Carp and roaches are wonderful in winter I think. very nice video. Thank you very much for your efforts. Gladly more of it . Greetings from Northern Germany
Just seen this ,you are bonkers, but respect where respect is due. Informative as ever and another great watch. Really appreciate your videos Jon. Little one is a star.....thanks. K
You've kept us going with some cracking videos this year Jon thank you very much hope you and your family have a great Christmas and good luck for next year 👍👍👍
Good to see some videos on Makins as it's 2 mins down the road from me. Think I heard you mentioning your came from this area as I lived in Rugby for many years. Anyway thanks for the videos there really helpful and possible may bump into you on the bank one day. 👍
What a little cuttie, she's growing so quick, Im recovering from a emergency Hernia opp, otherwise I would be out fishing in that weather, instead I can sit an watch all you new videos, bless your heart sitting out in that, but at least u didn't blank 👏 Happy Christmas to you and your family x
As you say we must be mad but we do it because we love fishing Jon. Shocking weather conditions. It can only get better, we hope. I agree with what you were about to say about the weather man. 😄
Jon. Thanks for all your content in the last 12 months. Respect! Hope you and your family have a really enjoyable Christmas. Best wishes for a peaceful 2022. Hope you all stay safe.
What a grueller!!,I've had some terrible matches,it's so hard to get any footage to make videos,I can appreciate the work you put in on your channel now lol.Kiddies growing up fast,Christmas is so nice when they that old, have a cracking one Merry Xmas to you all.
Takes me back to the days I've fished on the Kennet and Avon canal in the winter when you can't get your keepnet to fold down properly because its so frozen !! thanks for the great video's this year, more of the same next year please, Cheers.
Some tips for you and ya viewers. I've fished through a hole on the ice in -10 and colder for 6 hour stints. Heres a few tips on how to keep warm, some seem obvious once you think about it. 1. Don't ware a cotton it will hold moisture and make you cold. 2. All of the areas of your body where major arteries run near the surface of the skin need to be kept as warm as poss. A. Neck is the most important as it keeps ya head warm so decent scarf. b. wrists and ankles as the blood going to your hands and feet is very close to the surface and cools fast. c. Always dry your hands if you can with a towel they burn at first then eventually warm up if kept dry. d. keep out of the wind if poss. Fair play to ya for sitting it out Jon.
I've not been for a long time, but I used fingerless wetsuit gloves in my day. They keep your hands warmer when they are wet better than when dry. Also, waders with liners work best if you take your socks off, I found. But this is all 25 years ago, so I don't know if there is better now. Used to work in -5 freezing fog when feeder or bomb was the only option.
fair play to you JON,i can not fish in the cold no more my hands get painfull, gone have the days of braking the ice.looking forward to you fishing the thames festivals.
Well done Jon. Was out that day with the boy. A lone carp and a few chub saved the day. Nightmare packing up with everything covered and not being able to feel my fingers!
The snow and ice may have been cold and nasty. But there's a warn cute and sweet Katie waiting at home for you. Can't believe how fast she's growing., and how long her hair is.. Any way, enough of me missing my grand daughter, and marvelling at your little girl. Such a pretty winters day to be out, but it looked as cold as the ice on the water. Well done for stick with till the bitter end. I'm off to spoils our grandson now, before he has to go home...LOL (He's 5 weeks old, and edible). Keep well Jon. TTFN.
Reminded me of one-off my last ever course matches. Fishing on a river with thick snow. Thin ice covering the river and as soon as you broke some it refroze. Sat there for 5 hours all for a handful of tiny roach and dace 😃. That feeling when you got home and jumped in a hot bath though 😀😀👍🏻👍🏻
Considering the weather great video Jon. One fish off wasn't a bad result in reality and definitely worth staying for. I sometimes agree we are all mad for fishing in the conditions we go out in. Been caught out with snow like that a few times and on two occasions didn't get home to following day.
To continue fishing was a achievement! But to give us a video as well shows to dedication. Thank you so much Jon. Also Jon can I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas! May your float keep dipping and your tip keep going round in 2022 🎣🎣🎣
Well done for staying to the end Jon. I fully sympathise with you and the weather having done the same a number times a few years ago. Its having to decide if you have enough to challenge against packing up and finding later that you should have stayed on. I am glad i watched the video as we have fished Derwent amongst others on phase 3 and you gave me lots of tips on how to approach the water. Unlucky in the end though. Any way, many thanks for the tips and insights you have given us through your video's. I wish you and your family a very happy and merry Christmas and a great New Year. 🧑🎄🌨
Well down for sticking it out to the end despite the snow, even on an unfancied peg. I’m out on Tuesday even if it says only 1c degrees and hope to catch a few in our club match. Once again A Merry Christmas to you and the family and hope you keep em coming. On a last note , Come on guys, nearly 8000 views and only 350 likes, the man deserves more than that so click and subscribe. And no I’m not getting paid for it!!!.
much respect for you for going fishing and filming under these harsh conditions Jon!👍 Definitely not my hobby in that kind of weather! takes me two days to thaw myself!🙈
When the clocks go back in October I stopped going fishing until March, my days of fishing in freezing conditions are long gone, at least the sun didn't bother you much LOL...
I hate fishing in the cold, got bad circulation and my hands cramp up which makes it impossible to pack up. If its dry, calm and over 5c i can just about manage.
the days that electrically heated body warmers are made for time to move into the 21st century keep the core temperature of the body high it keeps the rest of you warm
Gosh! She's gorgeous & growing up too fast Jon! .... my 3 gorgeous daughters are now in their 30's (only 14 months apart in age!) ... I must have had a decent love life years ago, despite the team match fishing on the cut every week with the likes of Billy Makin & his dodgy side-kick from Hinkley (he knows who he is! The pre-whistle groundbait + joker dumper! 😨).. Anyway, I feel for you, having to go out fishing in the snow & make videos to earn a crust!! ... I was also a silly bugger once, and had to break the thick ice on the canal before the start whistle sounded 😨😨! ...f**k that for a game of soldiers now! I'm enjoying life!! 😉 ❤ lol x
My eldest daughter said on match fishing “the winner should get to push all the other losers in” I said If thar happened daddy would go for a swim every week 😂
Not my thing those noisy trays with lids that get in the way of everything and stop you fishing the margins. They’re just for big water feeder flingers lol. A towel was all I needed. Plus no one forecast that blizzard!
I used to enjoy those days when I was young but now I am glad I am watching from my nice warm front room thanks for the viewing jon
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Always a pleasure watching Jon..

Tough old day that. Don’t think I’d have bothered tbh but then I’m 69 years of age. Well done for sitting through the bitter cold and snow.
No one forecast the snow on this day!

Hi Jon. Love the vids. Didn’t have you down as a drum and bass enthusiast!

I enjoyed this vid (does that make me a sadist?😆)
Cheers daft lad 👍🍺🍌
I'm afraid the pole would be back in the holdall and the brolly and feeder rod would be out! My hands can't cope with that.
I don't miss fishing in that!
Winner winner ... 🐓
Tough day Jon should have built an igloo you would have kept warmer 👍🤣
the days that electrically heated body warmers are made for time to move into the 21st century keep the core temperature of the body high it keeps the rest of you warm
I had mine on and it was on half the day!
@@JonArthur think in that case I would have been like a few others and a dnw and home for an early finish
Went from a nice day to arctic conditions haha
