Is it just me or does JYP have so many hidden gems that people have yet to discover? I know it's been more than a year but not much people know about G.Soul yet and it's sad. He has a lot to offer and it's amazing to hear such a voice.

I think, yes. JYP will let him debut even if they are not in this condition right now, bcoz remember 9 years ago, he almost make his debut in US but been hold bcoz economic probs at that time, and aside from JYP, he himself were the one who decide to stay and learn and polish himself until he is really and surely ready to come out :)
Maybe because, he was once a shy boy, maybe he needs enough courage and experience to meet the world :)

He's not only expressing himself in the lyrics, but also the melody, the way he sang it, the groove, the falsetto..if you know about him a little more, make a research bout him, maybe then.. U can see, why the MV is not that fancy. Everythg in this.. Really tell us somethg man.. U can really feel it.. Every single words contain emotion
Honestly, it is so hard for me to keep on replying a song over and over again, especially unless if the song is really good.. And i keep watching and repeating this from 11pm until now, 5 am ( i live in Malaysia).. I just cant put myself to sleep.
There are somethg about this song that attract me and makes me want to know more bout the song, the album, about him..
If he aren't top chart in the Korea, i am gonna think they have somethg wrong with their ears or they just doesn't know how to acknowledge and appreciate a very soulful music.

Py Jun Agreed,a while ago when his teaser came up i did some research on him, because i've heard about him but knew nothing and i was surprised. I went back to listen to some of his covers and all. I really do love the simplicity of his style tbh. JYP needed an artist like this simple but perfect

True! San E was a great rapper and a great artist too bad JYPE couldn't handle well on advertising their artist.. like the advertising of the 1st album is great and then suddenly it loses it's touch.. but I was kinda great that San E & JYPE was in good terms :)

You need to research a little more before making such harsh statements, JYP didn't lock him down, G.Soul himself did, so he could focus on his own growth... and I think we can all agree that the results are worth it.
the reasoning behind me saying that dude was wrapped up was because i literally never heard of him at all until my friend jessica showed some of his stuff. for many of jyp's prospects we see some hint or glimmer of when they are going to debut or even just an inkling of what he is going to release next. it might of been his choice but literally he went ghost for 9 years and no one knew until that mini manifesto that jyp posted which my friends just pointed out to me as well as the young lady who posted the twitter post too. i come down on jyp because many of my favorite artist aka 15& and miss a get put on backburners a lot of the time and i dont hear from them for a while. that is why i said my comment. for fear that that is what he did to this awesome man we are finally hearing today. i stand corrected at jyp not being the culprit for this one but my overall comment still stands and will not be edited. i am just happy i finally get to hear this man sing his heart out.
Daphnee Nazon I think that maybe JYP didn't mention him because there was not a date set and it was pretty much on G.Soul's own decision to say "I'm ready"... I just don't think he is not appreciated or wasn't at one point... like, who creates a label for a guy he doesn't consider talented? Tho people say he's old, I think he's not that old and he can still have a steady, long and successful career, he has enough talent for it... I rather an artist overthinking about his music than making a rushed debut, cause let's face it, once they debut and become popular they don't have much time left to study or grow as an artist... but like you said, whatever it is, we finally get to listen to him and that's all that matters now.

So Studio J is the new company label under JYP which showcases free and deep artists and G.Soul would be the first artist under that sub-label...I hope Hatfelt, Bernard Park, Baek Ah Yeon and maybe 15& or Sunmi will also join Studio J...as much as I love JYP Nation, JYPE doesn't promote much of them and mainly focus on groups like 2PM, 2AM (?) Miss A, Got7 and possibly the upcoming groups like 5Live and 6Mix...
Jay Daniel yeah :) G.Soul has the potential to become big nationally as well as internationally but that all comes down to the company promoting...hatfelt had an awesome solo debut but nowhere near did it make it high on the charts :( so im hoping this new sub-label will mainly focus on the solo artists and help them get where they're supposed to be...the top! :)
Ritaaargh probably not only the company's fault. For us who likes these type of songs, maybe we thought that they need more attention from the company. But, not many of the koreans like these type of music, that's why the company focus more on the group. While the others, they just depend on the album sale internationally. If you watch other companies, they rarely held a concert for solo artist. It's very risky. So let's just hope that more people will support them so the company can do more things for them.

Now that I know JYPE is not just all kpop dancing idols but do invest in genuine artists that rely on their voices and abilities to make great music. Love it....

I keep reading comments like "he is so underrated", "JYPE should promote him more" or "JYPE really fuck him up he should get more recognition". Shut the f up. He does not want to be branded as an idol. He considers himself as an underground singer, an indie artist. He wants to keep a low profile and have minimal promotion and JYPE respected that. Thats the reason why hes under Studio J. He is a singer-songwriter who wants to be recognized for his music and not by his face, the company he belongs to, the artists he is friends with, the number of wins he has in music shows, or the number of appearance he has in variety shows.
Then... why is he in one of the biggest companies, if he truly wanted to be underground he would have gone to a small company I think.
+Brenda Ramirez Well, JYPE let him do what he wanted to do instead of forcing him to debut and make money for them at a young age. He might never find another company like that. J.Y. Park likes his artists to expand and make their own music instead of singing sonsg already written for them as he think this limits their artistic ability (i.e. He wrote and produced songs for Wonder Girls for 5 years but now has let them compose songs for themselves).
How has he been living then? Like in terms of living expenses. I mean, to debut at 27 is really late.. People normally start working in their early 20s! I'm just so curious.
He is part of JYP but it´s under Studio J, with Ahh Yeon, Day6, Jimmin Park, Bernard Park, Hat:felt and Jokwon. Studio J it's a subsidiary of JYP but they don´t promote kpop and idols. They promote Artist. Because of this, they are less famous, but they decide not to be idols.

He is called G.Soul (real name Kim Ji-hyun) and he has trained under JYP for 14/15 years...JYP was going to debut him in the US but then the Lehman Brothers scandal happened and then that plan was scrapped...JYP wanted to bring him back to Korea and debut him there but G.Soul wanted to stay in the US and learn about music and then here you are now listening to this perfection :) hope this helps!

WF & Cloud (Rain) here, so I'm familiar with G.Soul from way back...I would say it's more of gayo (kpop) coming full circle. The idol music heyday is between 2007 & 2012, but TV's Kpop Star clout have seized the momentum since & splintered the industry. Filling in the gaps are other genres, including by the likes of g.o.d & G.Soul whose influences are the R&B/soul that was popular in the first half of the 2000s. WG was also trained that way (see 2007 live performances), but Tell Me went viral & so they went with bubblegum...G.Soul had actually released Korean OST tracks in 2004 & 2006, but those were not under the JYP label so he's not deemed to have officially debuted. Ditto K-Will for JYPE btw...The 15-year training is also a bit overstated. JYPE never delisted him as trainee in company reports but his active apprenticeship lasted until around 2008 or so (when the financial crisis ruined the USA plans for him/J-Lim/Min). From 2009 onwards, there were anecdotes that he enrolled for college while moonlighting at gigs (WG used to attend his shows when they were free). He graduated around 2012 if correct. When he was studying, the JYP USA remained friendly but wasn't training him at all.
