This is to the Ringbrothers, that car is amazing. Also I thought that something going wrong was so cool because it showed a part of what it takes to design a real ground up build!! Again I am glad Jay and you two brothers kept it authentic and didn't cut the problem solving part out, sometimes those are more fun then driving the actual car. Great job guys!!!!!

That's so funny when they are talking about Ford and Chevy guys. I grew up a die hard GM fan, my dad is a GM fan, my uncle is a GM fan, and now it's 20 years later and someone was talking to me about how cool their Ford was the other day and I had an unreasonable reaction to it, haha. I kept thinking, "I'm an adult, where did that gut reaction come from." The rivalry runs deep, it really does. Now, all that being said, glad the Ford guys are out there!
So glad they decided to include that footage of the noise problem. Actually made me love the car and guys even more as is shows that even when you have guys that build cars for SEMA they can still have silly little problems that you'd get building a car on your drive. I'd love it if any future custom car builders could explain a few more of the troubles they had along the way as it really adds to the story
I live in Tucson AZ and at a car show some time ago I viewed a little white 65 Mustang coupe tucked away in the corner of the show. Some old guy sitting next to it. It was not a show car by any strech but everything looked like it was there. Well everything was there except the engine and trans. Pop the hood and there tucked neatly in place was an LS engine from the Corvette complete with the Corvette Covers. The funny thing is the guy even kept the skinny oringinal size tires! Turnes out the Chevy motor fits in there almost better than the little 289. So the guy had a "stock" Corvette Engine and manual trans in a stock Mustang. but now the Mustang was a 400 hp tire ripper!
+Ken J .....my '68 (which is bigger...I know, I know) has a 408 Windsor making 520 hp (with a single 4 barrel) which fits perfectly and destroys D.O.T. street drag race tires.
I would love to work with the Ringbrothers. They bring so much detail into their builds that from every angle there's something new to see and that's what I've been trying to do with cars I designed since I was 13. I want you to notice something from every angle. I've seen this video at least 5 times and other editorials and videos on this exact car and have just now realized the roof is covered in a matte clear versus the rest of the car. It's an element so simple in today's custom car world of black roofs it goes un noticed and blends in very well.
I’m really sad on how the 289-302 roller engine has been fading away do to the LS. The Roller 302 is such a bulletproof engine and it’s also compact that it’s a shame that it’s no longer used as much.
I've always loved the small block fords. Throttle response is so snappy. And just go and go no matter the abuse. My oldest brother had a 71 mach 1. Although was not a factory boss 302 it was when he got done with it. Never dyno'd it, but he did carry a fire extinguisher to put tires out after his burnouts😂😂😂
Unfortunately in 1979 or so he was a t a stop sign and a drunk smashed him from behind and totaled the car. Was sky blue with centerline's. He still has back pain from that accident.
Still a lot of Windsor folks out here. And the aftermarket really reflects it. The amount of after market parts you can get to build Serious power from a sbf Windsor these days is crazy. Problem with the 8.2" deck height Windsor (260, 289, and 302) is at about 500hp you're pretty much guaranteed to split the block in half. So you see more and more going to the 9.5" deck height Windsor (351) and the aftermarket blocks. I've heard stock block 9.5" is good for 700hp or so. A nice Dart brand 8.2" can get stroked out to 363ci and easily take 1500+hp. Is the Windsor as popular as the LS? No way. Do I feel like the Windsor is actually starting to get more popular than the small block Chevy (305,350)? Yeah... I kinda think it is.
The owner HAS big money obviously and he intends to drive the car.. I don't he cares if Jay touches it. I get your point though.. I had the same thought. @@MJKircher1221 the only reason there used is price, the coyote is just as capable of the power and with more revs and tech but are about 5 times the price to get one
I always loved this vid and Jay's reaction to the Chevy engine being in a Mustang. The funny thing is, that's what I'd want my dream car setup to be. 1969 "Boss 302" Mustang with an LS3.
Adventures in “Car Building” . . . I love your Show. It’s really visceral, nothing pretentious. And from the rear you can really see how much wider it is compared to a ‘65 Mustang. It has a Pontiac stance with the feeling of a “Shaker” hood. As the scoop is fake it also takes on the ‘65 - ‘66 GTO. This is a true “Frankenstang”.
Jay - you're a class act, and in a time when any joke is jumping all over, you remind us, people, we just have gotten too up-tight about everything, lighten it up and life is way more fun.
+Larry Smith Foose is right for putting a nice engine in the Stang. This car WAS nice until they put a Chevy engine. A Ferrari would be less of an insult.
Man are you ever rite I had a new 65 mustang fast back red in color and it had a 390 two 4's it would break lose all the time.Kinda telling my age here Ha.....
+GT7786 What "mustang"??? The only thing left of the original car is the glass I believe. It just goes to show that nowadays, it's hard to beat an LS package. Ya hear the same reasons from every engine builder, it fits in smaller spaces with less fuss, cost effective, you can get more power per cost, runs like a bat out of hell, and can take a real beating. What's NOT to like?
+GT7786 I see you're point but the man who they built this for had his reasons and that's enough reason for me to say that he prefers an ls engine over a coyote or a larger ford v8. It all comes down to personal preference, as someone's comment below this one said "it's basically not a ford anymore"
+Paul Rodriguez Yep... Only Jay would get away with driving like that right in front of a cop. Copper probably saw the camera truck and knew not to bother.
+Alvin Brinson Jay pays off duty cops to provide rolling roadblocks on his test rides. They get caught on camera now and again. You usually see them on Mulholland. Also, Jay donates free stand up time to police charity events. He'll never get a ticket in this state.
+Alvin Brinson If you're talking about that SUV cop pulling him over on Mulholland, I think that was just a comedy piece he set up. I love all his burnouts near his shop too. That's not even a ticket in California, it's a misdemeanor "exhibition of speed". No arrests there either. Must be fun to be his neighbor over there.
Damn Jay I hope u appreciate the opportunities ur life provides. And I’m glad I have the opportunity to vicariously experience a little of the feeling the cars must give you. Thanks for providing the video.

+Peter Timowreef it's very similar but its not an exact copy. go to their website and compare it to a gtr logo and you'll see some slight differences
my exact thoughts.. looks like the old gtr logo
+Peter Timowreef yup i agree, and even if they "modified" the logo so its not exactly the same, we all know it is.
I love Ford, but accept the Chevy engine. Sadly I know all these guys saying "just accept it" to the guys that are against it would flip out if it was a Chevy with a Ford motor in it.
Nobody ever wants to downgrade, they upgrade. That's why Chevy motors stay in Chevy vehicles and are installed in Ford vehicles as well.
Matthew shots fired lol
@@MJKircher1221 the only reason there used is price, the coyote is just as capable of the power and with more revs and tech but are about 5 times the price to get one
I always loved this vid and Jay's reaction to the Chevy engine being in a Mustang. The funny thing is, that's what I'd want my dream car setup to be. 1969 "Boss 302" Mustang with an LS3.
One of the best llooking 1965 out there
Adventures in “Car Building” . .
I have no idea if I love or hate this car.
10:23 Jay's a savage
10:15
Anyone notice the cop car next to them at 22:56?
Yep.
+dapsapsrp in Australia if you floored the pedal anywhere near a cop they'd pull you over and find anything they can on you.
i am pretty sure they knew Jay was driving, he never gets pulled over
eh, there's been a few vids he posted where he got pulled over. maybe it was staged, not sure. even if it was real I'm sure they let him off. ;)
Definitely staged. If he really got pulled over, chances are they'd scrap that clip and/or do another take.
The body just looks perfect and the engine sounds perfect too lol
I like the way it is.
Jay - you're a class act, and in a time when any joke is jumping all over, you remind us, people, we just have gotten too up-tight about everything, lighten it up and life is way more fun.
that is a badass stang and im way ok with the bowtie under the hood. well done cheers
+Jeremiah R. Probably because they have a deal with GM.
+Jeremiah R.
Figment: the coyote is significantly wider than an LS engine
Foose just fit a Coyote into a '65 Mustang in the second to last Overhaulin' episode.
+Larry Smith Foose is right for putting a nice engine in the Stang. This car WAS nice until they put a Chevy engine. A Ferrari would be less of an insult.
+Chris Daigle It would be an insult to Enzo Ferrari to pit one of he's engines in a yank-tank
A chevy engine...
It only costs a little more to go FIRST CLASS Ring brothers!!
Yep, not a true Mustang. It would have ran into those parked cars if it was.
Man are you ever rite I had a new 65 mustang fast back red in color and it had a 390 two 4's it would break lose all the time.Kinda telling my age here Ha.....
Maybe for u if u don't know how drive a muscle car so stick with the Prius & hondos 😸
@@gtx-808 Never owned a Import POS
even with a 5.4 or 4.6 dohc ford motor they are just so torquey , LS Motors in mustangs are A ok by me
@@steveshoemaker6347 so it's confirmed then the mustang loves to hit crowds
Loved the burn out ending :D
Oh maan.....than horn at the end.....always put a smile on my face...would love to have that as a ringtone on the phone :)
Man those Ring brothers build some nice rides. My favorite was the Javelin. But I wonder if Jay ever gets pulled over for no plates at all on the car?
Ugh! Chevy motor on a Mustang, it's just wrong.
It may be wrong but it makes sense and is more practical.
+Leeroy Jenkins I love the LS motor, but Ford has great V8's too so there's no excuse for this.
+GT7786 I see you're point but the man who they built this for had his reasons and that's enough reason for me to say that he prefers an ls engine over a coyote or a larger ford v8. It all comes down to personal preference, as someone's comment below this one said "it's basically not a ford anymore"
+Leeroy Jenkins true...
Did anyone notice the cop @ 22:56?
+Paul Rodriguez Yep... Only Jay would get away with driving like that right in front of a cop. Copper probably saw the camera truck and knew not to bother.
+Alvin Brinson Jay pays off duty cops to provide rolling roadblocks on his test rides. They get caught on camera now and again. You usually see them on Mulholland. Also, Jay donates free stand up time to police charity events. He'll never get a ticket in this state.
Clay Loomis He did get a ticket, or claimed to on one of his videos.
+Paul Rodriguez CA law says if you're filming on the road you have to have a police escort.
The Ring Brothers are over the top second to none. Such beautiful work. Chevy engine, no problem
The installation and finish on this thing is world class!
I want to hear that guy say "Da Bears".
Japan called they want there "R" back.
😂😂😂😂
And Audi wants their supercharged badge back too
FORD DID IT FIRST!!!!
their*
Lol, I was thinking it looks like a Nissan GT-R’ s emblem
65 Mustang and 67 Camaro are the best looking cars in the world ever, its a proven fact.
69 Z is better.
1987 ford escort, yowza!
63 E type
E type, D type and XKSS
Damn Jay I hope u appreciate the opportunities ur life provides. And I’m glad I have the opportunity to vicariously experience a little of the feeling the cars must give you. Thanks for providing the video.
Sounds wicked, love Jay Leno's Garage. You gotta come tour our shop Jay.
23:00 Lapd's pacing jay
Never! Mustang in name only. Great work though, never mix the 2. If you want a chevy build one.
Donald Hare : Bonus points for telling a well-heeled customer what to do with his custom car.
NOT! Baaahahahahahaaaa
The sound of the fuel pumps would drive me mental.
+rubbiebubbie I think that was bad audio from the wireless microphones, it sounded like interference, maybe not grounded. it has happened to me in the past when making videos
Is that what it is? Drives me nuts, too.
I thought it was the blower or blower belt
Me too love the car but would definitely have to change that fuel pump
the most creative guys out there. wish i had the cash
