Put in 500 hours to this game and literally spent some entire weekends just seeing new places. Only once did I ever come across a place another person was on at the same time. It was THAT large. I discovered hundreds of places and I loved that there was some static initially. I knew what to look out for. But I wanted variation too, so thankfully this update will offer more. The craziest thing happened to me today. I found a player in a place where I would never expect to find one: the 19th galaxy, a very lonely place, but they left before I had a chance to say hi.
@Hugo Fergusson Well, I mean, I put in those hours over several years. The game has been out for quite a while now. But yes, I think you could. I would never have put that much time into the game if I felt it was not fun to play. Of course, the more you play the more you learn. The fact that Murray acknowledged the team's feelings for the players and how they might respond to a new update is very heartwarming. Barely any studios today do this, but Hello Games is a big exception, one that was literally put to the test nearly 4 years ago.
I hope the team that works on No Man's Sky can see the positivity of this comment section. They truly deserve it for sticking with the game and making it what it was supposed to be.
This is kind of nostalgic for me. I haven't listened to Sean Murray talking about No Man's Sky since before the game actually released. I was so hyped back then, and so addicted to every source of information I could get. I watched every interview, no matter how repetitive they were. I couldn't stop talking about the game back then, and I preordered the limited edition version for my PS4 with the background theme and stuff. I haven't actually played the game since 2016 though, before any of these kinds of updates, but now I find myself getting interested in the idea again.
This game is actually starting to look like the concepts I saw years ago. I've owned the game since release but haven't played it since then. It's time to fire it up. I'm glad they didn't give up on it like so many devs do when their game releases and people criticize their work.
This is the first game I bought TWICE, on PC, and when I got a PSVR, buying it on PS4 was a no-brainer, and it is AMAZING in VR. These people are insane in how they're adding all these updates and content when other publishers would have started charging for each update as DLCs years ago.
I was closely following nms when it was being created back in the day and I must say, they have come so damn far. I put at least 200 hours into it when it was released. To come back after so much time to see what conditions it’s in, is absolutely incredible.
@@peeko_luxx2873 Makes you think what so many games could have become with a dedicated team. I mean, so many of these publishers say they have to sell content as DLC as well as microtransactions to survive. Heck, even CD projekt red sold their Wild Hunt expansion. I think this is a great story of the extremes in game development. I didn’t really get into NMS - but I have been enthralled to see the struggle of Hello Games from villain to hero. To be honest I don’t know if their behaviour now makes up for what they did - but I’m totally supportive of devs actually striving to be what they dreamed of - and not to be only defined by their mistakes. I adore this man and truly believe he has been nothing but genuine and passionate from the start. I think he just unfortunately got swept up the community and hype and promised a lot of things on the dev list that just couldn't make the dead line. Everyone was just squeezing him for new info constantly so he eventually ran out of things to say that were IN the game and would make deadline, so he talked about things they were planning but couldn't do in time. Every project has huge cuts during development and no project ships the way it was originally conceived. The difference is Sean actually made it a reality. This is the ultimate redemption story of pulling yourself by the bootstraps and getting the work done. He is a golden human being.

I was quite pissed back when I bought the game at the initial release. Wasn't able to refund it on Steam because I left the game open for more than 3 hours or so, so it was abandoned in my library for years.
Started an online save with a few friends a few months ago and was amazed by how much the game has improved. I will not hesitate to recommend this game to my friends and I definitely respect the devs for not giving up on their creation.
Same, I couldn't refund due to getting it digitally on my ps4 but it really did make a comeback. I stopped again about five months ago due to getting burnt out on trying to get a living ship but this update is definitely bringing me back again.
there was actually a small time period when steam was giving out refunds to people who had purchased the game and played it for more the two hour time period. i still wasn't able to get mine refunded though.

leaf16nut what were his 10 chances? They mean second chance as in the first chance was the original no mans sky that didn’t really hold up to everyone’s expectations and then the way he’s redeemed a seemingly universally hated game into a unique, enjoyable game with a strong fan base, instead of “going ghost” and giving up on what seemed like a doomed to fail product, ultimately risking his money and reputation because he wanted to make something he could be proud of and fully realise his vision

I adore this man and truly believe he has been nothing but genuine and passionate from the start. I think he just unfortunately got swept up the community and hype and promised a lot of things on the dev list that just couldn't make the dead line.
