Ben - thank you so much for the shout out. I am truly humbled. You've taught me so much over the years and it was your encouragement that caused me to start this channel. As my way of saying thanks I'll commit to holding a give away when I hit 1,000 subscribers. The prize will be a half oz silver coin from the PERTH mint. One of the shark series of course.
Shark Scrapper, Good Morning from Allentown, Pa. E Waste Ben recommended your channel in one of his videos! I already started watching and I enjoy them.
I cant believe I just watched an hour and a half video of cutting ends off wire. The great part is... i have no regrets, it was very enjoyable. Love the videos, stay healthy and safe out there, best wishes from Canada!
I could watch this all day dude there's something satisfying watching someone process and I would be in heavan with your bins and types shears sorting and processing
I like to watch your videos while i play online games, i have 2 screens and have you on the one screen and my game on the other, i watch every one of your videos completely and have done for years, i just find it relaxing and interesting, you seem like a really genuine nice guy, thanks for your content!
I'm imagining a more purpose-built wire scrapping station for you, Ben. You're a pro and will be processing wire for many years to come. Spend some time up front creating a system to improve your work flow and save you tons of time AND motion later. Create a work bench high enough to put a shorter wheely bin or four beneath. a pedal operated shear on the right corner, blades scissoring away from you. Below the shear, off the right side of the bench is a gutter for the bits to fall in. Under the far end of the gutter is the gold recovery, under the closer end is the junky junk. Cleaned wire gets combed forward, off the table and down into a rolly bin. Your wire stripping machine could have a permanent home around the other side of the bench. You could start simply by just hose clamping those garden shears to the top edge of a bench, rig it all up with some board, chain, hinges, pulleys, etc. You'd want your shear to open back up automatically with a spring or counterweight. Extra points for getting the work station properly lit with some LEDs!
124,000 views, Ben. It is absolutely magnificent scrap-along-with-me fodder. No wonder you're the best. This is my third time watching this right through.
Keep the videos coming Ben! I watched the whole thing like I always do. I love having your videos playing while I’m doing my own scrapping - it’s like having a buddy in the shop with me chatting while we work.
I've started recently and concentrate getting copper wire in the small quantities available in the uk - I find most small electrical items don't even have copper wire now 😢
That moment when you always comment saying he talks about the same thing too much and realize it's the only time he really talks to anyone. My bad Ben, I've gotten to.really enjoy your videos
I'm so sad it came to an end. I'm one of those who doesn't switch off or fall asleep, just love your videos. Be careful picking up that scrap with this virus being able to live on plastics and metal for hours or even days. Take care, Poo
Thanks for this Ben - it gave me the motivation to start on the big pile of cables and boards I have waiting to process myself. With all the time we have on our hands at the moment this is a great way to be productive and get those time consuming tasks dealt with.
Yrs Ben. Don’t know how you think of things to say. But watching you reduce your stash to bare minimum is my favorite. Cutting cords, opening computers or set top boxes and sorting
Hi Ben, I’m watching this video and thought I’d take time to say stay safe and hope things are going well for you. It’s a mess here in the U.S. could last a few months. Andy from Allentown, Pa.
It's glorious weather here (unusually), and I've just spent an hour and a half indoors with the curtains closed, watching a man chop plugs off cables. Greetings from Yorkshire.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING RECYCLING WIRE FOR PRECIOUS METALS. SINCE FLORIDA IS NOW A "STAY AT HOME" , FINISHING QUITE A FEW TASKS; INCLUDING CUTTING CORD ENDS AND STRIPPING COPPER WIRE. THANKS AGAIN BEN.
invent something to cut them without using your hands... something to make your work easier. You are savage with wire processing... keep up the good work!
I kept coming back to this video over a period of a few days, watching it in stages. It was restful and a nice gentle pace compared to, say, your street-scrapping videos. Cables are my favourite things to process and I don't have any at the moment, so it was nice to share yours in the meantime :D :D Thanks for what you do, Ben.
I am just beginning to collect wires and phones and laptops sure interesting hobby to get in to I live in British Columbia Canada nice to watch your channel
Hi Ben good to see you again nice to have a chat with your subs you were not boring at all we are all still learning lots from you no matter what you are doing so keep safe and well and looking forward to next vid cheers
Hey Ben! COVID-19 locks-downs led me to your channel a few weeks ago; your ingot melting videos got me into scrapping. I just started an eWaste recycling program myself. Thanks for being an inspiration! Maybe you've posted one before, but if you had enough material from gold recovery, a video melting a gold ingot would be legendary!
holy shit! thats nightmare lev of cables! try wearing a glove while doing the snipping! wish i could help! this uk lockdown is soooooooooo boring! you help us all stay sane 😊 ben, its good to talk... you need something to stop you going crazy doing repetative stuff like this... we are all mates and appreciate your company even if it is over youtube! its like going to the pub with your mates (or a sports event etc), company and the knowledge that folks are out here still for you 😊
I mow lawns for a living along with some scrap life! Grass still needs to be mowed and scrap still needs to be picked up! These are essential businesses!!
mowing lawns is a foot in the door, offering to take away old electronics for free is a bonus for client and you, everyone has an old tv or something electrical to get rid of.
👍stayed awake till the end I wanted to watch you put yourself through what I’ve been doing the last few days,we think alike on the virus situation.ive been in lockdown for weeks but on the plus side I now get four weeks to the gallon on fuel👍
So much copper wire ♻️💵 thanks for the vid. Im a newbie scrapper do it just for fun only got one wheelie bin and a few tubs for my wire, my eyes lit up seeing all that cord keep scrapping 👍cheers🍻
You may find it boring and tedious cutting all the wires but it is by far my favorite, nice and repetitive. And it's always a bonus watching the bin get emptier and emptier.
I would recommend some tin snips, im not sure what they are called in australia but i got this really nice pair that are really comfortable for my hand and will cut anything, everyone says they get dull really quickly but if you get a decently nice pair they will last you forever, ive cut lots of thick cords with it and i also just snip off brass from plugs and my hand never gets tired, would definetly recommend for that volume of cords
Yeah we have tin snips, I use them for cutting my wires, a decent pair with the little serrations are awesome, good spring so better on the hand fatigue.
loved watching your vid and hear you talking ben as i have started doing my cables to day as we are on lock down here in uk but i am not as fast as you ben you are like a machine chilled me out ben watched right to the end and shared keep up the good work more vids and keep safe loved the chickens cheers mate
Yer we are on lock down here in the UK nearly every scrap yard has closed and price of scrap has dropped like most places.so just stock piling working from the work shop watching your videos like I've done for long time lol.im going more ewaste and non ferrous now leaving the iron alone.enjoy your vids keep them up keep us going take care
Maybe you could devise a machine to grind the brass out of the plugs? 1:15:18 Doing alright! lol. For the 3rd half of us, chord food is the most satisfying aspect of the job :) On a side note, pay attention to how people say 'alright' around the world. Here in Fort Wayne, Indiana, alright has devolved to a quick guttural grunt akin to 'aw ite'.
@@waterup380 Well, there are custom power tools for almost every process if you're willing to invest, but it's more satisfying to craft your way around with your own scrap bits and pieces. Hand cutting seems a bit Sisyphean to me due to the slow progress and also time consuming.
Yes I know I been doing that stuff all my life My dad did it before I was born so I know. Plus watching some people doing scrap on TH-cam I kinda already know how much there are going to make before they even hit the scrap yard. So in a Down time like this if the scrap yard is closed why not take the time to clean your copper and brass stainless steel and aluminum because you will make more money even if the price is low has it is still.
Ah, Ben gettin' to the wheels bins, Nice. Steel in Illinoisnorthern part is paying 65 per ton or 3.25 per lb for the light weight, 85 per ton or 4.25 for heavy steel.
Thanks Ben for putting out a video. When it comes to scrap I don't care what you do I will watch. Keep doing things your way cause that's what I like. However, I'm a domestic chooks lover. Please, can you do a, or combine a video, with a sit down chat/hand feeding of the chooks? Please. Thanks for sharing and I'm switching over to the Shark Scrapper now. 👍👍
Another great video not boring at all think when I got the tub below half I would have tipped it on the floor bending over would slow me down, keep em coming Ben great watch during this long isolation period
M8 cheers on your efforts M8 . Have you thought about using your left hand to cut the ends ? I scrap metal , and I learned to use both hands to make it easier on me. Keep up the good work, God bless y'all.
Hi Ben. Great video, always enjoy the processing ones as much as the street scrap and collections! Bit of advice about Corona (not the beer!). If you get the chance, post lockdown (i.e. now) to collect stuff, do it. Leave the scrapping for the weeks ahead that are coming for the lockdown period when you can't go anywhere. I know it may cause a space issue, but it will keep you busy! Take care and keep safe!
I use tin snips to cut the plugs off a lot of my wires. They will cut about any wire with ease and most are spring loaded so they are a lot easier on your hands/wrists.
Hey Ben, I hope you are well.. I do exactly the same way how you do it, and I know what you mean about how hard it is on the hands and fingers.. I recommend Bacho side cutters that spring back after each cut.
With my lockdown, it gave me a chance to finish processing all the appliances in my garage, and the guy who pays me to do that had time to get his storage area sorted out so he's been able to come get it all on a regular basis so my work space isn't clutted up with the motors and everything
Hi Ben! 28:44 That was optic fiber there is no copper inside of this cable.Scrap yards will be mad if they see lots of this staff. And why you dont keep the telephone wire whit the cat five and six?
Ben nothing certain in scrapping from the prices, the sources , quantity etc as you know and discussed with us. iv found when iv had little and down to my last dollar God will out of nowhere always provide for me , often through scrap .Good for you to share ur knowledge. when you get to a certain level in the bins, I recommend you dump the rest on the bench. Otherwise, you'll be bending over WAY too much with all you've got to go thru. Save yer back!

Ben, on my second go around on the marathons!!! I love them. As I have learned, things have become sooo much more interesting. Thanks
An hour&thirty well spent in lockdown here in Wales. Cheers Ben
watching you sort everything and process everything is very satisfying

I've started recently and concentrate getting copper wire in the small quantities available in the uk - I find most small electrical items don't even have copper wire now 😢

That moment when you always comment saying he talks about the same thing too much and realize it's the only time he really talks to anyone. My bad Ben, I've gotten to.really enjoy your videos
These videos inspired me to start looking for cables in hard waste. I really enjoy it and have found some cool items

Totally enjoyed this video.Look forward to the next one.

Alabama here, we say it the same as y'all. To pull the brass plugs, a good small bench vice and a pair of channel lock pliers works really well
Why not build some sort of workbench guillotine for the wires to cut a handfull at once and sorting bins attached for the ends.
They do make machines for that kind of work. It's a wire stripper it's called that has a motor. You can find TH-cam videos on it

Yes some automation could cut the time immensely as well as save the hands.
That'd be great for him. His hand is not going to like doing this kind of work for much longer.
I took me 3.5 days to trim 10lbs of sim cards! Did that during quarantine started picking up old Electronics as well!
Always nice to see what your up to. Wish I had a pile of wire. Stuck inside nothing else to do!

Love watching you do all your scrapping 👍😎
With each cut or pulling of wire... You know where every dollar is coming from. Being the master to your own destiny is the ultimate in freedom.
“Garden shears the cheaper the better” ewaste Ben great saying
Thanks Ben for putting out a video. When it comes to scrap I don't care what you do I will watch. Keep doing things your way cause that's what I like. However, I'm a domestic chooks lover. Hi ben i do a little scrapping here in fla. Enjoyed your vidio stay safe.
Hi I am new to your channel I find it very interesting .and I'm watching your old videos
I'm a longtime viewer and seen all of Ben's videos and I regularly rewatch the old ones. I always laugh when he mixes up microwaves with vacuums!!
have you seen the automatic wire strippers that separate the insulation from the wire you can just feed any size into like the nitech machine
Does anyone else find this type of video oddly satisfying
Ben's Bin chat. very enjoyable.
You should do more videos like this where your just processing and talking. Love your vids.
great instructive scrap wires video, a good challenge !!!
You should do more of these scrap sessions during the lock down
Another great video not boring at all think when I got the tub below half I would have tipped it on the floor bending over would slow me down, keep em coming Ben great watch during this long isolation period
Love the new vid.
Those pins on that Cisco plug are almost as good as the gold pins on the board that I txted to you. 😉
M8 cheers on your efforts M8 . Have you thought about using your left hand to cut the ends ?
I scrap metal , and I learned to use both hands to make it easier on me. Keep up the good work, God bless y'all.
Hey Ben, I just put the phone cord ends, cat 5 ends and plugs like that into ap and it comes right out. You should save them. Cheers from Montana.

I love the sounds of your chickens talking in the background.
Nice hoard of cords!!!! I have been playing catch up in my garage also!!!!

Hey Ben.
I use gardening bypass secateurs to cut my insulated wire. It's a lot better than side cutters.
Cheers from Bondi Scrapper
Mine are Felco. Heaps better than the ones you have
I don't know what it is about the cords, but I just love it 😂❤️
Thanks Ben, the video is now finished and my six pack beer too. xD
I love it!
More cord cutters please
back ground noise man. thnx for that . scraping RAM flaiks .. by your method :D thnx for that too .allmost 1 in the morning here in italy
Try to boil the brass plugs and while there still hot the brass can be puled out with little effort
Would love to see you go though that gold recovery bin
Hi Ben! 28:44 That was optic fiber there is no copper inside of this cable.Scrap yards will be mad if they see lots of this staff. And why you dont keep the telephone wire whit the cat five and six?

Great video my friend.....watched the whole video while i stripped some wire
Thanks Ben just subscribed to shark scrapper your still number one great video on cords
Great Video Ben Keep Bringing The Videos Dude Pray For Us Here In United States God Bless The World.👍👍
when you get to a certain level in the bins, I recommend you dump the rest on the bench. Otherwise, you'll be bending over WAY too much with all you've got to go thru. Save yer back!
I was thinking he should just tip it over into a pile on the floor when he was sat down
Ben, you have to try sheet metal scissors for the cabel plugs and for cable wire as whole. When you try it u will love it :)
I'm not a scrapper i tune cars watching this youre vid is relaxing
I am sitting in my scrap shack taking apart switches for silver contacts.
No not asleep. thanks again for sharing....
