    I actually emailed Karen Traviss after reading the last of her novels and finding out there would be no more. Just to let her know I appreciated her works and enjoyed her story telling. She said the official canon shifted and she wasn't informed until after she finished the 501st novel. Wish she could have continued with the story of the nulls, she wrote great stories.

    The Jedi can't see the moral repulsiveness of the Clone army because to them, the conditions of the clones are normal. The Jedi are kidnapped as children and indoctrinated into a militaristic order in which they have no personal property or family and are expected to serve the republic until they die. In the words of one fish to another, "what the heck is water?"

      Honestly, I fully understand what they did my only issue was the military tactics they were charging machine gun fire with bayonets essentially. But the republic was way to pacifistic in culture to make a military of nonclones a draft would've simply caused worlds to retaliate as they would think it to authoritative. The CIS would have doomed the galaxy to domination by forces like the Techno Union and Trade Federation. I believe the ends justify the means. If you have to do something morally questionable in order to do the right thing then do it. But if the Jedi had been competent military leaders they could have utilized the clone army in numerous ways to win the war and possibly oust Palpatine. After all, if you know halo its the same thing with Spartan 2s and that's commonly agreed to be justified. The fact is the Jedi lost and therefore they're the bad guys that's what Palpatine wanted to force them into a position in which it was easy to justify order 66 and by keeping the war so far from republic citizens in this pacifistic culture he left them with no other choice but to utilize the clone army. A smart play that worked right into his hands.

      @@theempiredidnothingwrong3227 I get what you mean about the similarities of the Spartan IIs and the clones but something seems more sad about the clones than the Spartans. Maybe its because the clones are classified as equipment and not even human or the fact that they are not rendered the same respect by their superiors as the Spartan IIs.
      I'm really not entirely sure what it is but I feel while their origins and reason for existence are similar, there is still a distinct difference between born to fight and focusing one who originally had no real goal into one that would benefit the whole.
      I dunno if what I'm saying makes much sense.

      @CptPhilippnes 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@theempiredidnothingwrong3227 yeah but the main problem is that the Republic sees them as equipment meaning that the clones are denied aid that is readily accessible to the citizens. When a clone commando sustained a head injury that could have easily been treated at any Republic hospital, he was denied that because
      1. He was a clone
      2. Just a piece of equipment and not a person
      3. Cheaper to pull the plug and replace him than bother to treat him.

      hey i have an important question, please i hope you read this and answer... so, we have clone units like the 501... so... if we have a clone unit or legion or division or whatever you wanna call it that is the 501... i must belive that there are at least another 500 of them right?
      the question is... if i am not mistaken (tell me if i am) every jedi had like 10.000 clones under their comand right? so... if we had 500 clone divisions... that would mean a total of 5.000.000 clones... but in the start we know there were only a total of 200.000 and later they addedd 1.000.000, i kknow that by the end of the clone wars 10.000.000 clones were made... but still, since many of of died along the day, i find very unlikely to belive that there could be 501 units! so, can you explain to us how that works allen? please! (realy, please read this!)
      also i would like to see a top 10 of "normal" clone units, i mean, we hear that the 212 is the best, than we heat that the 21 nova corps are the best, than that the 501 is the best... everytime i keep hearing that one or another is the best clone unit... sooo, i would like for you to give us a top 10 off the best units (not counting the special troops)

      joão soares I don’t meant to be another ass but you should have made a comment not a reply.
      But it is a good question but the thing is it’s not 200,000 soldiers, they used the word units. We don’t know the amount of clones per unit or if it’s just one clone = a unit. So a unit could be around 5 clones making the numbers much more believable. As for the other 500 legions I have no clue about that.

    It's a shame Karen Traviss never truly finished off the story of the Republic/Imperial Commandos and clan Skirata. Yes I know she put out a synopsis for how she would have liked to have ended the story, but I would have preferred to read a full novel. Her writing and stories are what really got me back into Star Wars and completely into the Mando way of life and gave a deeper understanding to the clones and what they went through. She really pushed the fact that even though they were clones, each one was an individual. It's a shame that she and Filoni and Lucas couldn't all see eye to eye on a unified vision of how the Mandalorians should be portrayed in The Clone Wars. I will say that Filoni seemed to do a better job of introducing more Mandalorian culture into Rebels, but the damage was already done and Karen jumped ship years before.
    Now maybe it's just me, but if you look at the pic from the set of the new live action show The Mandalorian, you'll see the Madalorian's armour is pieced together from different parts of Mandalorian armour.... much in the same way Venku Skirata's armour was pieced together from armour from all of his clan members. I'm wondering if "The Madalorian"'s character is going to be loosely based off of Venku Skirata??

She will shit on major characters. Have others ramble on via internal thoughts. Any new characters she brings to the table, she doesn't do much to develop them. Her writing style doesn't transition well with previous novels, meaning she won't adopt elements from the previous novel before transitioning to hers so continuity feels turbulent. It's a trend among her books. They read like fanfiction. From what I've read trying to confirm my thoughts on her with Halo, Gears fans have this story about the devs collating a whole bunch of story and lore notes for her to work off, but she never even took look.

    @Generation Tech. If you do a video on Imperial Special Forces, I would like to point out, they have few units that are made up of Force Users.
    The Dark Trooper program made many Cyborgs and Droids, but the intended final product was to be a Human Bioriod Forceuser using a Power Armor that is also a Droid.

Clones were bred to serve in a war for a Republic that granted them literally less rights than animals, and if one of them decided they had enough of fighting and tried to live their own life the Republic sent special death squads after them.

      The Jedi could have refused military command. In fact, they should not have even been involved as much with the Republic politicians affairs as they were during the clone wars (many Jedi criticized the Jedi council for that practice, claiming they had lost their way and were becoming hungry for power).

    First, great channel with great content. Thanks...
    The second is something I felt I should share about this topic... The author has stated many times he had moral issue with the "slave" perspective of the clones situation, to that, I respond with this...
    I don't believe the clone army ever thought of themselves as slaves to the Republic. There were a few who came to that conclusion but for the most part, in my opinion the clones viewed themselves as the champions of the Republic. Rex's speech with Cutler the desserter is very telling. I believe that and several other clone interactions throughout the clone wars prove that almost all clones valued themselves, their bothers and their duty to the people they represented. They knew they could do the job better... That they were better...
    Would you be honoured to protect and serve if they had given you life and a noble cause? Doesn't sound like slavery.

      @@violentscorl697 I loved a lot of aspects of it. From the more or less lack of gender to so much of it revolving around the concept of the "hunt" (Oya) even Oya itself being so fluid as to be able to describe a desire to live.
      "No one cares about the father you have, only the father you'll be" is an expression I hold close to my heart and not the only mando expression I've chosen to live by.

      KMCA779 Man, you put it into words perfectly!
      I believe it might really be possible to learn to speak the tongue, and I’d like it if we would have such a language in our world. It’s genderless, has no future or past forms and consists mostly of ellipsis and abbreviations. Perfect for our modern society.
      I’m happy I’m not the only one adhering to the great Mando proverbs. It doesn’t matter that it’s a fictional culture- the message applies to out world too!
      In that sense..
      OYA!

    Always loved the Phase 1 ARC Trooper design. The interesting conundrum though was what would have happened if the Jedi had not taken up General post's of the Clone Army? I got a feeling Palpatine did plan for that as well. I bet the ARC's could also double as Generals if needed or at least the Clone Commanders we see with the Yellow Stripes could do the job.

    @GenerationTech I have recently been rewatching the clone wars tv series. I was wondering how in season one senator Amadala is sent into a separatist trap twice by chancelor Palpatine. How does this not raise any questions about Palpatines intentions. Episode 4 is a blatant example of this as well as episode 8 she is sent into a trap. How come no one investigates this? Sorry about the spelling and I am really curious so hopefully you can help!

    • @Murdermonday
      @Murdermonday 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      He did it to push Anakin to the dark side by making him fear the loss of that he loves. No one investigating into boils down to Anakin. He as a general should've have put it together, however, Palpatine was in his head so deep he either blocked it out or never even saw it as a possibility because of Palps brainwashing. If Anakin hadn't been brainwashed into thinking Palps was a father figure and looking over him, he would've put it together. Most of the council knew something was off, Anakin was the only one that trusted him and vice verse.

    • @kylewesbrook4916
      @kylewesbrook4916 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scare The Locals ! Yes this could be true for Anakin, but even looking further no one else cares that a senator was sent into a battlefield by a supreme chancellor I mean she survived why didn't she question him or bring it up to the senate.

    Generation Tech I’ve been thinking about the Death Star and something’s really bothering me. Are the levels and compartments of the station organised in layers around the center (like a normal planet) or levels organised across the station horizontally (like a building). The reason it doesn’t really make sense which is which is because when the Millenium Falcon is drawn into the Death Star via tractor beam it shows the ship moving into a hangar that’s built into the side of the station, so horizontal levels. But then later on the turrets are shown jotting out vertically from the surface as well as the Emperor’s throne room jotting out as if the levels of the Death Star were arranged layered around the centre. Plz help because it’s making me really confused.

    from what i remember the beginning of the cloning, was that Dooku placed a bounty on a jedi and many numerous bounty hunters tried to kill this jedi, but Jango Fett eliminated all other bounty hunters and took out the jedi in single, hand to hand combat. Dukoo was spying the entire time and called him to a secluded location on a lower level Courasaunt, gave him the credits and thus giving the cloning opportunity we all know now. I am missing some minor details and i apologize.

    I'm curious as to how the ARC troopers really progressed. You had the 6 Nulls, the 100 Alphas who we saw in the original 2002 clone wars, and they trained guys like Rex. So then I guess Rex is the 3rd wave of ARCs and then guys like Fives, Echo, and Jesse are the 4th wave being trained under Rex? (And yes, Jesse is an ARC trooper in the bad batch arc, I never noticed till i rewatched it yesterday)

    Well part of the brilliance of Sidious’s plan was that he kept the clone army hidden until the last possible moment. The Jedi and Senate didn’t have much time to think or debate the usage of clone troopers. Refusing to use the clone army would have meant they would have been overrun with battle droids. And you did have something some Jedi like Kota that didn’t lead clones into battle.
