    Went this weekend for the first time since guys like Zanardi, Moore, and Franchitti were racing. I was very impressed with the level of access, it was really cool crossing paths with the drivers and getting right next to the cars as they were moving from the paddock to pit lane before sessions. Even got to congratulate the winner of the Saturday USF Pro 2000 race in the paddock! Loved being able to walk right up to cars in the support paddock too, got great pictures of the Elantra TCR which was really special to me since I've spent hundreds of hours racing it in iracing.
    The best part though, I went with my partner and friends who got into F1 during the pandemic through DTS, they gave Indycar a chance, and we're already making plans to come back next year.

    Great video and great advertising for the access that IndyCar provides its fans!! I too did the grid walk for the first time this year, very cool and you dont have to be a rich celebrity to get access like in F1.
    The grandstands looked like they were soldout for race day and I hear it was the biggest crowd since just after the split.

    Great video and great details all around! I'm from Portland, Oregon so I've been to CART and IMSA races at PIR going back to the late 80's. It's the only track I've seen Indycar at. The paddock for Indycar at PIR is outdoors, but the paddock pass is cheap so that's great (though not too many people buy it, which is weird). I really like the Toronto track itself, but I'm not impressed with those grandstand views, compared to PIR. You only got to see the cars for maybe 2 seconds at that location, so it seems like a weird place for grandstands. The "Festival" grandstands at PIR let you see them race all the way down the front straight, navigate the "Festival" curves, finish the front straight then through the first couple long corners. Or the General Admission grassy hills and stands let you see them finish the back straight, go through 8 and 9, then blast down the front straight. That's why 2 seconds of view seems pretty poor, lol. Otherwise, fantastic track though.

    I used to go to the indy when it was cart and champ car. The last 2 years have been the first since 07. I noticed how much less there is to do around the there the track. I remember there was a car show, they had some cool race simulator games and alot more. I hope they bring stuff like that back.

    • @Demise90Racing
      @Demise90Racing  ปีที่แล้ว

      There used to be so much but it seems like it gets less and less every single year unfortunately. It's the only downside to the event. The Honda tent used to run 4 rFactor simulators that you can all race against each other for a small donation. The goal was trying to beat the lap time that James Hinchcliffe sent. It's unfortunate that this stuff went away and I'm not really sure why.

    Yup veteran move with trying to get seats on the very top of the grandstand so that you can stand, I personally think it's worth the premium to be able to do so. Luckily been to Road America and will be at the finale at Laguna Seca this season but miss that IndyCar is not doing COTA (my home track). Pit walk seems similar to the venues I've been to but having the inside garage is definitely a godsend for the crew and is definitely unique. Sucks about the lack of merch but at least there is some since the MotoGP race in COTA this year, there wasn't enough merch available to even have a "main" merch area.

  • @HeracrossYT

A few more years and you'll be there! Glad this video was helpful. I also saw TK in the pits in Toronto, heading to one the McLaren pit boxes. I yelled "TK" and he waived at me as he zipped by on his scooter lol.

  • @MalloryMinerva
    @MalloryMinerva ปีที่แล้ว

    My experience at an Indycar race is limited to Portland, so I can give some compare and contrast:
    Climactically, Portland is not for the faint of heart. It's hot and there isn't much shade. The paddock here being in the expo center looks amazing by contrast.
    The merch selection was fantastic, better than Formula E too.
    The friday autograph session was amazing, I accumulated driver cards and got a diecast signed by Will Power and a book signed by Grosjean. Friday wasn't free so the lines were shorter.
    I got to see the cars up close during the friday technical inspection.
    My paddock pass came bundled with my ticket to the infield grandstand at the chicane. The chicane grandstand is in fact not the best seat in the house despite being the most expensive, due to no shade and having no view of the main straight. The PA and giant YV also isn't super perceptible from there so I had to use the live timings on my phone.
    I noticed that Alex Palou was a very accessable driver in particular, and actually so was Takuma Sato although he got far less attention :(((
    From a racing standpoint Portland is always a banger no matter what series it is, it's like Indycar's Monza, however the amount of walking and exposure to the elements there requires some courage to brave. The food trucks are also very good (Portland has a legendary food truck scene) but the prices were rather gouged, so I prepared a picnic.
    Overall I think Toronto looks like the easier fan experience, despite the longer autograph lines and smaller merch selection.
