key personally picked jeno cause he thought jeno was a great singer and rapper and because he felt their voices were opposite and he felt that jeno's huskiness in his voice was a nice contrast to his own voice.
for the choreo of bound pls keep the name of the song "bound" in mind. i think it was a very smart play on lyrics as well. key moved like he was bound. being as fluid as he is that was clearly a choice that I personally really enjoy cuz it delivers the exact vibe of the song.
I would've definitely preferred physical bounds and the more fluid movements i mentioned but fair!
Fun Fact: The choreographer for Beyonce's "My Power" video helped with the choreography for Key's Gasoline, I believe her name is Kany Diabate Ahn. She's amazingly talented! :)

I think Key set out to prove a lot with this album. He's amazing.
the helium choreography was actually done by newjeans' choreographer, blackq, who's currently on street man fighter with his crew eoddae (the one with all gay members)! he was also a back dancer for bad love (and b sides) during promotions.
He´s such a good dancer ♥
the album gets better and better!! the first time I listened to it I didn´t like it that much but the songs grow on you quickly!! Now I´m loving almost all of the songs :D
Especially G.O.A.T, Burn, I can´t sleep, Bound, Villain, After Life and Proud!
same. with me, it happened with bad love too. i still think bad love is the stronger album, but only because his standard has become higher and higher with every release. can't wait to see how's the repackage will change this. hopefully it will be like nct 127's favourite. i was on the fence about sticker, but favourite really changed the game

really like that refreshing (?) feeling when key moves because it feels so clean and clear, but also smooth
omg yes the helium coreo - and now bound too- made me feeel some type of way and i couldnt really tell what i wished was different, it wasnt necessarily the energy bc he was still serving, but more like what you said: it feels like hes holding back a looooot, a bit stiff compared to the girls when we know KNOW what he can do. TEASING is precisely what hes doing.

I think the Bound choreo suits the costume. It’ll be a bit weird and off if he’s wearing that and he dances with extra flair and fluidity. It’s also in vibes with the song title, Bound.

His Gasoline choreo DP was incredible, I loved his expressions... he was cocky, intense and sexy...I love seeing that on an idol performing. P.s I think he chose Jeno bc he's smart... Jeno is very popular with the younger ppl, ofc Key doesn't need help but doesn't hurt to use your resources ;)

That's interesting- I personally liked Gasoline album more than Bad Love lol. I think comparing them is like comparing apples to oranges because the music and singing style is different but I think that's what is so great about Key because most artists keep on making the same song style over and over again. Their albums don't sound new or different it's the same thing. Anyway I loved this album's sound more than Bad Love's. It took me a couple of times listening to the Bad Love album to really like it but this album I liked it the first time I played it through.

Bound’s choreographer is one of the female dancers, Redy/Soobin (the one with the hime haircut).
She works with Key often during his solo stages. He apparently saw her voguing, asked her about that kind of dance style and she went on to create the choreo from there.

Villain is definitely a favourite. I cant quite find the words to describe it, but I feel like Keys performance feels more like a snake, precise, quick but also long and elegant, while Jeno gives me like panther vibes, still has that "animalistic" slick elegance to it but more power, more rough stalking in the movement. I dont mean in the sense of him executing the choreo rough, just the energy of it. Like the difference between Kai and Taemin doing Tiger inside choreo.
Lol I felt like Key’s Gasoline hit so hard. I don’t even think any of the music show/studio performances were are on par except for maybe the Inkigayo stage

I thought the SMP floor was random at first too. But it makes sense since there are a lot of dance reactors now. But I think this just a part of SM wanting to give ppl a peek into the process of how SM’s releases come together. There is even a SM songwriting camp IG acct now. That’s how I know Moonshine/Kenzie must have written the Title track (or at least a bside) for RV Seulgi’s solo debut coming out next month. And among the mountain of NCT YT content, there is video where Doyoung/Jungwoo shows us the songwriting camp studios at SM and interviews NCT’s head A&R person

It's true Bound does not give us heels which would have been super cool, but there is a kpop bg that does choreo in heels N.O.M. It gets their videos banned in Korea, but damn do they look good and sassy
I'm torn because on the one hand I kind of agree with some of your opinions on the bound choreo, but on the other hand I really like that it's more restrained. I feel like it really suits the vibe. 100% agree with the heels though! That is not something I'd ever thought of before but now it's all I want in life... I'm just glad he wasn't physically bound for these stages, for my own sanity!

I think Bound is iconic for sure, but it is hard not to also see the potential of following through with the concept now that you mention it. Also since you mentioned heels now I really want to see Jo Kwon do a cover in heels.. Or the two of them together honestly, like we had Jo Kwon promoting in heels in like 2012(song Animal)? We need the heels back!

I'm back to this but because idk how else to give you recommendations 😭 but if you haven't seen it yet, PLEASE watch Jonghyun's "Y Si Fuera Ella" performance...I just saw it and quite literally burst into tears
I swear I thought of heels as well!! If anyone could have pulled it off it'd have been Key... Honestly, we barely see heels with any 4th gen idols, only the older gals. Thank goodness for Hyolyn comebacks

But I agree about wanting more from Bound. I wish they had committed more either to the concept of the song or with the potential voguing (like Shinhwa did with This Love). I don't think the choreo is giving the storytelling that it should to enhance the song.
