It did. That is the reason for the cloudy hydrosol. Since it’s low oil content not enough to separate from the small batch.

DR. KWOK, I FINALLY OPENED UP MY BOX TODAY BECAUSE I WAS READY TO TRY MY HAND AT A HYDROSOL BUT EVEN AFTER WATCHING VIDEOS AND READING THE INSTRUCTIONS, I STILL HAVE MANY QUESTION AND IT LOOKS SO EASY. FIRST, THE PACKAGE DOESN'T COME WITH CLEAR TUBING CORRECT? WE HAVE TO BUY THAT ON OUR OWN? ALSO, I SEE THAT YOU HAVE 2 DIFFERENT TUBING GOING INTO THE COLLECTION BUCKET. WHAT IS THAT MOTOR THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE TUBING IN THE WATER? I DON'T WANT TO MAKE THINGS HARDER FOR MYSELF BUT IF I CAN DO WITHOUT ALL THE EXTRAS THEN THAT WOULD BE GREAT.
IF WE MANUALLY DO IT WITH ADDING ICE AND COOL WATER, HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN IT HAS GOTTEN TOO HOT AND THE ICE AND WATER NEED TO BE SCOOPED OUT AND REPLACED WITH COOL WATER AGAIN? ALSO, THE 30 MINUTE TIME PERIOD, DOES THAT START AS SOON AS YOU TURN YOUR STOVE ON OR AFTER A FEW MINUTES? I KNOW I'M ASKING A LOT BUT I JUST WANT TO BE SURE I'M DOING IT RIGHT.

Hi, Thank you very much for sending me your questions and I am sorry for the confusion. The cooling circultion connectors have the same size with the distillate outlet, which is half inches. You may use or order silicon tubing with ID 10mm for the circulation and hydrosol extension tubing because silicon tubing can be stretched out a little bit and having better seal. When using ice cubes, you may replace the warm water with more ice cubes when it heated up.

I am looking for a steam distillation unit of stainless steel. Yours seems to be good one. I am looking forward to extract lutein from marigold. Is it possible to use this unit for some experiments of extraction of lutein?

Do we need to refrigerate the hydrosol? And what is the shelf life of it if we do not refrigerate?

It is recommended to be saved in refrigerator. If not when fresh hydrosol is placed in clean bottles it can still have months shelf life. Keep it away from direct sunlight and use dark bottles.
