was NOT a love marriage for the lead couple...it was an arranged marriage...
In my house...my grandmother acts an a**hole to my mother..my dad supports my mother...
That’s why I have decided not to get married in the first place looking at my mother’s life because of my grandmother...😒
I can understand. Mother in laws. U can only be a mother to ur own child, most of them prove it.
You guys bring so much heart into every video. That’s way I keep coming back for more :’)
The director is the one who directed phenomenal "Masaan"
I absolutely love Rick. Such a great comprehension of stuff just from the nuances on display, that too from a totally different culture altogether. Love your channel, you guys rock!❤
Meet Komal 😘😘😘
Fact :people gonna enjoy and appreciate this short film but never gonna complies this in real life!!!!
BTW great reaction guys❤
I guess things are changing now, u know right, it's just not men but also women needs to change. And most importantly parents needs to change.
Things such as these are really changing in our country is a very fast pace..hope for the best
You talked about Juice in your lunchbox review yesterday and for a good few hours I was confused because I reached for the depths of my memory and still couldn't remember when you uploaded your reaction haha
Haha.. Same with me.. I was wondering if I missed the reaction!
I thought it went on Patreon.
None of my life problems make me cry, but when Rick does, my eyes can't stop tears!
Please react to short films " Chhuri", "Ahalya", " Chutney", and " Nayantara's Necklace"
Agree with Korbin . The Husband looked at her with a form of anger for sure. I don’t think he thought “what have I done to the love of my life” as Rick thought. Lol
If you loved this.. watch Masaan from the same director starring Viky Kaushal and Richa Chadda.. You'll fall in love with Neeraj if you haven't already...
You guys give so much insight of the videos you watch..its so educative and refreshing as a viewer!
No wonder I click on your videos almost immediately after I log into youtube! Much love 💕🙏🏻
I love this reaction ❤️❤️❤️ it made my heart melt 💔😓 thank you so much guys 🙏🏻
This short film touches so many social issues from classism , sexism , hypocrisy , traditional stereotypes to standing up for one’s rights. So glad this film was made and oscars won’t choose this kinda films because ofcourse there’s nothing in it to potray how poverty striken India is. Ladies need to take a note to stand up for their rights your daughters are watching you and Men need to note that your sons are watching you and eventually just be you in future so please teach them to be better humans.Thank you for reacting to this , you guys are awesome ❤️🙏🏽
15:30 I wish it was possible to hug Rick through the screen!! 😭
Yesss!!
Rick, thisis the story of every Indian married women. Of course the men don't change that all. He was angry and shock and they don't change
The actress “Shefali Shah” - Guys you will LOVE her in the Netflix series - DELHI CRIME! Absolutely fantastic series!
I really loved it a lot. Very good selection for reaction guys
5he movies you mentioned MASAAAN AND UGLY are a must watch
Thanks for reacting to this! I didn't realize you guys haven't seen Delhi Crime. That actress Shefali Shah, isone of the best actresses from India. She is also the standout in Monsoon Wedding, a film that has Naseeruddin Shah so you can just imagine her talent! Also plays Ranveer's mom in Dil Dhadakne Do.
Didn't they unblock the AIB vid!? .... give us that already
So very well analized. Respect!
Ahhaha I love Korbin “I hope she kills them all”😂
I have seen it 3 4 times before ..n every time a tear drops of my eyes.. Very strong acting.
at 08:08 korbin asked why she is is leaving?? that's because she is a maid and the other lady pulled out a broken glass for the maid 07:51! (discrimination)
Thank you guys ... You guys make us happy about things that we generally woudnt care to be happy about... I like the fact that you appreciate real things
Please react to "Chutney"

"Masculinity of a man is so blown out of proportion at the expense of the beauty of a woman". ~ Rick
That was so deep and wonderfully put!!!!
You guys are amazing! The thoughts and feedback that you share are just so true. Keep it real! :)
The main actress here.. Shefali Shah started as a tv actor in the 90's. Her acting has always been the best part about her. She also has meatier roles in films ! Awesome review as always! 😍😍
M feeling so happy. You guys have found the 'good section' of the indian short films.
Korbin is right. He's giving her the stare. He might also be physically abusive. And she knows that he might resort to a big fight after but she still needs air! And juice.
The steel glass thing @7:51 is the tea served to the maid is in that glass while rest of them drink in the cups.
The School Bag short film reaction please 🙏🏼
Love you guys
The way you actually spoke about the emotion in the movie is just so touching
No one is Independent in this world.. Why do people think housewives are dependent and only working ones are independent? Working womens are also dependent, they are can't go a day without their maid, they need nany/care taker or for their babies, food is made by the cook or ordered from outside. Infact Independent women depends on so many people than housewives. So we must stop underestimating housewives coz she doing thankless job without being paid for
That domestic helper lady left because every other lady were served their chai in ceramic cup but she was intentionally being served in a cheap steel cup. This moment shows every single body has an unknown oppresser deep inside.
Hey! We would love to see the reaction on ‘jauhar’ scene from padmaavat
YESSSSSSSSS
Thank you rick and korbin for finally reacting to this gem, shefali shah is and always one of my favourite actress from india after watching this short film
