is exactly what I had thought about the video and his deceased wife, makes him know that other girl and fall in love again.
oh, i didn't catch the death part. i was thinking of a partner that becomes "invisible" over time, because she has a different pace. But if spiritual love prevailes over biological/romantic love, she took courage and let him go to be happier with someone else. You can see the pain in her eyes in the end.. anticipating the future years of longing for him. At least this is what happened in my case, and i'm crying at this ending scene, as it perfectly "spells out" this feeling.

I remember watching this on mtv when it first came out. I still think the director and screenwriter was fantastic at telling a story with only the music as a guide. Just beautiful. Great song too ;-)

I have known this song since it came out and had it in my mind until today. I have seen that official video for the 1st time just now and I did not know that it`s this touchingly beautiful. If you are wondering how to interpret the video watch his wife (Her ring shows if you pay attention) move him along during the day. He lacks motivation so she keeps him going. He's sort of half the man he should be and you can tell from his lack of expression that he's not a happy person. He notices a woman noticing him on the bus but looks away because his wife is with him. Pay close attention to the his wife, her facial expressions and her actions. They stare fondly at a picture of themselves together and then he gazes at the woman from the bus while his wife looks down as if she's sad he's looking elsewhere. He's making copies of some document in the hallway and is totally oblivious that the woman from the bus is walking in his direction. His wife notices her immediately though and you can see a spark in her eyes as her gaze shifts to him. Notice what she does then and the entire video really becomes quite clear.

I believe , his wife is dead. He is mourning, he is depressed! he is locked into his feelings and cannot move on because of all the best of his life has gone. She is there comforting him and wanting him to move on and find love, be happy again
