Miura's death was the biggest wake up call for me to never take people for granted. Before i thought he would always be there, pushing out chapters every once in a while. I thought the same about many people close to me that i've removed myself from for selfish reasons and because i felt insecure. Now everytime i think of Miura and Berserk, i will always remind myself that people wont always wait for me until i'm ready, i need to spend as much time with them as possible, starting now. Same goes with life goals. I thought i could afford to waste time since im young and full of potential but both are fleeting things, as is time.
Rest in peace, Kentaro Miura. Thank you for being there when i needed you the most and sorry for taking you for granted

I love what you said at the end, at least we saw Casca restored and that her and Guts were there together for a moment to see each other. Even if it wasn't the fairy tale reunion most of us wanted, the fact that Guts' purpose of bringing her back was fulfilled after 20 years is something to cherish. There's so much to reflect upon with Miura's death, and this is just one tiny pearl in the ocean of ideas and story elements to consider. His impact on my life in the real world and the lives of so many others is another aspect entirely. What an amazing legacy with millions of threads touching the lives of humanity over the last four decades.

Rest In Peace Miura, your works will never be forgotten and your legacy will seed itself into the fabric of the universe for all eternity, I pray whatever deity or deities you worshipped smile upon you and listen to the tales and stories you regale them with. He died doing what he loved, and I think he was happy about that, maybe not satisfied he didn’t get to see the end of his life’s work, or say something he should have said in his personal life, but I think he died a happy man nonetheless, painting his masterpiece with unmatched strokes and writings a perfect story. Thank you Miura, we will miss you. I will miss you.

Guts’s thoughts while leaving the Band really helped me cope with Miura’s death.
“You're going to be all right. You just stumbled over a stone in the road. It means nothing. Your goal lies far beyond this.” Miura would want us to move on with our lives, and not despair. Guts’s journey is about overcoming grief, we can do that too.

As much as it pains me to know that the man responsible for all of that is now gone, I'm comforted in knowing that the soul of his work will live on in all of us who took something special away from it. Thank you Miura for helping me in ways I can't articulate or even fully comprehend. May your soul find peace.

It's clearly not how it was intended, but for what it's worth, it's a bit cathartic to see the very final panel of Berserk released by Miura in his life as Guts looking to his love and then seeing their kid before him. Almost as if the 3 of them could find a way to put everything behind them and live together on Elfhelm. Of course we know that it probably wasn't going to go this way, and who knows what comes next for Berserk, but it's a soft comfort if nothing else. RIP Miura

Well, I do take comfort in imagining that the group stayed in Elfheim for ever. Their sadness, rage, trauma, hate and pain eroding slowly but surely, healing together and finding happiness in each other. As the world outside goes to shit in a handbasket, Guts, Casca and the rest lead a peaceful life, finding joy in the little things and finally letting go. Because that was what Berserk had always been for me - it made me realise that holding on to certain thoughts and experiences is the worst kind of poison. It also made learn to let go. Not the ending I wanted and a bit anticlimatic, but that's life for ya. It is the ending I think it deserved. Anyway, I am rambling. Stellar stuff, as always.

I was reading through Sugimoto's tweets (Assistant) and I saw this dated Sept 2020; 'The Berserk manuscript is currently being written by the teacher himself, so we assistants are doing something else. There are many difficulties, but I hope that one day it will be the time to catch the sun.'

This hits hard. :( For most my adult life I've been a fan, started with the ova then the manga, even got a tattoo. Every year on my birthday I would buy the latest Manga (if any had came out). Now that's done with. Thank you Miura, You got me through some hard times. And the to your channel, even though I just found you, content found here is what keeps something so good alive: "You only live as long as the last person remembers you"

I woke up about 24 hours ago after awaking from a nap. I read the comments on the TH-cam video I last had up and a commenter wrote, "RIP Kentaro Miura. After confirming it, it was disbelief. I immediately texted my brother as well.
I got into Berserk late last year, as my brother has been a long time reader and a friend of mine suggested it, finally getting me into it. I really grew to love its storytelling and themes. Started with the 97 anime, read a little of the manga, and got obsessed with watching analysis videos about it. That's how I found you, AlexEnterprises.
It's gutting how this man, who I knew mostly nothing about, who was living a private life on the other side of the world, can leave such an impact in his loss. I was hoping there'd be a real, authentically true anime adaptation that had the spirit of the 97 anime yet brought it up to the current chapters would be made. Maybe it can still happen. But that's not the issue at hand.
Rest in power, Kentaro Miura. Your art will live on forever, and thus, you will, too.
Remember to survive and keep struggling, everyone.

I’m very optimistic about the story being continued, and maintaining its quality. As far as I’ve seen, people largely support his assistants in continuing the story, and from my understanding he trained them very well. I think we will see a story and ending Miura would be proud of, and I believe his assistants have the capability and determination to see it through. RIP to a master in his craft. Not everyone can claim such a prestigious title.

Lurker here. I started Berserk about twelve years ago when I started in college, and I don't know if any other piece of fiction has resonated with me so deeply. Revisiting it again on rereads, and again through the lens of this channel, has solidified that appreciation and tied the work near and dear to my heart.
Alex, thank you for your thoughtful videos exploring the themes and art of this masterpiece. It is an absolute pleasure to engage with your ideas and insight knowing that they come from genuine love and respect for Miura's work. Should his assistants undertake the seemingly impossible task of carrying this work forward, in tribute, I'll be just as excited to hear your thoughts on where things go.
Kentaro Miura--thank you for everything. We'll walk again, soon.

Now it makes sense all of the other work he did with his team instead of working in berserk, because he knew he wouldn't have enough time but he believed that the people who wanted to follow his steps, would be prepared to continue his work if the unbelievable happened to him. No one can replace an artist but someone must finish what started to show the world what could have been in better days.

But, I want to say, it's entirely possible that his assistant/s could do just as good of a job, maybe even better, than Miura with the future of Berserk. It may be different, it may even be worse, but we should be open to it. I imagine it's what Miura would want.

You know, I never knew how it felt to lose someone important to you. This wasn’t the loss of a family member or close friend, but an inspiration to the creative world. When I was around 9-10, we lost some of the most profound and prolific directors in the industry, Osamu Dezaki and Satoshi Kon. Learning about them just a few years ago and watching most of their handiwork made a tiny section of my heart miss them, but I think it would have been more impactful had I been older around the time of their death. We lost Beck’s Director Osamu Kobayashi on April 6 of this year and now a month later, we lose Kentaro Miura... when I first saw someone posting about it, I thought it was another tasteless joke, but after seeing the official tweet, my heart dropped 10 miles. I’ve been depressed ever since and have barely any energy to do anything. I loved this legend. Please rest in peace.
P.N. I was dreading such a passionate person like you hearing the news... I can’t imagine how you felt and still feel, ugh. We’ll live through it and his legacy will live on.
