The good old Leyland, Most of us old timers will have driven a Leyland at some time, I drove a Leyland Marethan with the bigger export cab powered by 250 Commins, and at 32tons it was ok.
One thing I regret is not buying a camera all those years back, sadly sometimes now 2+2 makes 5, But this is where your great videos come into play . Thank you.
Thank you 😊 🙏 Trevor injoy the channel my friend 😀
hi there,as an ex AEC employee i have to say we built the Marathon at southall until we closed in may79, we could not put AEC on the front grille because leyland would not allow, the 8x4 with motor panels cab was made by Scammell Motors at Watford during the80s again most had leyland on the front although a few had Scammell across the front.happy days at AEC !
👍
Thank you Peter 😊 🙏 for sharing info to us all
Thanks for doing marathon I spent more time broke down lol😂 tl 12 she did fly though😂😂😂
@austinlloyd9757, you're welcome. I'm glad 😊 😃 😀 you enjoyed watching.
I heard you did about 2 4 miles in a marathon before it broke down so you were really doing a marathon 😂😂
The Octopus..'"""Mouth Organ""...circa 1954....Best looker ever....Cleeve Hill Transport .Chetenham Spa ..VAD 564...sided...VAD 563 .flat...Wonderful days sat on the bonnet .Changing gear and my Dad Doubldeclutched!!!
Still plenty of Leyland trucks being built in Leyland, they just have DAF on the front these days
Remember driving an Octopus, Reiver and Marathon.
Drove the marathon or as it was known the corned beef tin had the roadtrain for 2 years all steel cab freezing in winter but great bit of kit 250 Cummins and the spicer trampped all over on general great days
Good old days, when my Dad was Sheets and Rope, Handle ball every load
A lost skill today.
Another great vid! Thanks for uploading.
You're welcome, my friend 🧡 glad you 😉 enjoyed watching.
What happened to these trucks name on our British roads.
Couldn't keep up with the swedes
The leyland T45 was such a smart looking truck.. ive always wondered what they would of looked like if they weren't killed off by the 95 ..
Yes, they were a nice looking 👌 in their time.
Great !! I remember going out with my Dad back in the late 50's in his BRS Leyland Octopus. I ended up on the BRS Mitcheldean with a Beaver artic, later at Ross depot, a Comet. carrying car body parts up to the Midlands they had Scammel couplings, not 5th wheel. when BRS closed down I had a night trunk job in Monmouth where we had Buffalo's and Marathons. (Foden S80's and Volvo F10's too.)
Thank you 😊 🙏 for sharing your memories with us all.

There is The Most Wonderful Black Interstate(r).on the show circuit...Must be seen to be believed..Mayne was Taylors of Bristol.?????on container transport???.A Marvellous Restoration......
Whats with the "Shit Kicking Music" it cheapens up what is already a cheap video. Leyland trucks should have been the world leaders in Trucks. Served my time as a Mechanic on them, I loved them. Typical English mentality, No investments shareholders creamed off the profits. I well remember the first Scania & Volvos (that were traded in against leyland) Antiquated old crap they were. Soon shut us up tho hey. so so sad.
Everybody's entitled there own opinion.thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories with us.
Leyland Lynx what a truck .❤

Oh...Buy the DVD ""The Long Haul""".Victor Mature and Diana Dors !!!Oh and a Leyland is The Star...I believe she was a works lorry(The Leyland not Diana)....Magic films .Only watched it 50000000 times...
A class film well worth watching 👀 👌
Served my time on Clydesdales and Reivers, easy to work on and simple.
Thank you, Andy
Peter smith..I delivered and installed big honing machines for the V8 mandator engine blocks. Oh of course "Millwrights ""helped me ...Union demarcation days....Wonderful proper canteen at A.E.C.Windmill Lane ...W.Y.B.....shortly after I deinstalled same honing machinery and resited it at Leyland(Spurrier Works)....Happy Super Days).......
Thank you, Douglas, for sharing your memories ❤️ 😊 🙏

“Leyland G series, Clydesdales” probably the best looking cab Leyland made, in my opinion. So nice to see a Milk Tanker featured, been waiting for ages for one to pop up. 🤘😎👌m-E-m
