From all I know, this was part of WED Enterprise's research into children's resp0nse to the Figment hand puppet. Disney had set the look for the AA Figment in the JII ride-thru, and wanted us to stroll outside in the Picture-Taking Garden, but wanted to see how small children would react to the puppet, which they believed would be handled by a ventriloquist while interacting with the Guests; in other words, they thought he would talk. There was also the issue that you couldn't fit a puppeteer's arm in the AA figure as it existed and so Figment would need to be redesigned. (Note how Mickey's design and proportions have changed radically several times over decades, but we always recognize him as the same guy, whether it's Steamboat Willie or Talking Mickey on Main Street!) However, the voice was too much to handle coming from the puppet. Notice the kids are a little put off by it; high and loud and annoying. The character design, though rounder and friendlier, is still pretty pointy and manic (a rather "un-Disney" design actually; which I think accounts for his popularity with the older demographic!). So, as it was explained to me by Tony Baxter when I was hired, this led to the WED Team's decision that the strolling Figment would remain silent, in order to avoid frightening the kids.
@@ekpgaming7600 You know with new technology maybe they can do something like taking elements of this disney.wikia.com/wiki/Disney_Characters%27_Articulated_Heads and incorporate them into it with if some of the guests are ticked of Figment would say that he may better be silent right now and if the guests says no he will continue and he says he hopes he won't mind his voice if yes he says OK I understand and goes silent until the end when he apologies for what happened and said goodbye. I think it's a good idea but let me know what you three think about it OK good.
Tristen Argonian Thing is though, this isn’t his original voice either. In the original ride, he was voiced by Billy Barty. Here, it’s someone else entirely.

I think this is the same one they used to voice figment in the "Dreamfinder Run" promo that was supposed to play in the Magic Eye Theatre at opening, As the ride was far from finished and it was assumed Magic Journeys wasn't ready by the time epcot opened, but then didn't as some last minute crunching allowed the film to be ready in time.
What was this for originally? The title suggests it's a screen test but for what exactly? Was this made for a possible unmade tv show starring Figment?
