Glad you could visit us at Big Stone Lake. Big Stone is one of the most unique fisheries you’ll find. Glad I only have to drive 10 miles yet I still don’t get out there enough.

I have fished bigstone with locals there on open water and if ain't a 10 or bigger sometimes 11 they r going back I need todo some ice fishing there
@@CNCoutdoors We have our summer home right between big stone and traverse in Browns valley. It sucks to see certain "groups" come in and fill coolers (plural) and do it day after day, never giving thought to the sportsman that respect nature and legal limits.

I just subscribed to your channel so I’m new. I enjoyed your video and your set up is so awesome to be able to sleep, cook and fish in your fish house. Plus your able to stay warm in it also and watch the fish you catch on tv that’s really awesome. I wish I was able to be in one of those fish house setups. Y’all are so blessed. I live in Saint Cloud, MN. I have been dreaming on having a boat. I do fish I really love to fish ex-specially catfish. But I don’t have a boat so I bank fish. But I will keep other types of fish also and clean and cook. But frying up catfish is really good. Thank you for your video and keep making those videos. Y’all have a blessed day.

Went there a month later and the fishing was beyond horrible. Had us 300 yards off shore surrounded by shacks on a horrible bite. 3 days with 4 guys fishing and we kept 36 perch. At least I cant wait to catch perch on the Mississippi now
That’s why they call it fishing i guess! I think if you ask them they will move the shack but i might be wrong on that. Good luck on the Mississippi!!

Yeah there’s a bunch of places that do it in Minnesota and South Dakota. I don’t mind traveling 5- 10 hours to do it, makes it a fun little trip

Yeah it was super clear, we were fishing in about 14’ and you could see the fish plain as day down the hole. So freakin cool

Stayed with them last year. Caught most of our keepers at night with glow tungsten bullflys. Such weird bite catching perch at night but definitely alot of fun

I'm heading out there to fish. Bringing a portable ice house. Where's are the best areas to fish? Down by Ortonville? Any other ideas? Could really go for a meal of perch.
We’re not from the area and this was the first time we’ve ever been on the lake. If i were you I’d stop in at a tackle shop and see if they can give you some ideas on a hot bite. Good luck hope you get some fish!!
lots of small ones my personal slot window is 12-15 , but the shak is awesom and the sceen damn looks so cool.

They grow them big in Germany! I’ve caught a few in the 14-17” range but not many. Typically we eat the 8-12” perch here in the states and let everything bigger swim. Thanks for watching!!

Nice trip again,did you have to bring the deep fryer along,or was that in the fish house.Next purchase got to be that camera,thats realy neat.
Yup we brought the deep fryer, they supplied things like paper towels, garbage bags etc. definitely going to invest in a nice underwater camera one of these years. So much fun to watch the fish react to your bait
Me and my wife just booked a trip out there with Arties in a sleeper. What should we bring for jigs and colors? Great video!
Thanks, that’s awesome! I would definitely recommend bringing some small single hooks and split shot. We caught a ton of our fish on fat head minnows. For jigs i would bring small spoons and tungsten jigs with spikes for bait. Color didn’t seem to matter much for us but i would bring natural colors because the water was very clear. Hope you two have a great time!!

we bought a lot out there on manhatten island and yeah the bluegill are STUDS

What’s the info for renting an ice castle up there on big stone same service you guys had?
We stayed tues-Thurs ; it was $225 per night. Weekend nights are $320 per night.

Did you guys run in to any walleyes or sturgeon?
Saw one walleye on camera come cruising through right before dark but that was it. The day after we left some guys caught a giant 32” eye.

Did you guys catch anything during the night?
Yeah the first night we were catching perch until we pulled the lines around 1am. It was pretty wild, I’ve never caught perch at night like that before.
Is there a reason you went on Jan 10 instead of later......I am thinking of the 3rd week of Feb. Any opinion about fish activity at that time? Thanks for any advice!
Nope, that’s just what worked out best for our schedules. I would think 3ed week of February would be a good time frame. If you can go in march that might be even better for fish activity with the sun being out longer and warmer weather.

One other thing! I have caught a lot of perch! Never in the dark! Was it that good? Did you use glo jigs?
@@tomplasky7277 that was a first for me, typically back home (Green Bay) the perch shut off right before dark. Apparently on Big Stone lake people catch perch in the dark fairly often. Most of our fish after dark were caught on minnows but I’m sure any glow hooks/ jigs will work awesome. Definitely going to try that on our trip this year.

Typically a fish fry for the wife and i, we need about 10-12 perch depending on size. Sometimes more or less depending on if we want cold fish the next day for lunch. The rest of the fillets will be vacuum sealed for the following weeks fish fry. We like to eat fish.. sorry not sorry
