    A good friend gave me a Ford 8N this morning. I came for the tractor knowledge and about lost it when your daughter was singing and you spoke. My little girl is 7 and I'm teaching her to be a light to this world. I see you are doing the same. Be encouraged!

    That drag is a great invention. Thank you. I will make one of these. I think it would work great for leveling out soil after tilling for regrading & adding swales.

    Oh man! The carefree songs of your little girl will get you every time. Does me.
    I’ve got the same old Ford, (not running right now though) but she’s sweet.
    We must continue to pray for our government and those in authority.
    God bless America!!
    Live the dream my friend. You have blessed and wonderful family.

    Great video Luke! Have 4-daughters myself and seeing your daughter singing on the tractor got my a bit misty-eyed, nice job! Your “scoop” is actually an old ferguson “transport” box. Pretty rare one neat item, had one myself I had restored and sold. Now back to working on my 1949 8N!

    God is Good.
    Yep!
    I had tears with you when your daughter was singing our National Anthem.
    And I’m an Aussie, but I too love this country, but most of all I love this people.
    People like you..... and the Mighty 9n Ford Tractor.
    Can kill it, but with a minimum of love, it will do the Job.

    Gotta love those old Fords. I am a 52 model myself. So that one would be awesome to have for myself. We were born at the same time. But wait, I was born again in 2002. Yeah, it took me a few years to see the Light. But at least now I am saved.

    TBH, I was starting to think you were a bit of a goof and I was wondering how well that hat would keep the sun from beating down on my bald spot.
    But you redeemed yourself at 14:18. Such a show of genuine pride.

    I normally wouldn't sit through this one but hubby is a mechanic (diesel) but he can fix pretty much any equipment. He wanted to watch to the end. He will only store equipment with non ethanol. Anywho, Happy I watched until the end to hear the musical bonus and testimony..Good things come to those who wait. Thank you

    Easiest way to check for a stuck float is to open the float bowl drain on the carb,
    Which isn't a bad thing to do from time to time any way, if the float isn't stuck you could drain your whole tank here, if it's stuck it won't drain long and stop.
    If it stops wack the carb body with your plastic screw driver handle, wack it a couple times even, often that wack will pop it loose and and your done.
    I've got a 50 on 12 volt , a sweet old tractor.

    Hi, I have been using a maintenance dose of Seafoam and maintenance dose of Stabil in my occasionally used equipment. I mix it in when I buy the gas in 5 gallon cans. Stuff can be parked for a couple months and starts like you just shut it off. Just looked up the passage. I don't remember the citations, I guess I need to start trying, but the verse is one of my top 100 favorites. Thank you for all.

    That Marvel Schebler carb is a TSX 241c. The last of the series. The 2 52 is the month and year made/installed. Almost bullet proof carbs and HIGHLY regarded with 'restorers' like myself. I can get twice as much for a 'c' on e-Bay than I can for an 'a' or a 'b'. (Actually, there's no 'a' designation. We just call the originals that.) The 'B's came with an aluminum model tag under an outside topcover screw. I believe that the TSX 241c was the first model of M/S carbs to feature stamped #'s on a Brass tag. The earlier 9N/2N TSX 33's were stamped in the same place directly into the cast iron. Now,... I've only been restoring these tractors for 19 of the 81 years that they were made so I will gracefully accept differing opinions. God Bless....~Eli.

    NEVER take a carb apart over dirt. Always do it over a bench so you dont loose parts or accidentally drop the carb in the dirt. Brush the carb down with a wire brush then use the carb cleaner itll save on the carb cleaner. You want the cleanest carb possible when complete. Also feel free to clean your tractor every now and then. A clean tractor is a happy tractor.

    Hello Luke, a farmer near me was selling a MF 35 gasoline in working order. So many farmers are retiring and their kids are working office jobs. I'm a little reluctant to buy it but after watching you work on your 8N it seems like the gasoline tractors are little more forgiving of newbies. You have both, diesel and gas, do you have a preference or warnings for a first time buyer?

    Mr. Simons, I been thinking of getting a ford and using it for cutting ditches, as it appears like it'd be tough to tip it. Has that been your experience with yours? Also do you struggle coming by parts for them? Love the videos!

    • @BacktotheBasics101
      @BacktotheBasics101  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      She’s a pretty handy machine for cutting ditches. Parts are very easy to fine for these old girls.
      If you have a choice get the 8N it has four speeds versus the 2N and the 9N only has three speed’s.

    I do it professionally lol the cheap carb cleaner works better ! A tip you might already know a hard tap on the carb base with a hammer will un stick the needle valve if its not glaumed up too bad . I try not to worry about politics but things have gotten so crazy I'm scared FOR my country and Luke what happens when people completely forget God's ways ? I pray daily for America

    I mean no disrespect by this question, Mr. Simons. When you were singing the Star Spangled Banner, I heard you say “hope of the brave”. Was that just a situation of lack of connectivity between the brain and vocal cords 😉, or is that a different version? I mean this as a legitimate question.

    Rubber fuel line is not a good idea on an 8N.

    • @BacktotheBasics101
      @BacktotheBasics101  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why is that sir?

    • @Kookamungawerewolf
      @Kookamungawerewolf 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way the fuel line is routed on an 8n, it is between the gas tank and the hot cylinder head and then is routed next to the hot exhaust manifold. It is much safer to have one piece steel line from the fuel bowl to the carburetor. If that hose fails and sprays gas on the hot manifold and ignites, you have a fire right beneath the gas tank. I enjoyed your video, I have a ‘49 8n that hasn’t been run in 16 years that I am trying to bring back to life.
