    10 thumbs up ! I am 60 years old and still rocking any look I want ! There is no item of clothing , style or color , that is off limits to you just because of age, it depends on what works on your body, what you like , and what the situation is. Experiment, try stuff on , have fun !

    I’m 60 still love fashion style and keep in gym shape , I’m a big fan of One Dapper Street for years and follow your style and make it work for my age , it keeps me looking fresh and younger looking.
    My Fashion advice is always keep it classic and elegant at an older age.

    Thank you so much for this. Makes me weirdly feel validated for how I dress. I’m 35, and a dad and refuse to give up certain things like my Jordan’s and some more street stylish casual looks on the weekends. It’s my style, and makes me feel comfortable in my own skin.

    I am so glad your channel appears to be 'maturing' with you. I agree with your sentiments in general especially with regards to wearing clothes being primarily mindful of the appropriateness of the situation. 20s, experimental stage, try all styles and play with trends to be sure. 30s to me is like a transitional stage where you still can get away with following cutting edge trends if you want to but be more mindful of your lifestyle, and you should tend to an aspirational style, find what really works and what doesn't. 40s, you are likely more established re your style, thus you most likely have established your 'uniform', but be mindful to have 'fun' once in a while.

    Just now I’m watching this video and you have no idea how important is for me. I’m 32 and for the first time ever I have money to buy whatever clothes I want, so I feel that I’m in my 20s experimenting a lot and trying as much as I can to discover myself. I’m oscillating a lot but I’m very happy and comfortable with all the styles I’m navigating.

    Finally! The voice of reason. Marcel you nailed it in this video. I have watched other similar content by others regarding age appropriate attire . It seems as soon as they get to the 40 year old demographic they think it's all about wearing a suit and overcoats and sport blazers and hard bottoms. That's not every man's lifestyle. However, there is an undeniable power and aura that comes from wearing just a sport/ suit coat. Also, women love the look of a well fitted coat; it's that masculine energy and power I mentioned. Lastly, I love l the layering and accessory opportunities from coats. Thanks so much for doing this video! Having just entered my 30s, I'm finding it hard to part with some of my staple pieces from my 20s but at the same time, I realise that I don't want to give off the impression that i'm trying to look younger than I am. I'm also discovering that comfortable summer looks are much harder at this age

    • @D_Jilla
      @D_Jilla 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think they're that hard brother. It's about the fabric. In California Summers I rock linen, performance polyester, tropical wool and breathable cotton (primarily in chinos and shirts). Some ideas: For top I would wear a linen suit jacket with a polo or moisture wicking T-shirt, or just a simple linen dress shirt with the sleeves tucked up; for the bottom some straight fit trousers or chinos because the way they drape not only looks nice, but helps ventilate air; lastly on the really hot days I'll wear a pair of loafers with no show socks. I also, like hats so I usually have a panama or paper material fedora. It's great for sun protection and breathability. In conclusion, you can easily look mature, dapper and stylish while keeping cool with the right fabrics and material 😎

      I'm 43 and dress like I'm 28. I get lots of compliments from girls in their 20s. I suppose it will be a little bit different in a few years when I'm fully grey haired. I looked like a tech geek when I was in my 20s and 30s. Now I've improved my shaped, gotten laser surgery, better faded haircut, watched a million TH-cam videos on what to wear, and mostly buy the better version of the item each time since it is not a big expense for me at this age. I did not get my V8 muscle car until I was 30 because that was when I could afford it even though its something guys generally benefit from in their teens. I found out from experience that women do not give a damn about your car but they do care if you have a membership to a local car wash, how good that car wash is, and whether you get it washed every week. They also care if it has four doors and whether it has plenty of room inside of it and how plush the seats are. The quality of the stereo matters too. No one wanted to ride in my two door piece of crap. It pushed women away and attracted young immature guys that the girls wanted to be far away from. I kept it for 12 years. I should have replaced it after 3 years. I won't be making that mistake again. Sorry for the long digression, lol. The point is, if you are late to a particular experience, you still have to go through the experience no matter what stage in life you are. I got my first pair of Chucks, Vans, Pumas, etc. recently too. I'm not going to miss out on that experience just because I grew up in a poor family that did not know about such wonderful things when I was a kid. Now I make six figures, have finished one of the top schools, have no debt even though I lost a gazillion in the markets, lol. I can afford to make up for lost time.

I’m 29 and my style has matured significantly over the past 5-10 years; I hardly follow the trends these days as I’m trying to get to a capsule wardrobe. I appreciate your views on this topic, it was fascinating to see what you had to say regarding the way we dress. That being said, I’m pretty happy where I’m at in terms of styling myself despite my age I tend to dress older and I’m comfortable with that because it makes me feel confident and also allows me to fit in no matter what the situation.

    I think the best rule is to just dress for your environment and then play around within that realm - so indirectly you're dressing for your age.
    A 3 piece suit may look fantastic on you but if you're a 20 year old wearing that to school where everyone else is just dressed casual you're gonna look totally out of place (I've seen it done several times at my own school and it NEVER works regardless of how nice the suit itself is)

    • @D_Jilla
      @D_Jilla 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see how that doesn't work? The person has to wear it with confidence. But, a 3 piece suit and even 2 piece might be too much, but again, if requires the confidence of the wearer.

    Great video and definitely important to stress appropriateness and lifestyle as the main factor for choosing your style. Though, that might also be the very reason why it often looks out of place when some wear suits to school. I disagree a bit on the general notion that style is timeless, as nothing really is and our style is indeed affected by external factors. Maybe it would be better to say that fashion and trends are what the mainstream is pushing for people to wear, and style is how you incorporate it (or not) and make it your own? For someone to have “good style” I think that there need to be a sense of authenticity 🙂 it needs to look like you are wearing the clothes and not the other why around.

  • @abubakarmahmood3967
    @abubakarmahmood3967 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know why or whether it is even something for me to worry about or not but for me I am happy as long as most of my family is happy with a suit etc., even though I don't bother myself (much) about external validation since I hardly care what I wear except for some crazy colors that my siblings always like to make me wear (and I can't honestly tell whether they are even serious or are just pulling my leg).
    Why, simply because my attention is not on what I am wearing all or at least most of the time and unlike others, I don't feel more or less confident in this shirt or that pants, and I sometimes argue with my family on this saying that you are just exaggerating what is (at least to me) a very simple shopping experience and most (most likely) won't even care what are they wearing after a few minutes or an hour or max two unless of course someone or something brings their attention back to their clothes.
    I guess what I mean is how many of us go stand in front of a full-body mirror again and again just to appreciate what are we wearing and as if we are trying to compensate for something or just to get another confidence boost? But then again I don't do selfies or sh!t so maybe I have nothing to worry about being photo perfect or whatever.
    In short, I believe we humans don't care what's not in our minds or even in front of our very eyes, and to me, it's all needless drama and worthless trouble!

    I tried dressing my age but it stifled my vibrant personality. Making my style more formal clashed with my job environment and my build was not complimented by the dapper style at 5’2” I always looked like I was wearing my daddy’s clothing. Back to a more relaxed loose style the loss in esthetics versus my boost in confidence I feel in wear clothing that comes from my soul is worth it .

    Today, as I work from home, and have a 4 year old running round the gaff, my style is not so serious. Ankle length loose fitting pants, a plain pocket tee and new balance 574's are my go-to. It's just not practical to be so smart.

    This is the best video ever. It matters what you do for work, what lifestyle you have, and who you hang out with. I'm 43, single, and never married. Recently, I started going to bars that have mostly people in their 20's. I like having the fun people have in their 20's since I missed out on much of it the first time around. I'm also dressing the way I should have when I was in my 20s. I don't see myself getting married so no reason to dress too dapper. I spent my 30s dressing dapper and it did not really do anything for me with women. Also, I switched to the IT field recently and most of the team dresses like crap. Some of them do not even take showers or brush their teeth. I am over dressed compared to most of them actually. Most of my older friends outside of work are from late 20s to late 30s and most of them wear classic sneaks and t-shirts. I do not know a single guy out there in the universe that is dapper. Everyone considers dapper guys to be gay.

    The secret is to be versatile really.
    I always thought my 2nd level manager was uptight and boring because it always seemed like he wore the same khaki pants, white striped tucked in dress shirt, and probably some Dr Scholls everyday. Ofc he’s gonna have that manager like appearance, very Steve Jobs’ish. He’s like 42 and I’m 38 so we’re close in age.
    However when we had a bowling party for our section, he wore an Iverson Jersey and some new all white air forces. I was a bit shocked because I didn’t know he was about that. I still rock jerseys and sneakers so I was surprised. I’ve never seen dude so relaxed and less serious, he was even taking shots and went bar hopping with some of my other coworkers afterwards. It was a side of him I’ve never seen and tbh, it was cool because now I knew he wasn’t a robot lol.

    Hey Marcel, interessantes Video! Ich finde auch, das man das tragen sollte, in dem man sich selbstbewusst und komfortabel fühlt. Mich wieder mal interessieren wie es bei dir war? Deine Style Journey hat wahrscheinlich schon in deine Teenage years angefangen. Wie alt warst du eigentlich als du nach NYC gezogen bist? Was würdest du jungen Leuten raten, die jetzt ihre 20er starten? Ich wünsche Dir noch einen schönen Tag! :)

    So glad to see you are not all tattooed and weird piercings. I think young people are going to regret as they get older.

    30s style can be carried through 50s. Even 60s by staying in shape. Guy in his 40s and 50s dressed like 20 somethings looks stupid
