Just to add - this video has saved me a load of time sorting out why my starter was "dead". The trigger ring was not properly seated. Make sure the ring is clipped to the plastic cover. Fit the cover and ring and get them fully seated. Fit the two big spade connectors into the plastic cover and over the M8 stud. Fit the M8 nut and finally the plastic top cover. I added a zip tie as its quite loose.

Good advice about making work space for yourself. There is no point "saving time" when the job gets 10x harder to do. For comparing the mounting bolt hole spacing, just measure from the internal side of each hole and compare. We don't need the centre to centre measurement. We simply need to know they are the same.

Thanks for watching! And yes I usually do that for bolt alignment. Have a nice weekend

Can't find the video with the wiring for the starter. Could you please send it. I don't know which one comes frist after the negative wire. Which positive the bigger oder the smaller one

There is no negatives. The body of the starter in contact with the engine is the negative.
The big cable is the permanent from the battery and the small is the signal from the ignition switch.

Lol. I'm afraid that is never going to happen. Never saw one here. In Portugal diesel is king

Yes, I'm aware of that. I saw them on the 164 and 166 engines here on the channel. They really are "in there"

Nice to know is Valeo and not Bosch. Why Bosch parts are so bad? I own Lancias and Alfa Romeos and every electrical and electronic issue was because Bosch parts.

Hello. Problem with Bosch is to many low quality factories.
There is a story here in the air force base that all F16s had to take out all the Bosch wiring harness and put it magnetti marelli ones. In order to Bosch to win the contract, the quality of the wiring had to be low. Same thing with cars I guess. They are good when they want it to be.
Valeo is nice, very nice indeed.
