The running gag is that no other siege weapon is able to launch a 90 kg projectile 300 meters. @@scootch4224 Trebuchets were not anti personel weapons. they were immobile, and had only limited ability to aim anywhere else but straight ahead. which makes them a no-go for field battles.
To say trebuchets were mostly used against infantry, is like claiming battering rams were anti-infantry.
Trebuchets were "siege engines", machines devised and dedicated to one single purpose: battering down the walls and defenses of besieged castles and towns.
the trebuchets came in diffrent sizes and the enormous ones were the exceptions, true, but the always were sizeable, because they had to be to launch sufficiently large stones sufficiently far.
      And especially the counterweight trebuchets.
Their whole point was about sitting just outside the range of the defenders archers and crossbowsmen, and shoot at one part of the defenses again ans again, until something starts to crumble.

@@LutzDerLurch Smaller trebuchets had almost no effect in seiging. It's like shooting a bow at a shield that can stop arrows, there is no point.

@@scootch4224 There was a range of sizes in trebuchets, but they all were considerable machines, precisely because they were siege weapons.
