I completely agree that the new phones are way too expensive. I boycotted the iPhone X because it was too expensive and I didn't want to encourage Apple (or any other company) to charge their customers $1000 for a phone. It's ridiculous. Unfortunately, everyone else decided to buy the iPhone X at its ridiculous price point and not only showed Apple this was a good idea, they showed all the other companies it was a good idea too. Now Samsung is doing it and Apple upped their prices again. I want the iPhone Xs, but not at this price. If you're an iPhone user and your phone works just fine, resist the temptation to buy the new Xs and keep your phone (or buy the "cheaper" Xr or iPhone 8) so that they bring the prices down next year.
Most likely not going to happen, since the temptation of bragging rights over having an expensive phone will overcome even the most sensible people in this world.
This doesn't happen only in the phone industry . Nvidia is charging 1500euro for a graphics card because they people will buy it . Early 2017 the graphics card prices blew up more than 50% because of cryptocurrency and still people bought the same exact card which used to cost 500$ for 1100-1600$ . These companies know that people will but anything with any prices strapped into them as long as it is the best . Although unlike Nvidia who don't have any competition , there are other better choices than buying apple phone.

I paid $1099 for the XS Max at 12:01am when preorders started and I’m happily waiting for my phone. With that being said I understand I’m blessed to be able to afford to pay for subjectively superior appearance and quality. However, for me at least, the price only could be justified because I run my business from my phone, and I need the tried and true reliability of Apple coupled with the seamlessness of the Apple ecosystem with my Mac and MacBook.
TLDR, iPhones makes sense for SOME people, myself included, but they’re still F****** expensive. I shouldn’t have to take out a mortgage for my smart phone.

Every time I consider trying another iPhone I see increasingly ridiculous pricing. The 512GB XS Max is $2000 in Canada. I would need at least the 256 GB version, and the regular 256 GB XS is $1600. I have a hard time justifying half that. It's not about being cheap, poor, etc. That's just ridiculous for a phone. If I ended up breaking a $2000 phone that would be quite aggravating. If I break a $600-$800 phone it's a bit annoying but then I just get an upgrade.
It's still less expensive than it is in India.. the price of the XS Max in the Indian market is almost $2000.
It is hard to believe that pocophone and Iphone XS max released around the same time frame, where one company is doing everything to get maximum for minimum price and the other trying to give as less as possible for the maximum price. Completely 2 end of the spectrum

I genuinely believe that the XR will devalue the current view of these apple smartphones, it's a budget model being priced at a premium, and the XR is absolute trash, with a 720 lcd screen and wider bezels, it looks like absolute shite and it's embarrassing for the company.

Richard S I agree that Apple should include a fast charger since the phones are capable of it but I suspect most iPhone users also have an iPad and you can use that charger and get almost the same speed of charge as buying the expensive optional charger. Making this kind of non issue.

Killer Terror I don’t think you actually understand how it all works hahaha we aren’t talking about a bank loan for a mortgage, we are talking about 80-100 dollars a month to have a phone that costs over 1000 dollars and when you want to upgrade 12 months later, your contract simply moves over to the new device. You can cancel it at anytime and if you’re working and earning a reasonable living I very much doubt the small monthly payments are going to be a hassle 😆

As a 17 year exclusively Apple user - I’m getting tired of getting ripped off - in particular if there’s no more good value option. Apple always had a good value option until 2018, when they killed off the only good value phone with a great pocket form factor. I cannot stand Android, or Windows - but really just tired of throwing money at Apple
