My recommendations
Tribit stormbox micro 2 - $60 - 8/10 -
A really great sounding speaker at an affordable price and also very compact. Perfect for biking or the beach.
In addition, an application with an equalizer and a battery indicator is available
Soundcore Motion 300 - $80 - 7/10 -
Great sounding speaker with a nice customizable EQ and an adaptive EQ that changes the sound depending on position. But it can distort sometimes
JBL Partybox Encore - $300-330 - 9/10 -
A good loudspeaker with deep bass for a party. It has an equalizer app and has bass boost options that make it even better
will enhance the party. Additionally, there are 2 microphones in the box (USA) and 1 microphone in the EU. I even prefer the encore to the boombox 3. New models have now better battery. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
Nice video! I have an outdated Sony speaker (same size as JBL Charge 4) from 4-5 years ago so I will definitely buy the Xtreme 4 in the next weeks!

ny recommendations on restoring and brands on battery replacement...for these models....working on a Xtreme 2..are they all the same battery system besides 20,000mah..and older smlallr10,000mahs.

6:29 the Xtreme 3 sounds more resistance to distortion, while the the Xtreme 4 sounded like they hitting the magnet badly, sounds like they overpowering the woofers or too much excursion, sounds like remains me of Xtreme 1 also😭
This is fine. Still better than version 3. I'm sure that version 3 is limited by the DSP processor firmware.

One thing ive noticed is that The x3 is frequency is linear but limits its bass at 80%, but retains its 53hz to 20khz Range as volume increases, where the higher you go on the x4, the 45-50hz bass at of the x4 dissapears, and at max volume the x3 has about half a db more deep bass and plays deeper, wich is simply shocking, its been 4 years and basically 0 improvements have been made, they only increased volume by the mids, the aux was removed and they even charge more!😂, Atleast the new massive battery is nice

Hi Dominik. I can't find anywhere if the extreme 4 still has the 3,5mm aux port. It is not on the jbl website or the specs document. Can you check please? That would be a disaster for DJs as these speakers were often used as monitor speaker over the aux port. Also Soundcore started removing the aux port. Thx

The ultimate way to measure this Xtreme 4 would be to put it against Tribit Stormbox Blast.
Other than that couple of comments from me:
1) I don't think the deeper bass which disappears after 80% is worth the extra money.
2) The test at 70% (7:10) - am I the only one who hears bass distortion?
3) We can wait for some firmware update or/and EQ setting so it can sound better, early manufactured devices are always prone to bugs

I had xtreme 3 and sold it for boombox 2. If you use an old xtreme 2 strap and make it full length it fits on the boombox 1,2 and 3 handle perfectly and is better to carry because it doesn’t just move around. JBL needs to make a boombox 4 with a strap and screw the xtremes off 😅

If you’re planning to upgrade, my best bet should be boombox 3. Xtreme 4 kinda sucks.

Not changing drivers like on the new boombox led to this cute result. At the end of the day there’s only so much sound that these tiny woofers are able to put out.
Remember that with speakers like these you’re lucky if they put out 25 Watts continuous RMS. not more. nowhere near 80 or whatever they claim.

It's 30 watts rms per each woofer, which is quite reasonable and with the given loudness its most likely that they're not lying about the power.

The xtreme 4 is overpriced.
More bass at low volume, but treble is not smooth, its on the harsh side i think. But on the 3 too.
Edit: wooow distortion alert with 70%. Whats up with jbl.
I own many jbl speakers (710, encores, 310,....) there you get good price/value, but not here.
I think on the new one the treble is smoother, x3 have 6khz peak and 12,5khz peak
Remember, it’s a very new speaker. It will likely be fixed in a future firmware update.

@@M3RCURY_MUSIC It does have a 700hz peak, it's absolutely massive, and the fact the mid drivers sits under the tweeters and that tweeters are producing a rather sharp treble, it really doesn't help and make the overall sound way too sharp and agressive.
Some people may be okay with that sound signature, but it's flawed nonetheless...
The 3 bands EQ can't really fix that 700hz peak too because before and after that peak there's dips in the lower mids and upper mids.
Which means by the time you fix the 700hz peak, the 300 to 600hz region and the 800hz to 2~3khz region will be completely missing
The sound leans back and the high frequencies are less harsh. Lower frequencies seem to extend a bit better. The sound is a bit darker. Personally, maybe the 4 sounds less fatiguing.
Xtreme 4 lacks bass after 70hz, its about 5db. So the deep bass is more appearing in the new one
I have 2 StormBox blast and I'm curious if xtreme 4 is on par with it. I bought the blast for its endurance. Is it wise to buy 2 xtreme 4s?

@@DominikReviews okay. Thanks for the tip. I'm not selling my blasts if ever I'd get the xtremes. I'm just attracted to it's size since it's a lot smaller. My blast cant fit in my scooter but I do have an 25Liter compartment so i think xtreme would fit. Anyway, I'll stay with the blasts even i have to put it in a bag Goin to the beach most of the time. Lastly, xtreme 3 is around 190 200usd here now so I'm just curious for the 4s.thanks

@@DominikReviews but 4 is out. Sooo, that's why I'm curious about it. 4 is 240 to 250. I'm in asia so the price differs. I have no interest on the 3 since 4 is out. I'm not an audiophile. Just a guy that wants to have a speaker that is not too bulky but not too small. Don't get me wrong, I love the blasts but I really can't put it in my motorcycles boxes. One got 25 liter and other is 23. I have scooters. I am sure xtreme would fit but im skeptical about its endurance. My blasts can play 9 to 11 hours with different volumes as the day pass by. I'm just into endurance.

To the people complaining about the distortion, you have to remember this speaker is very new and will have problems. It will likely be fixed in a future firmware update.

Just f** up whatever Engineer design this. If I'm the Engineer i will modify Xtreme 3 chassis instead, and cap Subwoofer in it. Build some Oval midrange drivers that can fit. And design a perfect housing for tweeters at face of midrange. Unlike Boombox 3. Which kind of weird Tweeter housing. The housing is the same side as the cone woofer and it blocks the wave by getting straight front instead. The mids indirectly cames out straight in front and come out on top and bottom part that isn't blocked. So it's hard to describe. But you know what I'm talking about if you analyze and study it deeply by how strange tweeter housing is. Even the wires are exposed. So

xtreme 3 for me . when used for spotify streaming . an app called eqfy with 10 band graphic equalizer maks it sound all the more sweeter. not worth the cost of the uopgrade to get xtreme 4. maybe 5 or 6. dont like the syling of the 4 either
Da ali xtreme 4 ipak ima po meni bolje izvedene rucke,nogice ispod trajanje baterije razumno za ovu velicinu i cjenu koja se plati. Mišljenja sam da je sa iteracijom 4 jbl došao do vrhunca i da ne trebaju nove izvedbe ove popularne serije xtreme. I da još je i baterija izmjenjiva.

From my observations, Xtreme 4 is definitely an improvement. Deeper bass at lower levels, better mids and bass punch at higher levels. Only downside is it's still not worth buying considering that other competition are offering better quality sound than this. Tribit, Soundcore and even the older Vifa speakers.
Right now if you pay 20 bucks more than the xtreme 4 you can get a boombox 3 wich is A lot better deal

I may be wrong but soundwise Xtreme 3 is too harsh for me at maximum. Anyway Xtreme series are getting boring each upgrade. There are only minor improvements and sound tweaking but not really innovative. Just waiting to see another Vifa caliber speaker to get released.
Not really. If you made real life personal comparison, you'd know better. Yes, the signature sound setting/tuning is not best, but the hardware is there and it is well matured product. It has its qualities.

I had a xtreme 3 for almost 2 years. Sold it and bought HK onyx studio 7. X3 was louder and good battery life. S7 not that loud but better sound and bass is way better. Battery is garbage, it's made for in house use.

The microphone is good, you can even hear it sounds as if the microphone is in an acoustic pit. please place the microphone in the sweet spot and then you will be able to hear exactly which system sounds like. Don’t forget, speakers play on the volume and acoustic design of the room. Room acoustics are half the quality and quantity of sound. IMHO JBL4 is better in all aspects.

They can't be serious... Or they don't need to be, Jbl fans are more like samsung fans with each generation, they got their reputation and the product will sell - imho Xtreme 4 is decent at best.
I definitely prefer it at maximum volume but otherwise, treable is a bit sizzling now although overall maby tuned slightly smoother from what I could hear, just too boosted. Bass seems to be more boosted at that 50-70hz region where there's already too much on the old one. Really disappointing, the worst thing is that they keep increasing the size each year for some reason...
They definitely improved on the 3. The treble lacked sizzle on the 3 and sounded grainy as well. But they are asking ridiculous amount.

Yes the battery backup is better and now the battery is replaceable may be that's the reason for its slightly larger size rather thenn that its overall the same thing
@@bisheswarsaha5605 i was underwhelmed with the charge 5 when i heard it in store. Even my much smaller anker soundcore boost had fuller bass at 50% volume. And also treble is harsh on charge 5 but anker was really smooth and defined.

I'm very pleased with the removable battery compartment. If the Xtreme 4 had better surround sound effects, it would be even better!

Sounds more clean, no any harshness. Completely balance, without distortions, and the bass still great even though it was only 55hz

The xtreme 4 is for sure a sound upgrade.
It can actually reach down to 40 hz, while the xtreme 3 stops at 50-55
