Decorate and refresh our Victorian home for Spring with one the Pantone 2024 colors of the year, Persimmon from Sherwin Williams HGTV collection. It adds a fun and bold splash of color in our front entryway.
I share my favorite way to create a professional looking floral arrangement at home on a budget by using a vintage flower frog.

Love your outfit. I love the way you decorated your home. Can you tell me which two colors were painted on your armoire and brand.?😊
Nooo just paint the wall and the ceiling. I painted my kitchen a real warm peachy cocoa brown/tanish color and I loved it, I moved but have never been able to find that color again. Live with it for a while, one good thing with paint, you can always paint over it.❤I like it alot
I really like the new color. It’s sassy and unexpected. It really works well with the wood tones on the stairs and your hutch.
Selena. That colour is perfect! Remember the Victorians overdid everything!! It’s a happy, warm cosy welcoming colour - keep going with it. Also. I could open a ‘Homes and Gardens’ magazine and see your hall like this!! Stick with your instincts! Playing it safe is so boring 🥰🥰🎉🎉
Selena, if you paint your a/c return grate the same color as your wall, it will disappear visually.
Love the color you chose, it looks lovely ❤
I completely agree, and was thinking the same; now that the walls aren't white the grate is VERY noticeable/distracting- NOT in a good way! Paint it!🖌🖌🖌
I think that small pop of color really elevates your entry. I say leave it until you find something you absolutely love. The warm color complements the vanilla trim and wood on the stair treads really well.
There's nothing I love more than an old home with french vanilla walls and hardwood floors. Very soft, pale pastel paint in the bedrooms is as daring as I get. So, I admit to
being shocked when you opened the can and actually said "no, no, no' out loud. But seeing it on the wall ... I really like it and it goes so nicely with everything else. It's a nice
pop of colour for your foyer and you don't have to paint the entire area. Give it a month or so before making a final decision and I'm dying to know what Pete thinks.
I agree with not painting the whole area that color. It is nice surprise color ... like "Oh, that's fun!" Give it some time. Live with through the spring. You're right, the plant looks great there.
I would leave the sides and bottom of the stairs the original color. The wood side is part of the trim and the bottom of the stairs is part of the ceiling. Leaving the trim and ceiling the original white color will make it more cohesive. I like the color.
I really think it suits the period of the house. Nice shade with the wood dresser by the stairs. I like the calming factor.❤
I like the new colour, just give yourself a little time to adjust. Tell your Mum not to worry, when we sold our home of 33 years and built a new house, it took about 2 years for me to feel like it was “home”. Even though I had al my things with me, it took time to get the placement of everything as I wanted it. Love watching you and Pete at the beach house too!
I would suggest leaving the stairs alone. My previous home had a very similar color paint...it's so warm and lush.
I think you made a good decisions on the paint. I love it! I think it warms up the area and really compliments the furniture you have in there
I think you should only keep a color if it makes you feel happy. You are an intuitive decorator, and you know when it's right. You have STYLE!😊
I love the color of the front hall paint. I personally would have kept the white border underneath the risers going up the stairs to give more definition almost like a painting with a frame.
Yes.......I was screaming KEEP THE WHITE ON THE RISER...... But, she didn't...lol. Salmon is the color that comes to mind. I love the color in the dining room that is somewhat of a lighter version of this. Overall, it's a nice color but might not be for the long term. The beauty of paint is you can change it when you get tired of it.......... For now though, it's pretty and different.
I was surprised at how much I liked it. I do understand all your concerns. It's a shame you couldn't just wiggle your nose and try different colors. I would keep it for awhile and then you can always change it.
I like the colour!
So pretty
I like the color. It's always a shock to the system when you change something. Give yourself time to get used to it. However, painting the sides of the stair riser looks very odd to me. It is a trim piece and should be the same as the rest of the trim. I think you will like the wall color better if you re-paint the trim.
Not sure I’m crazy about the color with your Victorian decor. But I bet it would be pretty at your beach cottage!
Really like your decision to paint the stair border. Doing this extends the size of the wall and creates a cohesiveness in the smaller area - not chopped up and too busy. Love color in living a home!
The nice thing about the paint is you can live with it and if you decide you don’t like it, you can change it…maybe a shade or two lighter. Easy fix though! 😊
Selena trust your intuition it’s guiding you.Being indecisive is enough to change otherwise you will never be happy.
really like how it warms up your entrance. it also pushes the steps back to the background and you can actually focus on the space.
Oh, Selena, it's beautiful, especially from this angle!
I love the color because it warms it up and looks great with the furniture. Love you and your channel and love Pete and your parents, too. You are like a breath of sunshine and fresh air.
It blends nice with that piece of furniture.
the foyer is a special "jewel" and victorians loved color. a pastel would not have the same impact. I do love it. glad you painted up to the stairs. added some height needed behind the table. very welcoming entrance!!!your living room draws you "in" already!
I absolutely love it! It’s a very warm inviting entry way.. you always do a fantastic job in decorating..
I really like that color. It adds depth to the room. Instead of being one big white space. But you have to be the one that's happy with it. ❤
Oh my gosh! “Florida hotel vibes” had me laughing, but it’s the best compliment ever. The new entrance is GORGEOUS!
Leave the stairs sides white will
Bring out the color of what you
Picked for entry
Way. It's gonna be
Spectacular!😊
You know I wish you would not have painted the stairs .. Architecturally it’s off. The wall color is pretty but the placement needs tweaking. The color is a suggestion and paint only the obvious places. Less is more. The color is lovely. I was yelling at the tv for you to stop hahahaha it’s just paint .
Salena it is very warm. It is not over powering. It’s just a SPLASH. I like a bit of Color POP.❤ Your staircase, and height of ceiling of the entire space , accommodates the Color splash.❤❤❤
I like it! I like change… it’s a pretty color for sure. If you don’t like it you can always change it!
I love the color for your space. It will be beautiful for spring, summer and fall. You can always paint over it, but I think it's very nice 💐
I didn’t think I was going to like it. But, I like it! Looks beautiful.
I LOVE the new color, Selena!! It is absolutely exquisite dressing your Victorian home's entry!
Our daughter lived in an 1800's Victorian house that was her first home purchase. Hubs, she and I renovated and remodeled that house from top to bottom, not leaving a single space untouched.
The exterior of her house was painted in the colors now in your entry hall, plus one darker shade that matched a terracotta pot!! It was stunning to see how it drew people in! Her front garden was small with a variety of plant colors mixed with the cool green grass, all surrounded by vintage wrought iron fencing. When the neighborhood was being renovated by a contractor, folks walked the streets and would always ooohh and ahhhhh (literally), while stopping in front of her house; I could hear conversations through open windows, when people's voices would waft inside. Without exception folks would remark that her house was just so beautiful, while they stopped to stare at the facade!
Flip side, against our advice, our daughter bought all the paint she needed for the entire project, without buying a sample to test the color!! She cried when the first wall was painted, sorely upset that her house was pink!!! Once it was all said and done, she was pleased with the final result and appreciated the changing hues as the sun would rise and set, moving from persimmon to a more rosy hue and back to the original hue all in a day's time!
Once when I was there, the contractor, working the entire neighborhood renovation, came by, struck up a conversation asking who picked the paint colors. I confessed I had, to which he responded by nodding his head and smiling at the house and grounds acknowledging its beauty.
For our daughter the color palette was simply too warm, as she would have been far more comfortable with green and ivory on the exterior. She went a different route in large part, because so many homes were wearing that color already.
At Christmas time her place became known as the pretty gingerbread house, as she decorated exquisitely and always hosted a big party!!!💖
Bottom line, you'll know if you can live with the color given some time with it!💖
Looking forward to hearing Pete's take on it!! Beautiful work by one and only you!!!
🌹❤🌹(apologies for the book length comment🤗)
I love the Persimmon color, and the paint coverage. It is starkly different than it was, but looks gorgeous in that space! I hope you love it, after getting past the shock!
The great thing about paint is that it is a quick and relatively inexpensive way to change a room. You can pause and wait a few days to see how things go, and if you get tired of it or don't like it, it's also quick and easy to change. Personally, I think this color would be beautiful in a living room or bedroom because the color reflection will make skin glow in a very flattering way with light. It will have a similar effect to candlelight. I think it was Elizabeth Taylor who had all of her ceilings painted in a similar color because it made people look so good.❤
Love it! Looks great accessorized like most colors. It's pretty! Good job. Love watching your channel and with Pete involved it's a fun touch. You mix it up well! Stay creative!
I like it now that you added the green plant. Looks elegant.👍
I love it, here in England Victorian house always had colour, great video 🇬🇧❤️
I like the cotton color. The lighter color makes your pretty thing pop😊
I love it! The color is very chic and not so girly girl. Photographs beautifully and shows off your beautiful staircase and antique furniture. You’re upping your game girl and it shows with your fashion videos and your decor. I’m taking notes!
Selena, we are both creatures of change/upgrades 😆. Every change of Season I move artwork and home decor around. I donate/sell the pieces I am done with and thrift items that yell my name 😁. Of course I dig for the best prices, that goes without saying.
Live with the terracotta for awhile and the walls will start talking to you. Often, I will change my home decor/table top items to experiment new colors, creating new vignettes is always Fun to me. Merchandising is always a creative process that takes time time.
Take the time you need, do what makes your creative heart skip a beat ❤️💐💃❤️💐💃
I love tera Cotta...the orange tones go well wirh blues. I like the color.
Wow!! I think it's beautiful!! Great choice. Good contrast with stairs.
Looks good with hardwood flooring
Gorgeous Victorian color that wraps the foyer in a big vibrant hug. It has personality & is totally welcoming.
I love it. I think it warms the space up. It’s just a shock to you, like you said😊
PS....chill girl...the color is great for a Victorian house!Your instincts are spot on!❤
I really liked the color for the entry way. I too thought it gives the Florida vibe . The plant just made it come together !!
My two cents worth is the entry looks great. Give it a week or so and you'll be wondering what it looked like before.
I can relate to your parents not wanting to show their new place yet. Such a big change to find your new style, if that's what she wants, or find her old style in a different way.
Hello from Queensland
I love your Chico's shirt. Such a lovely color and the style is so versatile. Dress it up or dress it down 😊.
I also like your paint color. Its hard to know exactly how it looks but on my screen it looks terrific. Almost my entire house is painted in a similar color and I just love it. It makes me so happy. I hope you enjoy it.
I LOVE the paint you chose for the entry!!!!
I absolutely love it. It’s so fresh and beautiful! You have to do what your heart tells you, (and Pete), of course. I’d say leave it for a couple of weeks and then see how you feel. 🤗🇨🇦🤗
Even though I like that color ,when you first opened the can I was like 😳 but when you showed it the next day I really like it. It definitely compliments the wood and plants. Thanks for sharing and making me smile ❤
I have a paint color called sea salt in our kitchen. I believe it is considered a chameleon color... sometimes it does have a hint of gray but thankfully, for my preference , it is mostly a beautiful blue. So depending on how the light hits your walls in your bedroom you may want to keep that in mind I'm not a huge fan of gray myself . It's way over done imo. I appreciate that you do you. That's what I love about decorating there are no rules. I really like that persimmon color reminds me of a beautiful sunset and perhaps a bit like 1940's Beverly Hills Hotel. Thank you for your upbeat and informative content. 🥰
I am all about color in a home, preferably warm tones. So I like that this is a warmer tone then most of the other colors in the house.
Your house is your castle, do what ever makes you smile 🙂, after all it's just paint! I love it!
I like it. And it’s easy enough to change colors if you really never settle with it. I like the warmth it brings to the space.
Love the color. I think it gives a designer look to the hall., but the most thing is what you feel about it.
I think you should keep the color, I really like it and the decor with it looks good 😊
I LOVE it!! 💕💕💕💕 It Compliments your Runner and Furniture perfectly!! It adds such Warmth like a Hug!! 🤗. I love Pink, so this just adds such a Warm feeling for me! Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will look AMAZING!! 😘 YOU always do such a FANTASTIC job!! 🙂☺️🙂😘
Serena, watch your video and look at that wonderful color coming from the stair runner. What would a nice soft olive to accentuate the rug pull the look together? It would always complement your other room. I think the dark woods in the stairs and rail don't look good next to peach. I have an old victorian with wood trim and I have always liked opposites of orange on the color wheel. So glad your are having fun!
I love the colour. It's very warm & inviting - just like your lovely personality. ❤
That's one of my fav colours . I have always had my dining room and kitchen that colour. It's so pretty with silver hardware and white. My doors, trim and cuboards are white. It just makes me happy.
Hi hi Selina,I agree it’s a shock .i don’t like it very much ,but at the end of the day it’s your home sending lv Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
Victorians loved color and that color absolutely suits your home. I love the color in the entryway and it definitely warms up the space and matches well with the floor, stairs and antelope runner. You made a great choice.
Think about Home Worthy! People put so much color in their homes, and it looks amazing! I love the color you have chosen. I think it compliments your space and gives it some interest. It looks great!
You know that feeling you get when looking for a home and you walk into one and "know" it's the right one ? It's the same way with paint. If it doesn't feel right when you put it on the wall, then it isn't the right color.
I like the color a lot. I think you should paint it on the staircase walls as well. It really gives your entrance a warm welcoming feeling. I especially love that tall plant on the table. Very charming effect.
I love the change of color in your entryway, it’s warm and inviting. I’m all about color, but you have to do what you love! ❤️
The color is pretty. My entry is a dark paint color and people say how warm and comfortable my house feels. It is a beautiful color and compliments the dining room color and living room too! You are such a loving daughter to help your parents setup their new home🥰 I hope your Mom feels more and more like it's her home as she decorates with her own style!
I am a Grammy loving the traditional look. Maybe if I lived with the new paint color I would change my mind. Paint and wallpaper is a wonderful way to update your home.
❤
ooooh maybe wall paper the peach area?
I love the color, it really brings interest to the entryway. The contrast with the runner and wood is just beautiful!!
Selena, the paint is absolutely beautiful! Timeless and classic choice for the period of your home. I live in an historic town and have seen that color utilized quite often in older homes. Love the color!
Interestingly, I would not have painted the wood by the stairway...the other is very nice❤
I agree. I would have preferred leaving the sides of the stairs the same vanilla color as the rest of the trim. Persimmon is a strong color, and might not have been my choice for a foyer, but the rest of your home is so lovely, so just trust your instincts.
It looks amazing. I love it.
I like the color and it does go with the stairs and the furniture. Live with it a while. Blessings.
I think that color is so lovely and really adds something to your entry.
Whether you like the color or not - from the stair angle all of the colors do complement one another. It really makes the brown tones in your table, stairs and runner pop. Not sure how it looks from the other angle, but I think it’s really pretty for spring and summer. It’s such a small pop of color that it’s definitely a safe area to play with color.
Oh, Selena! You are so delightful. I do love your videos. 🙂
I luv it. Leave it for a while and then if it bothers you then it's easy paint again another color. Easy peasy.
Selena it’s absolutely beautiful and warm and welcoming just love it you nailed it again
The persimmon paint color is perfect in a heritage house I Iove it
Good choice, looks lovely and when there's freezing temps outside it will look warmer than white and be welcoming.
I love the color! Keep working with it and see how you feel. I think it’s warm and cozy and welcoming.
I like it but I wouldn’t have painted the stair stringer board. I had an old house with that color on the walls and I loved it!
I really love the color !!!!!! That color makes me smile. I feel you put the color where color was Needed😊please keep the color❤
I think you shouldn't have painted the stair sides or the slanted ceiling. If you'd have left them white I don't think you'd be doubting yourself. For the contrast and excitement you are seeking, you need this intensiy of color. I think your style is "vintage with a Victorian emphasis" so this color works just fine. PS I think you should stay with moody and muted colors in the beach house so that you don't overwhelm the stunning views!
Didn’t know if I would like the color, however The after shots were beautiful, so warm and inviting.
I totally get the 'shock' when making this kind of change, but I love it! In the end, you'll know. You have great taste!❤
Hi Serena! I worked for Sherwin Williams and if you post a photo of the tag on the can of trim paint people who love the color can bring it into Sherwin Williams and have them copy the formula. Wouldn't it be fun to start a trend?!?! Just a thought. Love how you share your thoughts and hopes so freely. I also appreciate how you just put it out there! Ignore the naysayers. Keep living in your dreams. As to the color, I love it! We don't use enough color in life these days.
Selina That little vase you have for your bathroom is lovely.❤❤❤❤❤
My personal feel of your front entrance would be a soft pastel colour, maybe in the same palette as your living room but much paler.
I love the new color! It looks so beautiful with the colors of the stairs, trim, and table.
Hello Dearest Selena, I absolutely love you. ❤️ In response to your question regarding the paint color, I actually really like it. It seems to define that little area, and make it pop a bit. As you stated, almost that beautiful, grand hotel feel. ♥️
I think that color looks so pretty in your entry way. You were talking about a pretty blue, we painted our bedroom in Sherman Williams “sea salt” blue and it’s so calming! It goes with so much. I love your style!
I love sea salt as well. It’s muted, almost neutral but has color and oddly changes with the light…. Sometimes blue altering green. I have it too. I really like it.
I love it! It goes so well with the wood tones and the green of your plant.
Lol the next day I love it as long as you don’t paint stair back wall.I think that would make the space too dark. This color warms up the small space,it’s inviting to me! Love all your videos of you and your families adventures.thanks for sharing. can’t wait to see the rest painted.
I love the color of the walls with the stair runner
I absolutely love it!!! It's Beautiful! All that counts is if you like it!
Love the color keep it ❤ it’s warm and cozy. I fell it has a vintage vibe that’s a Good thing
I love it. Live with it for a week with all your accessories there. It is Victorian looking and goes so well with the stair wood and the stair carpet. A smaller area is a great place to use a stronger color.
I think the new color looks beautiful! Victorian homes used gorgeous colors to decorate there home 🏡 Great job 👏
Selina the color is beautiful. As others stated follow your instincts because they are spot on for as long as I’ve been following you.
Love your blouse too.
I love it and do not think it is too bright. The pop of color and that gorgeous plant looks great.
I think the color looks warm and inviting in the space, but if you don’t love it then it’s probably not the right color in the space for you. ❤
The color is beautiful it compliments, your rug, the piece of furniture you have by the stairs, the green that comes from the plant, one commentator said that you should paint the great behind the piece of furniture and that’s a yes for me. Also, lots of people do that and it will just disappear because when you’re looking at it from a far you can see it on the bottom you’re doing fantastic. Trust your instinct, the first one is pretty much the right one! Your home is beautiful. Keep it going.❤
