The thing is, the anonymity of a vtuber's model can either become a mask you use to protect yourself from outside sources, or a mask you use to help you express yourself more freely. Think about it that way, if you've been, for example, bullied all your life, both at home and at school and you have no self-confidence and hate yourself, that mask can really help you speak your mind and it will help you faking it until you make it and become able to break out of your shell.
