Hey Bruce. Allot of these 21st century Chinese caps in mid range hi if gear are scary mediocre crap!
Japanese capacitors like Panasonic, Elna, Nichicon etc. last for decades.
Not to mention the bloody counterfeit caps that have managed to end up on some quality motherboards.

If all else fails, watch Branchus Creations Live streams. Or take a break and feed the chickens.

I attempted my first recap earlier this year, on an LC575. I thought I did a pretty good job, everything looked ok. Turns out I installed all the tantalum caps backward. It’s now become a winter project, for those cold nights when the sun sets at 5:30.

Lucky you didn’t end up with a cracker night. Those tantalum’s make excellent fireworks if abused.

Convincing me to re-inspect my board just helped me save a vintage mac GPU. I had replaced some caps that were starting to go bad on it, but when I plugged it back in, I had lines all over the display. Turns out I had accidentally bridged two of the pins on a VRAM IC. Cleared that up and I'm back in action!

Just what I needed when despairing over my Macintosh Classic's analog board. And logic board too, probably, but one problem at a time..

Hi Bruce, I havent had any luck with getting through on your website? I have a few Macs I would like to be recapped and diagnosed. How Can I get in contact with you and put in a hjob request for each one of the macs I need worked on?

Would finger nail polish work in place of the UV solder mask? I'm not sure I need enough to use the whole thing but do have nail polish around the house.
