This show will always have a special place in my heart, despite the hate it gets. I honestly enjoyed the theme of it, and I feel it really put into perspective the brutality of the war.
God I love Ed Bosco as Magnus. You can feel his desperate need to end the war and see his brothers united again. He only wants to see things return to normal. Rip Magnus, til all are one.
This show got a lot of flack for many reasons, but I think this is one of the best show's I've seen for my own tastes. The story of the transformers is quintessential "us vs them" fight, and of course it's there to sell toys for kids to pretend fight with, but this show took that idea, the human mentality of us vs them, and did some wonderfully poignant things with it. Ultra Magnus talking about "we must focus on surviving as a race, not winning a war" is something every person on the planet should hear. Right now, in real life, we're facing a global pandemic, more and more wealth inequality, insane corporatization, and a rapidly approaching global climate disaster that we wont be able to fix if we dont act as a species, right now. And yet, we have people arguing on twitter and face book, any where, about utter nonsense, all day, everyday. We're too focused on finding differences between each other that we ignore these issues that effect the whole world, us as a species and every other creature on this planet. I know it's easy to indulge in hating other people for their beliefs or actions, but it's pointless when we have such critical problems to deal with that dont involve any one group of people. Even if we cant fix things, even if it's going to get worse from here, at lease appreciate the people on this planet while we have the privilege to argue about nonsense. That's what I love about this show. (spoiler) It rejects the "us vs them fight" and the Autobots and Deceptions work together to thwart a faceless threat, and end the war. Sure, this franchise is about selling bits of plastic to people, but the art it inspires is genuinely worth appreciating, now more than ever imo.
