On the discussion of predictability: the correct term for attacks coming from a boss would be “stochastic”. There’s a set number/suite of attacks, but you can not know which order they’ll come in. To extend an analogy you made with the deck of cards: when you pick a card, it HAS to be one of the 52 cards in the deck. You don’t know which of those 52 cards it will be, but you know you aren’t going to flip a card in the deck and it’s a “47 of Pentagrams”.
Okay, longoids. Time to keep track. As of the time of this writing, Wilford Brimley has been alive for a total 31,309 days. MovieBob on the other hand (Apparently we share the same birthday, kill me) has been alive for 14,361 days. We'll see who succumbs to their diabetes first. Personally, I'm rooting for Brimley to pull through.
8:12:15 I'd just like to point out, MauLer hit the side of the floating palace before falling into the Sarlac Pit. He recreated Boba Fett's fall in ROTJ.
Tonalds journey has been a blast. Wholesome af. From almost giving up making videos to this new content type. Got to give credit to the man (the myth, the legend)
21:05 "Last of Us 2- it's not like Dunkey's gonna be covering Last of Us 2 positively, right? That's pretty unlikely" What is it with MauLer casually predicting things?
Eh, I "predicted" it too considering Dunkey pussied out of criticizing TLOU1 and withdrew his video despite it being 100% accurate. He can't take criticism about his opinions.
@MauLer I laughed a ton with this guest lineup & absolutely loved the games focus. As someone who isn't a much of a SW or Marvel fan, or much of a movie fan at all tbh, I tune in to every episode to listen as I really enjoy you, Rags, (& Wolf❤️) & most of the guests. Generally find myself in tears of laughter at least once during each episode, oftentimes more. Cheers.
1:07:50 There is a HUGE difference between 'Predictable' and 'Easy to predict'. The weather is predictable, because it CAN be predicted. Doesn't mean you will get it right though. The core gameplay loop for most boss fights I believe is: Observe pattern, learn pattern, predict pattern. At least in boss rush games like Dark Souls and Cup Head.
I am a veterinarian. At our practice, we see at least once every other month a dog that’s ingested chocolate and we have to induce vomiting. In all seriousness: it smells delicious. It smells (and usually looks) just like melted chocolate. Definitely the most pleasant bodily fluid we have to deal with.
Yeah despite the video doing exactly what it’s says it’s doing, I don’t see how that’s necessary, or at least in how it’s delivered. It takes concepts from short 1-2 sentence explanations to entire sections for little reason.
When are we going to get a meme of Wilford Brimley as the last man on earth dressed up like mad max, shotgun in one hand and butter soaked chocolate bar in the other?
"Witchers are male witches" The entire chat: "I'm about to end this man's career" In the books AND the games it's very specifically pointed out that witchers ARE NOT WITCHES, but less-informed people like peasants might make that mistake.
I was practically screaming at the screen when he said that in the books that is what Witcher meant. In the original Polish the term is Hexer as far as I know.
@@Rivian_Jedi yeah it makes more sense in german. (wich is weird) The destinction is clearer and resembles the difference between witch and witcher more. Witcher is "Hexer" in german while "Hexe" would be witch. But they are called "Zauberin" And the male form "Zauberer" wich translates to Mage or Sorcerer/ Sorceress. And it is even a plotpoint in the books that females cant bekome witchers because of their Physiology.
@@MetalFire1998 Yeah I think much of English fantasy fails to distinguish magic. JK Rowling for instance rather hurt that by making all females "Witches" and all males "Wizards." Wizard has basically lost all meaning in our culture, at least most people recognize witches as female exclusively. I'd appreciate more people distinguishing Witchcraft from Spellcraft/Magecraft/Sorcery. The fact we have so many different words to classify with but don't use them.
@@robinthrush9672atleast that's a little understandable by the fact that both witches and warlock make deals with demons and devils for their magical powers.
25:00 I don't know what's the best vomit, but I can tell you the worst: I once drank salmiac-/salty liquorice-chili vodka. Around half a liter of it over an evening. In the morning when I threw up the taste of the vomit made me vomit again, repeatedly. The drink itself is fine if you're used to nordic sweets and alcohol, but keep it in moderation...
Oh my gosh, Tonald's video is actually great! His passion is seeping through the whole thing, the editing is mostly on-point, his script is better than any of his gaming videos, and even his delivery is better for it because he just loves what he's doing. It's a joy to watch, honestly
This is really late but for some reason I didn't realize Crymor had been on the show before hence why I referred to him as "the new guest" I'm an r-word
I'm rapidly becoming convinced Tonald is actually a space alien that was exiled to Earth but at some point discovered that human food is incredible and so he is now devoting his love for food as the next big front for his disguise.
Just so you know. When Rags mocks the Bible for a prophecy that says "there will be wars and rumors of wars," this is not correct. It is not a prophecy. He is referring to Matthew 24:6 - "And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet." It pretty much speaks for itself. Always check the context Rags.
Rags being wrong and presenting cherry picked evidence? You don't say. I'm not even religious and I'll say that is wrong for him to present scripture inaccurately like that. Assuming he did so knowingly. Otherwise it is just more classic ignorance from him.
@Victor Kurske Rag's''ss was demonstrably incorrect about a reference. This doesn't seem like something worth sardonically defending. Generally, sarcastically defending someone else's position only makes sense when they're right.
Real talk on the throw up thing; popcorn is not fun to throw up. When the kernel remnants come up they scratch your throat on the way up and it's painful with a lasting discomfort
I've never vomited anything that was as uncomfortable as hot sauce. And it was scorpion sauce, which was like absurdly hot. I'm talking 1,000,000 schoville hot. In fact, even after downing 3 milk cartons and eating my lunch, along with some apples and pears, the sauce continued to burn in my stomach like the fires of hell, which caused the vomiting to begin with. I should also mention I had eaten an entire spoonful of the stuff. The end result was about as painful as you would expect. The worst part is that it didn't even taste good.
Tonald can keep doing these fancy ones and also do more basic recipes in some other videos too. Or maybe just add a disclaimer of what utensils and equipment you’ll need at the beginning before he gets cooking. Only criticism though, it is a mere ding on the perfection that is these videos.
@Generris YT Well there are other podcasts (maybe not so many in this format, but similar content) people could listen to, or just the superchats, too. 3 hours of content is quite a lot by anyone but EFAP standards.
@@brianmayfield3474 i suppose they haven't found a good game to co-op again, though i would suppose moments where they play together on metal's stream could be considered an efap gaming episode if we're being lenient
Honesty, Chase not liking Persona really surprised me. I dunno about his content outside being a semi-common guest of EFAP, but he always struck me as the kinda weeb who'd probably like persona. Hell, he mentioned liking JoJo's bizarre adventure, and even said part 3 was overrated! He clearly has patrician taste most of the time, so his Persona take is just baffling
Rags theres a lore explanation for the halo jump "Spartans have higher reflexes so when they run, jump ect everything seems slower from their perspective" it's why they can see needler bolts and plasma shots so easily. Just don't ask about odst or the addition of sprint to halo
That's a really terrible explanation for the games. Nothing slows down for the player except for the actual character model on the jump descent. It's not a matter of reflexes. Everything is in real time as he's descending, audio and objects, everything. It's their decision for the jumping mechanic of Halo that doesn't really mesh with what Master Chief actually is. It's just a way for them to try and make sense of how the physics just do not check out, but unfortunately that explanation raises more questions than it answers. You have never been playing the Halo games in "slow motion". Add to that the fact that Arbiter's jump is identical and it just further falls apart.
For sure, i'm not willing to defend this as a good explanation considering the in game contradictions. Think it's enough of a reason to suspend disbelief though. That said I really like the halo jump, think is good for the flow of gameplay and the physics engine is made way more fun because of it.
@26:00 rags unironically calls milk alkaline (it's actually acidic) xD btw, as a bulimic I can answer the vomit question. it's not really about _what_ you eat, but how much relative to what you should have, and how fast you do it. if you over eat and puke right away it tastes basically the same as when it went in, but if your stomach is mostly empty or you wait to long that is when you taste the bile. sory for the tmi but you _did_ ask!
32:10 I watched a friend of mine play through quite a long part of Persona 5. The story is good, the characters are neat and even the IRL simulator part of it actually works. Since the combat happens mainly in dungeons, it kind of wears you out and so it's nice to change enviroments and watch character interactions for a while between dungeon delving.
@@Rivian_Jedi it's a 7 ft tall suit that weighs equal to a grand piano. Until 5 there were no thrusters that allowed you to float, and as far as I remember, in the books they dont float, they drop like rocks.
It's been standard across many games since Mario to fake jumping physics because realistic physics when jumping aren't always fun. In the case of something like Halo, it makes it harder to control where you are going to land when you shoot up quickly and fall fast.
"If you have something that's unpredictable, and it still takes enough time for you to react to it, then it's not nearly as egregious, if at all. If you have time to see it coming, that kind of mitigates the randomness and the luck factor of a completely unpredictable attack." FromSoft could learn something from this. Some of his enemies in DkS3... oof. Both the scythe and curved sword Pontiff Knights have one attack that comes from their right where they swing with ridiculous speed and, if you don't hit the parry button as soon as they've decided what attack, you will be too late. I've been studying them and trying everything to mitigate this. It's a total crap shoot. Meaning, you can't react to it in time to parry. Once you see and identify that they're using *that* attack, it's already too late to parry. The best I've been able to do (in REACTION) to the attack is hitting the parry button blindly as soon as he STARTS to move, and if it's that fast move, the best I'll do is a partial parry. I literally have to hit the parry button BEFORE he does an attack to parry that move. Hell, it's barely enough time to roll it. Every time I've rolled it, it's in assumption that that's the move they're using. If you roll it, you can parry the followup out of your roll. But combine that with other attacks that require you to delay an input if you wanna parry them, it's not the most intuitive enemy. You can react to most of their other moves to parry (though some look the same that require more of a delay), but the fact that that one attack exists that is just a "fuck you" to the player already takes away a lot of the fun engagement. It boils parrying that move down to a sheer guess, which isn't fun. And their lightning fast swing is the beginning of their 8-10-hit "fuck you" combo that, even if you roll perfectly, you can't get an attack in between their strikes fast enough, so you just have to roll until they're done. But some strikes are dickishly delayed while made to look like they have a consistent followthrough. The combo was basically designed by the cuntiest employee at FromSoft. On the other hand, giant crabs are amazing. Their attacks all have a consistent flow to them, regardless of the move, and their 3 delayed moves are easy to recognize and have a response for each one. They're the most fun enemy (for me) to fight.
Warlock is not a male witch, witch is a gender neutral term. The stereotype of women being witches is that they were morally weaker than males, so would make deals with demons. Warlocks are traitors, usually former priests or priestesses, who betrayed their former orders for more power or protection. Witch, wizard, and warlock are all proto Indo European words; wizards is a technically term, not quite genius but naturally gifted in a field
Warlock: Traitor(s) working either against their former allies or against both sides, unlike non-affiliated rogue(s) having no further effects on the conflict. Warlocks operated most often during times of open warfare and for example, would be used as scouts or intel gatherer(s), able to seek and obtain valuable information through means other than the standard ways of the time. The current and common idea of what a warlock is comes from the added bits a in the context, it's basically a traitor that works for the other side, using data and powers, (like spell craft and such), aquired from their former allies. Pretty much the D&D version of what would be the mirror opposite of a French saboteur during WWII. Just sharing my subjective take from past experience.
I got a heart from Downward Thrust on an earnest and complimentary comment I left on his Witcher cooking video. I call him Tonald in the compliment and he heart’d it - he has embraced the meme 🥰
He has a good taste in Prosciutto and really knows how to cook and general knowledge. The fact he mentioned the Sumac spice, is most impressive. Not many people even know what that spice is. You find it in a lot of Middle East cuisine, like Tabouleh and Fatouche salad. Armenians use Sumac on Manteh, a great old dish. Especially him making a duck confit.
I'm very far behind on EFAP so I'm catching up and I get to the Wilford Brimley and it feel really weird knowing that he ascends two months after this video came out.
with the supermeatboy reference, i would have brought up that the respawn mechanic plays a significant role in how the levels are designed. From what i remember with Cuphead is if you die on a boss, you have to go through a pre-stage of normal enemies and platforming that takes a few minutes, or in Dark Souls it takes 10seconds to respawn at the last bonfire and then sometimes several minutes to return to where you died. In SMB the respawning is near instant. And this is an important distinction since its a different process of punishment, which means difficulty can be scaled up since theres less punishment for failure, so having more BS ways to be killed isnt as bad as if it happens in a different game since its made almost inconsequential. People are more ok with being setback by something stupid if its 1 second as opposed to 100. Then you also have a philosophy of "should players be theoretically capable of never triggering a failstate and does that mean the game is good?" which is something else. Im sure Markus Brownism has a 10:01 video going into great detail of how [trending game] punishes mistakes
Man, imagine Mark Brownlee telling you about the many ways that you could crash in Dirt Rally 2.0? "On this stage you must be aware that there are trees and rocks and spectators that could cause you to become distracted................ This means that player must focus on.................................. the many things all at once which adds............ a particular challenge to this otherwise titular racing game."
10:00 can confirm. Vegas lets me put Vibratos and make videos longer than a certain time, no matter what Premiere crashes if i try to render something longer than an hour
1:17:41 That's one of my top issues with Dark Souls 3: Instead of giving the bosses AI, they gave them RNG. Bosses have 10 - 30 different attacks/actions and will use them randomly. This means they can either be really really hard because they chain high-speed, hard-to-avoid attacks or they can just walk in a circle around you and occasionally throw out a slow attack. This is actually how I beat the Dancer on my first playthrough - the RNG broke and the boss just walked around the room not doing anything for a good 30 seconds, then used a couple really slow attacks, during which time I beat it down to 25%. In DS2 bosses had 5 - 10 attacks and used them fairly predictably and far more consistently. That means it's actually possible to remember what moves the boss can use and and it doesn't just randomly break.
The game that guy is talking about that has a boss be killed in one hit for a joke (or at least a game I know does exactly what he described) is Spiderman 2. You "fight" Mysterio in a comic book store and when he introduces himself and prepares to fight, you see a health bar show up that fills up once in red, then again in yellow, then again in green as he does some sort of "charging up" animation. Then you run forward and punch him and as he flies backwards in slow-motion all 3 of his health bars slide down in one go, only for his helmet to fly off and reveal that it's Quentin-Beck
What kind of food would resist acid degradation the most? Aka what food would take a long time to dissolve in your stomach? Bob's "small" McDonald's meal comes to mind
gotta say, I stick around at the end for the discussions from the superchats, not discussions from the superchats that are then interrupted (literally talking over people) by you reacting to a game
It seems like at least once an episode he has to drop a really tismy take like that. I can think of many shooters where a dedicated jump is not only beneficial, but necessary. I think something like Modern Warfare you could get away with making jumps contextual only, but in games like Halo, Overwatch, or (showing my age here) Unreal Tournament with high mobility, the jump button is absolutely necessary. Not to mention it’s a completely retarded take to begin with as a jump button does literally nothing to detract from the experience. TLDR, Rags is just a moron sometimes, either that or he is playing a deep troll on everyone, but he’s always so committed and deadpan it’s hard to tell.
52:04 Who else remembers when Mooler and Wagz watched this video on Wolf's podcast 2:56:11 Little Clown Boi 3:00:32 Dat Tonald Face Though 3:07:57 Rabbit B Stare 3:24:06 Giant D
I’m a couple of months behind, so out of curiosity I decided to look up Wilford Brimley to see if he was still alive, only to find out he died a month ago. Kinda spooky ngl
From experience, kimchi is the best to throw up. It's at a sweet spot of flavors that completely buries the bile and stomach acid. Legit tastes the same coming out as going in.
I had to leap over a car that was going to hit me while I had about 50 lbs of beer in my arms while in the snow. I literally saw the hood of the car underneath me lol. Landed on my feet and kept running for the bus.

Sometimes, but some bosses have a much more restricted script. Some only do one pattern, every time.

"Witchers are male witches"
The entire chat: "I'm about to end this man's career"
In the books AND the games it's very specifically pointed out that witchers ARE NOT WITCHES, but less-informed people like peasants might make that mistake.

Rag's acting just like the cringe fedora-tipping atheists of reddit??? Surely you jest..........

@26:00 rags unironically calls milk alkaline (it's actually acidic) xD
btw, as a bulimic I can answer the vomit question. it's not really about _what_ you eat, but how much relative to what you should have, and how fast you do it. if you over eat and puke right away it tastes basically the same as when it went in, but if your stomach is mostly empty or you wait to long that is when you taste the bile.

Absolutely staggering that Wilford Brimley [Dead] died 6 weeks after this was published
Rags is totally right about Halo jumping. Its floatiness makes no sense. He should shoot up fast, but then drop like a rock.
I have never played Halo, but that can easily by handwaved by the sci fi armor. For all the player knows it could have properties that slow descent.
Old school castlevania jumps sucked. But they made fucking sense.
Hmmm, almost like when it comes to vydia games, gameplay should come first.

"If you have something that's unpredictable, and it still takes enough time for you to react to it, then it's not nearly as egregious, if at all. If you have time to see it coming, that kind of mitigates the randomness and the luck factor of a completely unpredictable attack."
FromSoft could learn something from this.
I love the Tonald redemption arc so far.
Never forget that Chase doxxed his own friend lol
Warlock is not a male witch, witch is a gender neutral term. The stereotype of women being witches is that they were morally weaker than males, so would make deals with demons.
Warlocks are traitors, usually former priests or priestesses, who betrayed their former orders for more power or protection. Witch, wizard, and warlock are all proto Indo European words; wizards is a technically term, not quite genius but naturally gifted in a field
And the far more common term in the novels is Sorcerer and Sorceress.
Warlock:
Traitor(s) working either against their former allies or against both sides, unlike non-affiliated rogue(s) having no further effects on the conflict.
"On this stage you must be aware that there are trees and rocks and spectators that could cause you to become distracted................ tfw he died a month and a half after...
Do Renegade Cut's videos! :D
Some did that and you know what? People hated it.
wilford brimley (dead) died this weekend. Moment of silence for the best beetus to ever live
This is my fav episode of efap, hands down.
First break me Slownald, then break me Tonald. Praise the Don
Another Fun episode. Was so glad to see Moriarty come back again, oh and Chase Face... Even if he canae remember Tonald's name. ^.-.^
What kind of food would resist acid degradation the most? Aka what food would take a long time to dissolve in your stomach?
Bob's "small" McDonald's meal comes to mind
26:30 "Drink milk to excess" Pretty sure that was done on an episode of Jackass (maybe Steve-O?). I can't imagine it was a terrible time for him.
WTF, MarkAfterDark sounds just like Rags, when Mark spoke and I looked at his icon, I thought "when did rags change his pfp?"
EFAP 100: Cooking stream with Tonald
I read that as “Cooking Steam”
I too enjoy a good plasma producing cookout
Jesus, that was a year ago?!
Where the hell did it go? Q_q
Swindon!?!?! Rags.... Swindon??? I live in Swindon. Just so you know, we don’t shag carpets.
gotta say, I stick around at the end for the discussions from the superchats, not discussions from the superchats that are then interrupted (literally talking over people) by you reacting to a game
I had to jump just the other day to reach a bar I was doing pull-ups on, Rags. I don't get this sarcastic point you're trying to make.
EFAP should do a 90's series. For EFAP 91, they should a review a movie review about a movie that was released in 1991.
Rags mentioning Kroger made me relate to him so much more than other stuff he does
52:04 Who else remembers when Mooler and Wagz watched this video on Wolf's podcast
2:56:11 Little Clown Boi
3:00:32 Dat Tonald Face Though
3:07:57 Rabbit B Stare
3:24:06 Giant D
And two weeks later Wilford Brimley died.
I’m a couple of months behind, so out of curiosity I decided to look up Wilford Brimley to see if he was still alive, only to find out he died a month ago. Kinda spooky ngl
If Heavens align, and you get Tonald as a guest, make him watch Movie-Bobs cookings
D: nough
Boy do i have some good news for you.
@@lordofdarkness4204 Well, I know he was on EFAP 100, but that isn't news?
@@RoutaAskel I mean now it isn’t, true. I meant that in a more comical humorous sense, but whatever.
@@lordofdarkness4204 Ah. For a moment I was afraid someone DID show him Movie-Bobs cooking
RIP Wilford Brimley
Wilford Brimley's death two months after this video was uploaded was both predictable, and unpredictable.
