- (www.victorybeer...) On November 1st in Moab, Utah, The Big 10 Inch set a new Guinness World record shooting a La Estrella variety pumpkin some 4,623 feet.
Since 1999, Victory has sponsored The Big 10 Inch Air Cannon Pumpkin Chucker Team. (Yes, it is exactly that a cannon that shoots pumpkins.) The two-time world champion team has the pre-launch tradition of christening pumpkins with our HopDevil Ale.
I'm disappointed with the video. Could we at least get a shot of the pumpkin flight at some point, or a little perspective of where it landed compared to where it was fired from?

I heard some guy hit a bird with a pumpkin after a launch and got disqualified. If anything, he should've gotten bonus points.

@Revis actually if you look into plant science squash tomatoes watermelons are considered fruits because they carry their seeds in a protective casing above ground. Anything that has edible roots ect is a vegetable, so carrots beets horseradish radishes ect. But yea any person or grocery store will call it a vegetable.

Sorry, ACDC, but the watermelon looking thing is actually a La Estrella pumpkin! Not only are they great ammunition, but they make a mean pumpkin pie! Citron melons were used during the 'steroids era' of World Championship Punkin Chunkin (2011 event), and have since been deemed to not be pumpkins. During his interview, co-captain Ralph alludes to a melon with regards to Green River, UT ('the Worlds Watermelon Capital') - we didn't get to shoot any while we were out in UT.

with that amount of pressure i would keep some distance from that thing... Might not look like much but if it blows... Not nuclear mushroom cloud or anything, but no problem taking a limb or a life.

At the time, Guinness labeled the World Record category as 'vegetable chucking', and have since renamed it to 'farthest distance firing a pumpkin.' At the time we were being asked to shoot watermelons from Green River, UT - the self proclaimed watermelon capital of the world.

Basically any fruit that isn't one of the traditional sweet fruits we think of as fruits is called a vegetable. What makes it a vegetable? A shift in the definition of vegetable that occurred when a large percentage of the population decide to make that shift. However the masses use a word becomes proper.

Unless "watermelon" in this context refers to the vine, leaves, root, or other non-ovular component, a watermelon is not a vegetable.

As an engineer... Why is the Canon not at 45 degrees
Because while 45 degree is theoretically the best launch angle, when you take into account air resistance, it is best around 30 degrees for distance
