Just as Muslims destroyed the great scientific and spiritual center Gundishapur in Persia in 7 century the Byzantium destroyed Ani according to religious reason. Maybe Ani was a last center in the East where Greco-Roman pagan wisdom, Zoroastrian, Islamic and Christian mysticism was free from pressure in that time and we know G.Gurdjiev with his friends spent a lot of time in the caves, valleys, ruins of old city searching manuscripts and palimpsests.
