    Can’t wait till my turn. Interesting seeing a different view of shoreham, I was born there and have driven along that dual carriageway (A27) thousands of times

    Hi Oli, delighted to hear that your girlfriend is training to become a commercial pilot - having an IFR rating is essential as it allows you more access to controlled airspace than just filing a flight plan as a VFR flight - the ILS at Dublin EIDW RWY 28 is CAT 3 so you are prepared if the weather turns IMC which can also happen very quickly West of the River Shannon - Dublin Weston EIWT is in close proximity to the Casement Baldonnel Millitary airspace so a flight to Ireland West Airport at Knock EIKN is a challenging approach to RWY 27 on a high elevation on the sodden Co. Mayo countryside with very low RVR - filing flight plans within Irish airspace is mandatory for both VFR & IFR flights but the number of flights is much lower than in the U.K. - I’m not sure if you are aware of the story of how Knock Airport got to be built, but it was the brainchild of Mons. James Horan the local Catholic Parish Priest of Knock, who wanted to bring sick and disabled pilgrims into the nearby Knock Shrine to Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland and I’ve been very supportive of the airport since it’s inception - maybe the next time you fly with your Mum, she might want to go on a pilgrimage to Knock with you and your girlfriend - Ryanair and Aer Lingus (and for a time Flybe) currently operate direct flights into Knock from the U.K.

    Hello, Oli! Do I need to know english perfectly to be a pilot?

    • @PilotOli
      @PilotOli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It does not need to be perfect but you do need to pass an English test!

      You do need to be fluent and be able to comprehend though! I’m not quite sure what the rating is, wether it’s B2, C1 or C2 I assume one of those

    Nice video. Except…..Tricky to follow ATC audio cos of microphone crackle, made worse by (pointless) music.

    • @BritishAirywaysdude

      You can’t help the microphone ‘crackle’ it’s radio chatter anyway. The music is to fill space and mute it if you don’t enjoy it.

    Better to hear you without music, especially awfull music.
