No, fuel pump locking not necessary - it’s position is not a consideration to engine timing. The LASER locking tool kit and Haynes manual say not required to lock fuel pump.
@@mattroche5079 thanks for your reply, yes that’s what I was trying to work out, whether the injector pump needs to be timed. Some vehicles it does and some it doesn’t, if there’s no locking pin it’s not a timed pump. Cheers.
@@mattroche5079 Wondered as oil return pipe is not in that position on 307 DW10. Still have to move starter and possibly fuel filter to get to timing hole...not looking forward to that!!

@@mattroche5079 I meant the high pressure diesel pump that feeds the fuel rail for the injectors. It’s driven by the cambelt. Does that need locking ?
