Still enjoying, still teaching
Enjoy learning, love watching. Thanks for sharing x take care
Find your advice so useful, thanks🐝
I know about the weather differences Steve, I live in Dumfriesshire and we get winds straight off the Solway. The temps are very different from elsewhere. I could hardly stand on my allotment today and gave up. We too seem to have our own climate in this part and it always get windy when the tide comes in. Thankyou for all your tips and hints. Happy sowing!
Love your polly tunnel!
I'll be having a seed sowing session today. It's t.shirt warm and will be for a little longer.
Interested to see how the China Rose do now. Thanks for the tips & advice 👍
Fab! I need to sow as much as I can in winter to make up for not sowing in summer lol
Inspiration thankyou!
I do like your "Go for it" attitude Steve 😊
Newbie gardener here. My kale and chard were great and I’m leaving some of each in the ground to see how long they’ll manage in my Canadian garden. Nakusp, BC 🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️👍👩🌾
When it turns to seed the flowering shoots are delicious both raw and cooked.
A great idea getting seedlings from the cut and come again lettuce Steve, I’ve never thought about that idea 😀 cheers mate, great video stay safe mate David 👍👍
Awesome Steve buddy, you never fail to teach me mate, thank you so much for sharing buddy
Great video, I'm planning on doing some sowing when I can get in the garden, if it ever stops raining.
Another great update Steve and another fine sowing fest.
l just wanted to say thank you for all your advice and tips you give on your channel. Im finding them incredibly useful even though we only have a small veg garden and greenhouse. lv been following your' what to sow' each month and now have our tiny greenhouse full to the brim of salads growing really well. l stacked up all my large outside containers to protect over winter and planted up the top ones with salads.,lv got 10 large top containers filled with salads. We are confident l will able to pick salads all over the holiday week.. l wanted to see if l could beat having to pay the over inflated salad prices, we get during the holiday week. iv got chives, mint, parsley in pots on top shelfs + apache lettuce, swiss chard, rocket, land cress, pak choi, radish, spring onions, mustard, spinach, all sown Sept and looking good. in the containers. We have 4 containers of maincrop potatoes as experiment to see what we get,, then we will replace them with 4 containers' of divided rhubarb to force grow in 'dark' covered over for Spring picking. Its the first time we have Autumn/Winter salads growing as l didnt think it could be done in my 4ft x 5ft greenhouse growing over winter. Everything is covered over with recycled cut down pop bottles & bubble wrap and looking really promising. I'm so excited lol.
Jobs for the weekend!! Garlic. Sort out pots for garlic. Plant garlic! X
Me too, been put on the long finger 🤞🏻
Thanks Steve. Love how you just keep going all year! I have some spare brassicas I want to get planted out, just need to see if others have survived at the allotment and fill any gaps first as you suggest, great idea. It’s been raining heavily on the days I am off work and ready to get to the allotment 😡, but at least I know everything is being watered 😅
Hi Steve, thanks for sharing. Wet and windy here in Shakespeare country so not been to the plot for a couple of days but doing some sowing in the greenhouse at home. Take care and stay dry...
Hi steve, thanks for sharing and take care 🙂
Hi Steve,
It was interesting to hear you mention the differing temps around the country.
I'm based on the South coast in Eastbourne. What a difference those degrees make, as I'm still harvesting the last of the outside toms even a couple of cucumbers to come, while the greenhouse still has red/green toms fruiting and still later trusses of flowers due to your fabulous vids of using the side shoots for new later plants.
Global warming isn't all bad.
I have to mention to anyone who hasn't grown the many varieties of lettuce, which you've shown us, which are cut and come again. You must! It is so delicious and the textures, flavours and colours delight all who sample it.
Thanks Steve, so much for your tips and this gardener and allotment holder will not be hanging up his trowel for the winter like he normally would.👍
Like you Steve I'm going to be sowing seeds throughout November as the weather has been so mild most the stuff I sowed in later October has already grown into usable plants. Thinking ahead I'm considering staggering the spring sowing over a longer period and get some in earlier than normal to take benefit if we have a mild winter in spring period.
Fab vlog Steve 🥰
Greetings, Steve, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸
I can grow lettuce year-round. In July thru September is the toughest time.
I hope you have a great autumn 🍂
Great update Steve we have similar weather in N.Ireland and like yourself we are rarely without the rain Lough Neagh wouldn't be so big without the rain and we always get a false Spring the Month of May always ends with a drop in temperature
Great tips as usual, glad I don't have your weather - be in thermals all year 🤣
Which Sweetheart cabbage varieties do you grow?
Hi Steve we're do you get your green seed trays from?
Keeeeeeep sowing👍
Just put spring onions and pak choi in myself, I don't worry too much about timing either. Atb from Scotland
Hi Steve, thanks for sharing. You mentioned the dreaded white fly! I lost my sprouts to this pest this year. Do you have any tips on how to control/defeat white fly please? Haydn
Hi Steve great videos and a wealth of knowledge you share. I live in Northern Ireland and have similar weather patterns to you in Cumbria. Last month I planted spinach, rocket and lettuce leaf seeds in containers in my greenhouse. They haven't germinated yet. Any advice you could give?
great video Steve, out to greenhouse now to sow some more. Is it to late to put seedlings out? ie cabbage and chard. Im on the coast near Formby
Hello I don't have a greenhouse, can I still sow lettuce seeds indoors on a window sill?
hi Cathy i don’t either so i start the indoors then transplant into the garden
@@StellasVegetablegardens ok I was concerned about this horrid wet weather we are having at the moment too! When do you transplant outdoors? Spring I presume? I've not grown a lot of veg before but willing to have a go
@@cathybonner9437 i transplant when they have at least 3true leaves
@@StellasVegetablegardens I have some hardy lettuce seeds here, Arctic King, can I still start those off indoors?
@@cathybonner9437 yes you can
