My mom is 88 years with dementia. Her fasting glucose was 102. Her endocrinologist and Primary Dr. Said nothing. I cut the ice cream, breakfast cereals, sugar etc. out. I noticed the effect on her memory. Her most recent fasting glucose was improved at 87. The endocrinologist responds by saying “she can have ice cream, she’s not diabetic. She doesn’t have to worry”. THIS is why we have problems.
There is no profit in cures, only in treatments. The medical racket needs customers - lots of them, and so it needs to keep people chronically I’ll. Dementia has also been linked to long term living in smoggy areas. People in the American southwest have a 37% higher level of heart disease and lung cancer due to filthy air.
They want us to be sick, obviously. If only people ate healthy and exercised regularly, we wouldn’t have 75% of doctors that are useless. Pharma is evil and that’s how they make $$ by keeping people sick
My mom is 87 and getting dementia. She eats a lot of sweets. My a1c is 5.2 but i consistently have fasting blood glucose over 100. I'm trying to get it down. I'm in my mid 60s
You changed my life, man. 6 months ago I randomly saw your video about cutting out sugar for 30 days. From there I started consuming content about health and it’s completely changed my life. I’ve never felt so good. I appreciate you! 😁
Same as Alex, discovered Dr Ekberg last Autumn, and I nearly eliminated some long term health issues and as a bonus look nearly 10 years younger. So good to find easy to understand and more importantly, actionable information. God bless this man!
"Doctors are stuck..." - true dat! I went sugar-free in January; a weird COVID effect - can't stand the taste of it anymore. Nevertheless, my blood sugar stayed abnormally high and my blood pressure wouldn't come back into healthy range. I had been taking Metformin and Triplixam - a three-hit blood pressure medication for about 8 months. After the latest blood test, which showed my sugar levels unchanged despite being 3 months sugar-free (and low carb), I told the doc I wanted off meds to see where my new baseline is. "Oh, no. You'll have to be on meds for the rest of your life", she said, prescribing me yet another round of Triplixam and a different glucose-lowering medication. And then, I discovered Triplixam is proven to raise blood sugar and the Metformin alternative is not indicated for hypothyroid patients like me. I am now meds (and sugar) free. My blood pressure is back in the normal range and my bloated belly is gone. No idea what my sugar is but I'm not having hypoglycemic attacks anymore and my vision is much clearer. My doctor is fired.
Way to go! You became your own advocate, did your research and beat the odds. Sooo many people just blindly follow their doctors. This isn’t to say traditional doctors can’t help, but you have to listen to your instincts and be your own advocate these days. Way to go in getting off the meds, feeling better and listening to your instincts!
Ironically, having bought into Low carb for 8 years & having little success other than benefitting from no longer eating nutrient-robbing refined wheat/gluten, which in itself solved several issues, I had to give it up in the end when my struggling digestion refused to digest animal protein any longer & my insulin resistance went into orbit & not even injected insulin could get my blood sugar down, whilst it seemed very counter-intuitive, I had no option but to go plant-based. I just juiced for the first month (no fats or oils), & whilst my blood sugar remained high for the month as my body cleared out the ectopic fat, by the end of the month my blood sugar dropped, my insulin sensitivity returned & I had to radically cut my insulin intake by more than half (50+ units to 20-25 or even less if I eat no added fat or oil), despite eating loads of (natural) carbs. I also started to lose the weight I’d gained (30+lbs) on LC. I loved LC because it gave me ‘permission’ to indulge my love of fatty foods. I’m a self-confessed fat addict. I love it. But it doesn’t love me. My body has no issues burning carbs - with no fat. But having experimented, the more fat I include, the worse my insulin resistance & the more insulin I need to get my blood sugar down. Some do well on LCHF but I found all it did was ‘manage’ my diabetes - until it didn’t any more. Eating HCLF works far better for my body.
Thank you for sharing this important message with everyone. My husband has been able to bring his A1C down from 10.7 to 5.7 over a few years with a healthy low carb diet only. No medication or insulin. I have lost about 60 lbs. by eating the way you recommend. And we both feel so much better!
@@peperodriguez9961 🌸 I should imagine it’s healthy normal levels, based on what she said. Try a healthy keto, no carbs & no sugar. You will reverse anything you were developing ok. I stopped all sugars items last year in December, I am trying to stopping carbs, my partner keeps cooking it. I have to to be firm now, because I did 3 mths pure healthy keto, no carbs & saw amazing results. I did intermittent fasting also, especially to recover from those blooming carbs
We are not super strict, but avoid the obvious things like bread, pasta, rice, sugar. Lots of salad, nuts, meat, berries, avocados, some dairy. But now we feel unwell when we eat the high carb foods.
@@elainejeremy8484 I'm really confused, everyone says by adopting a keto diet they lost so much weight... but I am skinny and never had a weight problem, on the contrary, I struggle to not loose weight. i eat mostly carbs and my weight stays the same. So does it make sense for me to start keto? I just want to have a healthy body, but I don't want to lose weight.
Dr. Sten, following your low carbohydrate diet in 6 months my HbA1c went from 7.2% to 5.5% and this morning my blood sugar was 76 mg/dL I feel great, I don't have swollen feet, dizziness, and frequent urination (like every 2 hrs during the night) and I lost 20 lbs (9 kg) Thank you for your recommendations.
Wonderful video Dr. Sten! ❤ I've been eating this way for 11 years now and my weight, health and performance is rock solid stable. I no longer have cravings. I fast intermittently and exercise regularly. I have completely reversed Type 2 Diabetes and do not take any medications.
That’s wonderful. People don’t know they’re causing their own disease. The corporate food industry, pharmaceutical companies and medical-industrial complex don’t want them to know. People also get incensed if the subject of personal responsibility is raised. Nowadays they even claim it’s racist.
Hi Doc i have t2d thats why i did my 7 days fasting, i am on my way today is my 2nd day of my water fast. Now i tested my blood sugar its now 6.1 before the highest is 8.7. i am very happy
I spread stens message to anyone striving for better health… Sten changed my life, lost 35lbs in 2 and a half months, got off Type 2 diabetic medications, got off blood pressure medication, improved my labs(inflammatory markers). Most importantly I feel healthier, look healthier, feel 20 years younger, happiest positive mindset, energy level is like a fit 20 yr old… I’m 55! I amazed myself and my family and friends… it’s all true! It’s 100% possible. My key is to implement Stens info daily, listen and learn daily, only grocery shop for Sten foods… and I’m always enjoying my meals… that’s so amazing to me… I wish everyone great success… embrace the lifestyle and journey… it’s truly a gift to have access to Stens knowledge… Ty Sten… I love you!
Thanks for "Clarifying" (double meaning). 1. Thanks for making it more clear as in understandable. 2. Ghee is 'clarified,' --> it has a higher smoke point (485 degrees Fahrenheit) compared to butter (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
THANK YOU! Dear doctor, in short, you saved my life. I wish you all the best. (I lost 15 kg because I recognized that I was eating wrong, I recognized insulin resistance and initial dementia. Now I feel great.)You have become our motivational family doctor. I have a doctor, but you are an great inspiration to me and my family , with your detailed explanations. Greetings from Serbia, Belgrade.🦋💖🍀
I could be a perfect example, poster child for your research and information. I was 325 pound (middle aged female) when I started keto and IF. I've been a truck driver for over 18 years. And have struggled with my weight and yoyo dieted since I was 10 years old, especially with the low fat craze, back in the 90s, losing and gaining 100s of pounds. Well I began to notice that if I reduced my calories under 1800 I would get terrible hypoglycemia (but not a diabetic...yet), making it impossible to stick to a diet. But once I started keto and got fat adapted I could go all day without food and without being hungry. I was so skeptical about not eating carbs for so long that it took me a while before I even attempted keto and intermittent fasting, I figured it was another scam or fad, like low fat...but luckily I was wrong and I am down 100 pounds and determined to keep going and not gain back this time. Thank you Dr. Eckberg, you are my hero!
I was full keto (hard core for 3 years), and always felt terrible, but I knew it was a healthy way to eat so I continued. I recently introduced more carbs (on keto I was at about 35-40g per day) to my menu and feel a lot better. So I guess the bottom line is to balance (tweak) the fat, protein and carbs until you have the right combination.
I did that for years and ended up with T2D. That is a high carb amount and eventually your pancreas will become insulin resistant. Reversed my T2D with under 10g. Carbs a day, fat and protein, OMAD. Wish I had known years ago what a high carb diet would eventually lead to. Age 63 , 61 lbs lost in 8 months and zero meds now.
It can depend on how much cardiovascular exercise you do, particularly if you do enough to empty your glycogen stores. I do a lot of exercise and my blood works came back last week as being perfectly normal, despite the fact I eat a reasonable amount of carbs. My preferred diet is: "All things in moderation and a little bit of what you fancy does you good". Of course that does not include fast foods and anything highly processed.
You are so right about doctors not wanting to reverse a problem but fixing it with medications. All three of my doctors are like this, two of them metabolically challenged. Pills are their answer to everything.
it's frustrating, isn't it? I got my mom with T2D, I convinced her to start fasting and a low carb diet but her doc scared her about hypoglycemia and that was the end of it. I can't fight her doctor.
@@fcsoldeu5338 I'm sorry to hear that. Im my years on earth I've learned that MD after their name is as much a liability than a credibility title. I know nurses and PAs who give better advice than real docs.
@@fcsoldeu5338 See if she will start with just low carbs. I am hypoglycemic and fasting doesn't work for me. You have to be really fat adapted and that takes time. I am an older female and have listened to all the online doctors and respect them for their views. But I think older females are in a different category and need to be very mindful of how metabolically damaged we are and correct that with digestive aids, foods to correct leaky gut etc. One size does NOT fit all.Lots of beef, butter and sauerkrt.
Thank you for the great simplified information. I love it. I am a medical doctor and tired of the growing list of diabetic medications that are making things worse and are not treating the cause of the disease but rather treating numbers. Drug companies are advocating that diabetes is not reversible and once you are diagnosed, half of your beta cells are gone. If so how obese patients are cured after bariatric surgeries. I advise many patients to do exactly what you are teaching. Cannot thank you enough.
This guy deserves a medal - and a TV show .. his content is GOLD and he is potentially saving so many lives. Thank you so much Dr Sten Ekberg. Cheers and love from Singapore.
I’m 62, Type 2. First diagnoses sugar was at 500. Been on Metformin. Stopped alcohol and started eating better 4 months ago. Started working out HIIT 24 days ago. Stopped taking Metformin and has sugar down 120. Did my first 24 hour fast and when I checked sugar this am, it was 185! Freaked out. Thankfully I knew I could count on you to explain it. Doc, you are truly and inspiration. THANK YOU!
I can relate, when I first started LCHF a nurse at the hospital diabetes clinic said that a very low carb diet could cause hypo with my meds, when I said, "Well, why don't we just cut the dose of the meds?" She sat there with her mouth hanging open because she simply hadn't considered that logical solution.
Thank you Dr. Ekberg🙂 I have watched many of your videos, and you basically brainwashed me into being healthy. You explain everything very scientifically and even I understand easily. I lost about 40lbs easily. On low carb. I felt full and I fee very healthy. Still working on fasting and meditation. But you inspired me to take care of my well being. Thank you so very much. God bless you.
As a type 1 diabetic since 30 years, I've had low levels often enough. I think my lowest was 27mg/100. I feel fine above 60 and below 200. But the moment I focus and go on a low carb diet and stick to an 18/6 or 16/8 fast, my glucose levels are much more stable and so are my energy levels.
I have T2D, and I used to have high blood pressure as well. I started high fat-low carb diet at the very beginning of this year, and the results are beyond all my expectations. I lost 40 kg (actually today is when the 40 mark is reached - I was grade III obese, now I am "just" overweight), and I completely stopped the diabetes medication three months ago. The same with blood pressure medication. It is very true what you said about the risk of hypoglycemia. I did OMAD for about two months (now I am eating twice a day), and I had measured the blood sugar levels at least 4 times a day. I can confirm that after more than 18 hours of fasting, AND more than 50 km of continuous biking (or 90 minutes of running, or 1hour of swimming) my blood sugar level was NEVER to low. Even my diabetes doctor here in Finland was amazed by the results. He measured the level of ketones, and he could confirm that I am in a very "powerful" state of ketosis, so that my body is like a very efficient fat burning machine. I also use an application that monitor the three nutrients, and the last 4 week averages are 5% carbs (net), 20% protein, and 74% fat. Again I want to thank you, for providing very valuable information that literally can save lives. I also read a lot and follow doctors that promote this type of lifestyle.
Three weeks after dumping wheat/gluten, my blood pressure dropped & I threw the horrible BP meds away. That was 14 years ago & I’ve never needed them since. And by getting plenty of potassium in my diet, my BP is now ‘perfect’ according to the nurse, at 126/74 (I’m in my mid 60’s).
currently in Finland too. Got diagnosed with T2D, Doctor said I don't need to avoid carbs because I might have ketoacidosis. Lowered my carbs anyway after seeing no better result with my blood sugar and did Intermittent fasting even if they said I should never be hungry and eat atleast 3 times a day and never ever skip meals, my glucose is now in normal and my headaches are getting lesser. I hope this kind of knowledge will wake up all diabetes Doctors :(
I am unable to exercise due to some widespread arthritis and neuropathy...I can experience debilitating cramps reaching for a glass of water! My weight has been shooting up despite limiting my caloric intake, so I recently decided to intermittently fast, before I knew what such a thing was. I went from 285 pounds to 270 in two weeks, and mentioned it to my uncle. He pointed me towards Dr. Ekberg's videos, and after absorbing a bunch, I have started a five-day water only fast (pray for me!) to hopefully "reset" my body, after which I will be going to an 18 hour fast cycle with a 48 or 72 hour fast every month. I will be dropping my carbs to below 50 grams a day, and see what happens. Thanks, doc!
@@ALEXANDERJMORGAN I am down below 250 for the first time in 20 years. (Slower weight loss than I'd like, but I AM losing, so yay!) I found that my body actually responds better to a 48 hour fast than a 72 hour, and I start every month with one now. And a bonus to cutting out almost all sugar: I used to eat 5,000-6,000 mg of calcium carbonate (Tums) a day and had horrible GERD. Haven't needed a single antacid since my initial 5-day fast, and GERD is under control.
Many years ago I had an experience with fasting & homeostasis. From the age of 11 through to @ 35 I had on and off ulcerative colitis. Every where I went the 1st thing on my list was to determine where the bathrooms were located ! Sometime in my 30s I saw an article which extoled the benefits of fasting to rectify health problems. So I did a 6 day fast. I drank water, bone broth, herbal tea, a multi vitamin & electrolytes. After 2 days my apatite went away - switched over to burning fat stores. After a day of working at my motorcycle repair shop I would meet a tennis buddy & play 2 or 3 hrs / sets. I actually seemed mentally sharper & had plenty of energy. On the 6th day I started feeling a bit hungry. My colitis had disappeared so slowly I begin eating small amounts of food. My G. I. tract did a reset to ' Normal ' & I have not had any bouts of colitis since ! I'm now 72 & my A1C has been going up so I have started a new fast. Thanks for this article / video.
You really changed my life. Since I was diagnosed with diabetes, i followed your vedio. Over two years I'm not on medication. My blood sugar is almost normal. Yesterday I had my fasting blood sugar 6.2 mmol/l and A1C was 5.9mmol/l. May God bless you to serve lives of humanity? Amen!
Thank you for these videos. I have diabetes type two, and yes I was told to incorporate carbs into my diet. I wanted to change my lifestyle but the information available to me was gearing me towards take your medication/have some carbs and so forth! Until I found myself in hospital for a very high blood sugar! I went from Metformin 500 to 4 insulins a day! I stayed in the hospital for 5 days and I was released with 4 injection of insulin a day! No mention about my weight and how important it was for my welling. Practically no education was provided to me by my GP! The hospital on the other hand, had nurse who was specialised in diabetes visit me everyday, answer all of my questions, provide links to websites I can read more about my illness, and so forth. This was helpful, eye opening and I was referee to person-centred healthcare in the community. I had access to a nurse and a dietitian who followed me up for up to six months. I was shocked and I was not sure how I got here! Now, that I had a little of understanding of what I was dealing with! i decided I would be active and walk! However, due to being on insulin, my sugar would drop very quickly! I had a dairy for a month recording 5, 4, or 3 blood sugar which is very low for me! However, the hospital doctor suggest I have Gluccojel at hand so I can consume it and he insisted I should keep on taking the insulin injections! I felt all I did was the more I walked I need to eat more Gluccojel which felt like I was not making progress! I become anxious (interesting how our brain associates events with fear and reacts to them protectively), every time I tried to walk! I thought surely, there is another productive way of dealing with this! I had enough, and I decided to do my own homework! I found a Canadian doctor (Jason Fung), on TH-cam. He spoke about intermittent fasting, and how it can reverse diabetes, I thought hmm interesting! I watched many of his videos and looked up some of the studies he mentioned. Then, I found a dietitian (Autumn), who expanded on the fasting, keto diet and so forth. I spent the next 6 months researching (evidence based), and trying to understand the science behind the impact different types of food has on our bodies, healthy fats vs carbs/sugar, greens and proteins, autophagy, ketosis. What is healthy BMI. I learned how stress and the habit we pick also play role in weight gain. Then, I looked into mental health, and how it impacts our behaviour, diet, mentality and so forth. As a student of psychology myself, I decided I would gear my psych reports and research in this area, and I would present passionately about the topic of health, diet, physically active and the role psychological wellbeing plays role and how psychologists can play role in helping/educating people of this link. I looked into weight loss! So, I learned about walking 10k a day, doing cardio for 3 days a week. Now, that I am well informed of food, body, mind and methods of working with all of these, I decided to fast and do keto diet! My blood sugar improved dramatically, I learned ways of improving stress management, and being active physically. I have lost 22 kilos, the last average (3*3 months), came back 5, and my daily blood sugar is between 5-6. I have energy, my wellbeing is much better and I can do more during my day. I am off diabetes medication despite the hospital doctor wanting for me to continue with insulin, however, my GP was happy with the 3 monthly average I have been getting so she was happy for me to stop the medication. There is a gab between the lay person to know all of these, the doctors to see beyond meds and work with other allied health practitioners to ensure people are rehabilitated from every area that impacts healthy eating, wellbeing, knowledge and motivation.
Great lecture. I love how Dr Ekberg educates so thoroughly on this topic. It's also another reminder that details are important, and we shouldn't trust titles and headlines of articles as being completely honest or informative.
Thanks, Doc. I have been a subscriber for four months and the advice you give is the best and most comprehensive that I have found on YT! If people take the time and absorb the info in your presentations I am certain that they will have a fully-rounded health and nutrition education. You are basically giving college-level instruction for free! Kudos! Plus, I have personally benefited from substantial weight loss and better blood glucose levels. I am 74 and can attest that the results are gained quickly if one should decide to follow your advice!
Best video on lowering blood sugar! Thank you so much! Ghee is called “clarified butter.” You make it by boiling all the water out. Use unsalted butter. It’s so simple to make! I’m married to a man who is originally from India. It’s delicious!
Dr. Ekbert, you have been a godsend for me I have increased my health and have gone from pre-diabetic to normal ACL and lost over 90 pounds and 5 pant sizes over 24 month on the Carnivore diet lifestyle. I have not had gout flare-ups since then too. Thanks for breaking down how the body works with his fat high protein and low carb lifestyle.
Dr. Ekgerg, I want to thank you so much for the time you take with all of the topics that you share with us. I've got so many health issues I can't even count them anymore. I know all the info that you share will help me once I start following it all. I've got my new notebook and about 10 pens, and I'm about to start going through all your videos. The info you share is so vital to me right now. You're about to save my life, Dr Ekberg. Thanks again, so much.
Dr. Ekberg, you are a blessing to the world. A rare combination of knowledge and methodology. The fact that English is not your mother tongue helps a lot, because your accent is clear and distinct. I learn a lot from your videos . A question about eating meat and dairy products - both are considered inflammatory foods. Are we not harming the body on the way to the desired goal of lowering insulin? I live in Israel and have had the privilege of meeting hundreds of Holocaust survivors. For many years they lived on a diet of 150-300 calories per day (in the concentration and death camps) paradoxically, these people are healthier and live longer than people who lived a normal life and ate abundantly. After what I learned from you, it's much less paradoxical.
Excellent content and explanation Dr.Ekberg. Chanced upon your video 9 months ago and slowly adapted my lifestyle. First change was the reduction of eating window to about 6 - 8 hours along with sugar / carb reduction (first meal is only after 12:00 noon & only couple for sugarless black coffees in the morning) I could reduce my weight by about 14 Kgs. Chanced upon your video when my doctor was trying me to agree for a newly developed injection which could reduce my appetite (which was not a problem for me in the first place). Excellent work which would be beneficial to many people. Food & Medical world is highly commercialized and profit is the primary target over people’s life quality today. Many thanks for the good work.
Great video, Dr E! I'm not overweight, slim actually, but never felt great. I thought I had IBS. Started following this Dr's advice and strategy a few months ago and feel so much better! Bloat is gone, hunger satiated, bathroom trips totally normal and healthy. Feel reborn!
@@angeliaspeight6009 stopped eating oatmeal entirely. Throttled back on all the bread and pasta. Omitted breakfast bars entirely. Backed way off on the sugar - mostly cheap chocolate like m&ms and finally say NO to donuts. Eat more red meat, salad, greens, and plain yogurt made with whole milk. Those are the big moves. I generally feel way better.
I been type 2 diabetic and been eating Omad for almost a year, I didn’t think I could do it but I did it. I don’t even think of eating,no hypoglycemia. Inthe beginning yah but it got better . As a T2d with no gall bladder, I find low carb, medium fat and medium protein works best for me. Protein and low starch veggies with butter or olive oil during the week only. My added weekend treat is frozen, mixed berries (2 tbs) with creme fraiche (2 tbs) and 95% dark Lindt Chocolate (2 sqs). I still take Metformin twice a day (only have 2 meals a day) but am pretty well there, with reversing it all.
Reduced my weight from.around 350.in six months with diet, a salad or a cheeseburger or a wrap. Skipped breakfast. Then for dinner ate salads. Worked thru out the day in yards. Never chested upon myself. Never weighed myself as weight fluxuates. Never took any meds. Never ate any diet food. Now I know I have high blood sugar as my left eyesight is blurred. Hi Cassie, Larry Thank you Cassie for the idea of the Journal. I also started one as well. I began CARNIVORE one year ago. My body was healing and I learned a lot about myself of how food diary effects my body. Now I am eating one meal a day and doing a 3 day fast through the week. I started BBBE 3weeks ago and lost about 10 pounds. This is the first time I lost weight and kept it off since 1 year I started Carnivore. Thanks both of you for your channel.
I truly appreciate your channel. I'm vegan and will never intentionally consume other animals or animal products but still truly value the information you provide. I follow all your recommendations for a low carb high fat diet, I just have to stop at animals. The information you provide is perfectly suited for the vegan lifestyle as well and hope other vegans find your channel to become knowledgeable on healthy dietary choices.
First, I thank Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe Who guided me to your channel. Secondly,I thank you from the depth of my heart for the help you giving to the people to safe their lives. I am one of them whom you helped safe their lives. I was diagnosed with severe high blood pressure beginning of last year and got 2 medications prescribed and now I live without medication for high blood pressure because I applied every advice of yours in my life. I cut down my weight from 98 kg to 61 in just 6 months (my height is 180 cm). I can’t thank you enough. You have no match when it comes to explaining things. Your pedagogical art is soo unique . You speak powerfully clear and slowly so that every word you utter penetrates the heart. Keep the good work doctor. You saved many lives. Thank you 🙏🏻
I changed my life 6 years ago after getting the flu really bad..I've been doing what you've been saying all on my own..I transformed..into a healthy guy never got sick again and I feel great...even if I'm tired...
When I was in my 30's I had a body mass index of 19% and low triglycerides. My doctor told me to eat more foods like butter and mayonnaise. I didn't like fats, but grew to like rhem. Then I had to fight against too much fat when my BMI went to about 26%. I finally gave up and just ate what I wanted. Now I am on keto and it is pretty good food wise. It just seems to work.
Java plum or Indian blackberry is widely used in india in the powdered form as to control blood sugar levels. Thanks for your videos.. highly enlightening 🙏
Thank you for this video. Two hours ago my mom told me she’s getting further away from pre diabetic but her dr said to still stay on the pills so she can loose weight. I was so upset. Bcuz we all know that’s not how weight loss works.
Thank you for clarifying the butter, thus making it ghee. In baking, Butter is clarified by heating it until the protein and fat separate, then straining it so that protein is left out and the fat is smooth. This is what the joke refers to
The hypoglycemic part was very very informative. Thank you so much. I started keto a month ago and lost 30 lbs . Down to 315 from 345. T2D also. My blood sugar still is stuck between 110 to 140, if I take the metformin or not. I believe it’s causing a blocking effect. Going to stop taking them and monitor my blood 4 times a day and see what happens. I did keto many times and bought the keto test strips but never seem to go into ketosis. Why? Regardless the blood sugar is going down and so is the weight. Thank you so much!
The problem with T2D patients and Hypoglycemia during Intermittent fasting is that most doctors nowadays became drug dealers with a license. They don't want to work (it's easier just to keep prescribing medications) and that's why they tell diabetic patients not to do fasting. They should be sued.
yap...in there clinic(private doctor )maybe 60 percent is pharmacy,10%doctors office 10%waiting area or guest area.and30% for examination area or laboratory
THIS. He nailed it super clear & concise (just like Dr Berg does) For 5 months been doing about ~6 out of the 10 here (mainly the top 6 or so he relayed haha). But I DO also have ~1/2 cup every day of Organic Oats & *low glycemic, low insulin spiking fiber rich carbs. Been maintaining the perfect weight & lowered cholesterol (after initial LDL spike when doing strict Keto). Mediterranean (for me) 🎯 🤩! LOTs of Avocados, Sardines, Salmon, Olives, Olive oil, mixed colored beans, broccoli, cauliflower, diced tomatoes & minimal to NO random, spotty eating at different x. Basically do IF tho if I do get a late night craving I nibble on some olives & frozen broccoli or cauliflower! 😛
Most Dr.s still say do low fat. I trust you and it’s working for me. I’m type 2 and I’m on metformin and want off of it. My blood sugar is running great with this low carb, healthy fat way of eating.. I have cut out sugar and flour as well as white stuff. My A1C was 9.5 in March. Getting it checked again in June. Can’t wait to see it lower.
About the cartoon: Ghee is clarified butter. Hence the play on words where the person says “Ah thanks for clarifying”. The clarification process is about removing the solids in the butter which in chemistry terms are the precipitates once the butter is melted. Those solids/precipitates that are removed are the dairy proteins you were referring to. I hope that has clarified things for you😁
Gee (ghee), you really clarified things for us! With this 10-point list in mind I do all my grocery shopping and consider everything I put in me. Am on Keto & IF since Sept 2020 and grateful to have found Dr Ekberg's channel.
@@drekberg Thank you! Never saw this one before. I like what you said about easing into it. When I first started Keto I went full-bore, and it was complicated like I was balancing spinning plates. This Keto Grocery List video has enough details you can shop with directly.
Between your videos and Dr. Hunninghake at the Riordan Clinic in Wichita.. I was able to drop my a1c from 8.6% to 6.2% and my GGT liver enzyme fell from almost 300 to 109 in 5 months.
Thank you for your excellent content . I have been doing OMAD (Mon to Fri and perhaps 2MAD or 3MAD on weekends)for nearly 2 months and I had lost 4kgs so far. When I had returned to work from my lunch break yesterday, there was a very large person at the office that had asked me if my belly is happier now. I said that I am not sure as I don't eat lunch; she was surprised and concerned about my answer. I am guessing that the concept of OMAD is foreign to her.
I had been on a low carb diet to try to reverse pre diabetes. First 6 months were good but my fasting and average daily glucose started go up until it was around 100 all the time with going up to around 140 when eating. I went back on medium and higher glycemic carbs like beets, carrots, beans and rice over a number of weeks to get my blood glucose back into the normal range of 70s-80s. Low carb long term does actually make you less insulin sensitive. My fasting insulin and c peptide were in a good range.
I really appreciated your information. I would have liked to have learned this when I was younger, but I also know that it is never too late to start becoming aware of our health. Thank you!
Greetings from Denmark! :) Maybe it is because you are Swedish, but I had a hard time to really trust the words of all these youtube experts with various opinions before I found your channel. I've followed the Low-carb - intermittent fasting style for a year now to mainly get rid of headaches derived from stress. Now I can fast for 20 hours and then exercise with a high energy level and my headaches are all gone. Something I thought was completely impossible before. Mange tak! :)
I live in south Texas and have abundance of pecan trees. I mix ground flax and chia seeds with psyllium husk and make a drink of it. Could you do a video on soluble fiber VS non soluble fiber? I am still confused on the difference.
When ever anyone asks me what I've been doing health wise, I always point to Dr. Ekberg first. I look forward each and every Friday for his new videos. I do have a question for my fellow health champions. I get pasture raised eggs from a local small farm here in Ohio. They are always fresh and delicious. Lately I've been making a raw egg shake with almond milk, plain yogurt, a few blueberries, ground flack seed, cocoa and a bit of erythritol / monk fruit. There are two raw eggs in my shake. I'm having this shake mostly everyday as my "first meal" around noon. Is this a good idea? Your thoughts on eating raw eggs. I also have a neighbor who sells duck eggs. Any thoughts on duck eggs?
Thank You Sal Lazuka. The risk of salmonella contamination is far less when the hens are healthy. I have done some smoothies with raw eggs, and I always eat my soft boiled eggs or my pan fried eggs with a runny yolk. Never "caught" anything. 😄
Info is informative and obfuscating at the same time. One living off of alcohol, cake, cookies, and ice cream who is listening to the vagaries of bananas or spinach may be frozen in inaction. Eat eggs, meat (chicken fish beef), soluble fats for a week to experience loss of appetite. Then try to realize the next big picture (e.g. complex carbs are good, simple carbs are to be avoided at all costs; what is a starchy vegetable, etc). Meat, fat, and complex carbs is actually a balanced diet, difficult to achieve until one realizes that they can vaporize their cravings. By the time one reaches their target weight they will likely understand yams.
I went on Keto to reduce my weight so I could have a badly needed total hip replacement.. When I started I was on Lantus, Humalog and an oral medication… As I lost weight I was able to reduce my insulting.. Thank goodness the Medical Weight Loss Clinic at VCU in Richmond, VA had a nurse practitioner who worked with me on my insulin changes.. I fasted from about 7pm to 7am.. I had no problems but we were reducing my insulin slowly.. A few months before surgery I was totally off of all diabetic meds.. After surgery my body was so stressed from the surgery I had to go back on insulin.. Developed breast cancer and had radiation.. Got Covid with acute lung inflammation.. Was on steroids for 10 weeks.. Also had steroids for other reasons.. Blew my blood sugars right up..Have had Shingles twice in the last year.. Gained 10 lbs.. Getting a Continuous Glucose Meter so can keep my blood sugar in better check… The steroids have caused terrible cravings.. I love your videos..Helps me understand what is happening to my body.. Every since I have had so much steroids I have had terrible sweats up to 10-12 times per day.. Thank goodness this has slowed down..

THIS is why we have problems.
why would any doctor say ice cream, which literally destroys the artery and vascular health, is ok especially for someone with dementia
Fire her doctors
There is no profit in cures, only in treatments. The medical racket needs customers - lots of them, and so it needs to keep people chronically I’ll. Dementia has also been linked to long term living in smoggy areas. People in the American southwest have a 37% higher level of heart disease and lung cancer due to filthy air.
They want us to be sick, obviously. If only people ate healthy and exercised regularly, we wouldn’t have 75% of doctors that are useless. Pharma is evil and that’s how they make $$ by keeping people sick

How has it changed your life?
You should file a complaint against the doc to relevant authorities if you can spare the time and energy. Even consider a malpractice suit.
You can almost see the word "triple" in "triplixam". That might be a clue.

Rick 💯
I'm about where you were. You moved me. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely for you! Keep on trucking, literally and figuratively.
@@marianne1959 So now you can eat carbs again without sugar spikes?
Absolutely, I function better with a 40-50 gram carb diet. The weight loss on full keto was rewarding but I can’t sustain a diet severely keto
Me2. Felt horrible for 3 months. Increased carbs just a little and feel much better and still losing weight.

I can relate, when I first started LCHF a nurse at the hospital diabetes clinic said that a very low carb diet could cause hypo with my meds, when I said, "Well, why don't we just cut the dose of the meds?"
She sat there with her mouth hanging open because she simply hadn't considered that logical solution.
When you are doing low carb & fasting do you have to lower your amount of insulin?
Without medication?
Impressive results. You put the work in.
currently in Finland too.
Is this working for you?

😅
You really changed my life. Since I was diagnosed with diabetes, i followed your vedio. Over two years I'm not on medication. My blood sugar is almost normal. Yesterday I had my fasting blood sugar 6.2 mmol/l and A1C was 5.9mmol/l.
May God bless you to serve lives of humanity? Amen!

Recently I was diagnosed as t2d
How you manage the stress?

If people take the time and absorb the info in your presentations I am certain that they will have a fully-rounded health and nutrition education. You are basically giving college-level instruction for free! Kudos!
Plus, I have personally benefited from substantial weight loss and better blood glucose levels. I am 74 and can attest that the results are gained quickly if one should decide to follow your advice!
My wife has been diagnosed as diabetic. Your video has given us excellent guidance on what she can safely eat. Thank you, doctor.
Best video on lowering blood sugar! Thank you so much!
Ghee is called “clarified butter.”
You make it by boiling all the water out.
Typo Dr. Ekberg
Always amazed me that the healthiest foods are the ones the docs tell us NOT to eat, or eat extremely small amounts of.
Doc, you really know how to explain things so well. I consider you the best Dr on TH-cam.
happy to inform you with my steady blood sugar my eyesight also got better and had to go for a lower power glasses than the previous one😊
First change was the reduction of eating window to about 6 - 8 hours along with sugar / carb reduction (first meal is only after 12:00 noon & only couple for sugarless black coffees in the morning)
I could reduce my weight by about 14 Kgs.
Jacob 🎈
You are one of the BEST Doctors I have ever had the privilege of listening to. Clear and precise
What changes did you make.
I generally feel way better.
check out the plant paradox book- you will learn a ton. i liked the audible version better.
P0p
I been type 2 diabetic and been eating Omad for almost a year, I didn’t think I could do it but I did it. I don’t even think of eating,no hypoglycemia. Inthe beginning yah but it got better . I totally sugar in everything, except those things I eat w sugar.I’m off medications for diabetes for along time now.
You have changed our lives forever... you are a life doctor not a medical doctor...
We love you kind sir🙌🏻❤️
As a T2d with no gall bladder, I find low carb, medium fat and medium protein works best for me. Protein and low starch veggies with butter or olive oil during the week only. My added weekend treat is frozen, mixed berries (2 tbs) with creme fraiche (2 tbs) and 95% dark Lindt Chocolate (2 sqs). I still take Metformin twice a day (only have 2 meals a day) but am pretty well there, with reversing it all.
Thank you so much Doctor for your care & sharing your knowledge for everyone. May God bless you !
Been looking for advice. Am 60.years old now. Thank you for the advice as it makes total sense.
Always great visualization and examples I can borrow for my patients!!! Thank you Dr. Ekberg!
Hi Cassie, Larry
Thank you Cassie for the idea of the Journal.
Great explanation ….and when one understands properly ONLY THEN can one move forward …THANK YOU !
Thank you 🙏🏻
Women sure don’t thank Allah. The Koran teaches that women are 1/2 a man. No we’re not. 😏
I changed my life 6 years ago after getting the flu really bad..I've been doing what you've been saying all on my own..I transformed..into a healthy guy never got sick again and I feel great...even if I'm tired...
Thank you Dr. Ekberg❤️
•-• AMLA powder - India gooseberry is also helpful 👌
You are awesome. Your manner of delivery and details leave nothing to be desired. Your disposition is sincerely appreciated. Thank you
Your channel is pure gold!
This is what the joke refers to
Thanks for clarifying? Ghee is also called "clarified" butter.
Concern would be the darker leaves containing a bigger amount of oxalic acid, such as kale and spinach. I would consume them with moderation.
I've been following your suggestions, and feel worlds better after just 14 days. Thank you for caring, Dr. Ekberg.
You're the best God bless you doc.
The problem with T2D patients and Hypoglycemia during Intermittent fasting is that most doctors nowadays became drug dealers with a license. They don't want to work (it's easier just to keep prescribing medications) and that's why they tell diabetic patients not to do fasting. They should be sued.
But they are the untouchables in our society
yap...in there clinic(private doctor )maybe 60 percent is pharmacy,10%doctors office 10%waiting area or guest area.and30% for examination area or laboratory
Wow! He tells the real truth against a system of lies! Bold! Brave!
Thanks for clarifying, doctor Ekberg ♥️😄
I got it Doc Thanks for clarifying in the advert the difference between butter and ghee is Ghee is Clarified Butter.
lose the oats.
I hope that has clarified things for you😁
This is a perfect video to show to my friend who was just diagnosed with type 2 NIDDM.
Gee (ghee), you really clarified things for us! With this 10-point list in mind I do all my grocery shopping and consider everything I put in me. Am on Keto & IF since Sept 2020 and grateful to have found Dr Ekberg's channel.
Wonderful! I do have a video on a Keto Grocery List th-cam.com/video/9SUt7PEB3-c/w-d-xo.html
@@drekberg Thank you! Never saw this one before. I like what you said about easing into it. When I first started Keto I went full-bore, and it was complicated like I was balancing spinning plates. This Keto Grocery List video has enough details you can shop with directly.
I'm feeling healthier just hearing this message. 👍
Make a video about insulin resistance vs insulin sensitivity.
Between your videos and Dr. Hunninghake at the Riordan Clinic in Wichita.. I was able to drop my a1c from 8.6% to 6.2% and my GGT liver enzyme fell from almost 300 to 109 in 5 months.
You changed my life thank you !
Trimakasoh Dokter your infotmasi
Hey Doc! Your content as always is top notch, but your presentation has really gotten quite good 👍🏽😉 thx ‼️
Thanks! May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
Great information! Thank you so much, Dr. Ekberg!
Chase🎈
Wish all doctors were as informed as you. Thank you.

I mix ground flax and chia seeds with
psyllium husk and make a drink of it. Could you do a video on soluble fiber VS non soluble fiber?
I am still confused on the difference.
Providing humanity with education and enlightenment. Thank you!
Eric😊
Thanks so much, you had my attention to whole time!🇨🇦
Thanks for clarifying? Ghee clarified butter, means butter heated and the dairy separated from the fat.
best solution: limit carbs especially sugar. Also fasting is great to undo the damage.
Tack för att du delar med dig av all din kunskap! 🙏 Hej från Sverige 🇸🇪🤗
Hi Dr. love your channel. Can you do a video on how and when to check blood sugar? Also I’d like to know more about how sugar is controlled by the body, and how it is actually used by the body
Thanks for "clarifying the butter" misconception.
Your videos are so educational and encouraging ❤ thank you! So far I have lost 60 pounds. I have 15-20 more to go! My blood glucose is lower, I sleep better. Thank you 😊
Go slow or you can lose your gallbladder like I did. Look it up- it's a thing. Nice doggy.
You are amazing.. God bless you and other holistic doctors striving to educate everyone on health!!!
