  • Hello scrappers and planet lovers. In this video, I will show you all the free tin, copper, aluminum, and other metals that are found in a treadmill. I will show you how to safely and effectively identify and sort the metals in order to help you maximize your profit and divert as much of the material away from the landfill as possible.

    Thanks for all of the detail. I wish I had known about your site about five years ago when I was scrapping to buy groceries. It's apparent I left a lot of money on the table back then. Watching your videos makes me want to get back into scrapping, even if it's just to return to the Zen of deconstructing machines.

    FYI: aluminum heat-sink was 2.1lbs and #2 copper 5 oz.

    It would be nice to get $1.56/lb. for 40% appliance wire and $2 + for 60% appliance wire. Here in Edmonton , they lump it all together and give $.80/lb.

      Thanks for the comment. $0.80 is not great, but I guess better than nothing. One positive is there are some wires that are really small and at least you are getting the 80 cents. Some wire here is too small to put in these categories and would be mixed along with electronic wire.

    Great vid. So what do you think you get for 1 treadmill in total ?

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  ปีที่แล้ว

      $10 for the tin (frame) and a few dollars for the copper. So around $12-14 Cdn.

    How much did you get, in total, for scraping that treadmill? I am about to do the same but curious on value

    I have only done 2 so far, but I ❤ scrapping these treadmills.
    Even the wooden board is nice.
    Did you ever try getting these lovely big ferrite magnets out?

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I just throw it all in as tin. I use the magnets from magnetrons for around the shop though.

      @@TinManScrapper Yeah, those are super too, and easy to remove.
      I tried heating these stator magnets in the oven on 240°C, but to no avail.
      Next time I'll try with a propane torch.
      But too much heat will weaken the magnetic force..

    I'm guessing about $30 total from scrapping 1 of those treadmills.. ok. It's money... Very good.
