I was in middle school and this song hit so hard for our generation. Won a talent show in the 8th grade singing it with my homeboy who I went on to later be in an R&B group with right after college.
It is a classic and their first single and it was a smash hit. They were teenage boys the lead singer was 19 and he was the main writer of their songs. He was talking to young ladies the way young guys wanted to. It was a whole vibe and still is. Maybe you will like a few of their other songs. Here are a couple of titles. Slide Over, In My Room, Deep Inside Your Love,Love You Down,In My Room
Angela, I think you would have to be a part of those times to understand the progression of sensual music for r&b. I remember buying this album as a teenager and it was a combination of sensuality and rhythm that made this group alluring. This was the era of New Edition, Boys 2 Men and those groups that followed with harder stuff. RFTW was timid compared to what was to come!!!!! 😮😮
Ready for the World 🌎 like many artist's back in the 80's often "beat around the bush" unlike today when they mention every part of the human anatomy without hesitation or shame,so technically they really was getting us "Ready for the World" 🌎,...the World of music 🎶🎤 and the World ( in general ) that we live in Today 😅❤
@@smoothoperator7023 Yes indeed.. "Beating round the Bush" is a old classic line used to when referring to sex or any kind of Grown up stuff !!! Basically they usually kept all their song's "clean" and/ or kid friendly.. Clean for the Elderly, Grandparents and all the christian minded, bible loving people during that time period 💯 😂😆
@@laurajohnson2387 true, but still they kept it relatively" Clean" compared to some song's being recorded today !!!! Probably the most dirtiest thing they said in this song is when he said " you so wet" and that could be referring to being caught the rain 🌧️ or taking a shower 🚿 or anything!!!! 😂
It doesn't float my 🚢⛵ boat! I may have suggested this following song before, but here goes regardless! It came out in 1982, and it's by the band Imagination, and 😊🦊🕯️🎄☃️the song is Just An Illusion It's a very mystical song with a very profound and intriguing theme Check it out 🌅🌄Toodles
I was just a little kid when this came out…and I remember all the “grown” people singing it.. I think RFTW had a “couple” of songs very similar to this “Slide Over” and “Out of Town Lover”(which is probably my favorite) but I can understand why people would not like it! But I 💯 appreciate your honesty it is why I am a proud supporter of your channel 🙏🏻❤️💯
Deep Inside Your Love, - My Girly,> Gently.Late Saturday Night > It's All Up To You> Money > Long Time Coming>Digital Display>Slide Over check all these out by the same group
All music isn't for everyone, especially when it's generational. I was 13 when it came out and it hit different back then. Idk. I don't like the music of today so I understand. But our generation did spawn "Against All Odds" so we had a few bangers that transcend generations.
Ok…..they were 19 ish at the time. They were trying to be as sexual as Prince, but, couldn’t quite pull it off. I like it back in 85 as I was 14. Of course, what’s on a 14 year old boys mind but girls. Begging for tonight. 😂
Girl...don’t act like you don’t have some Chris Brown songs in your phone. C’mon now, Angela. Breezy gets MUCH more explicit than this AND we rock with it. Nothing wrong with not feeling “Tonight” but the way you were “shocked” had me looking @ you sideways. ✌🏽
That's right Angela,..if this was too much for you ,don't listen to the explicit versions of Offset, Megan the Stallion,Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj and other's...they ain't holding nothing back today talking about Azz,Dick, Vagina, the P word, eating ,licking, sucking and smashing all part's of the body and everything!!!! So Angela, you ain't gotta like Ready for the World, but at least they had some form of decency and didn't make too much music 🎶 you couldn't listen to around Momma, Grandma or Kid's 😅😂
@@tonysmith-fx5mqYup, THAT was my point! Angela’s generation and Gen Z have grown up with EXPLICIT lyrics that LEAVE NOTHING to the imagination (like you pointed out). But here comes Angela acting all “new” and prudish like she’s never listened to Chris Brown, Usher, Trey Songz and them. I guess it’s bc she’s listening to this in _mixed company_ and feels she needs to front. 🙄 Angela, no offense but just wanted to keep it a buck re: this issue. ✌🏽
I did not put the cap back on the bottle of soda....you know what?.............it was a bit flat for me. HEY guess what - I unfortunately drove over a nail and.......(ahhh never mind).
Hi Angela! If I had the guts to make a reaction video to your reaction video, I would send it to you to make a reaction video about it. I like you very much!
U can’t love them all… Everything isn’t always so called positive lady. It’s a lot of songs u may not care for, that’s why it’s called reaction videos. Take care, love wat u do. Keep moving….
You're a grown woman and you can't say the word "wet"? This is an awesome song and far better than the songs of the so called artist of your generation. Sorry you don't like great music.
@@kimmarievan-ever6599 - I think it was sarcastic statement... wasn't it? I thought the lyrics were hilarious. No one can take this seriously now-a-days.
This is probably the lousiest song I've ever heard on your channel and I was laughing 10 times more than you were. I remember Oh Shiela and that song was perfectly alright but, good lord, this one was just Ugh! This one was so awful it would fit right in with the crap they play in the 2000's!

"Love You Down" from 1986 is a good Ready For The World ballad. One of my favorites from them.
Yup. I like “Love You Down” as well. ✌🏽

I love the instrumentals of this song... I like the song also
The power of words goes a long way! He was quite explicit, nothing to the imagination.
i was a teen when this came out,,,,kinda song that would get a young man in trouble,,,,,ha,,,,ha,,,,ha
They played this alot especially at night on the radio
Reminds me of the Eddie Murphy movie " Coming To America " when he comes out with his band " Sexual Chocolate '😂😂😂😂😂😂
No worries, Angela. I felt embarrassed for you, although I thought the lyrics were hilarious... I couldn't stop laughing.

This was all over the radio in 1985. I hate to say it but this song never really did it for me.

They kinda pulled it off it was a hit for them not as big as what followed of course
They took alot from PRINCE with there look and sound a little DEHBARGE
Couple from Isley brothers
- That lady
- Summer Breeze
I was 14 when that came out and found it hilarious even then. This was the generation when sexually explicit music was coming en vogue 😅

@user whatever. You are an Edomite, so of course this song wouldn't appeal to you.
i blame this kind of music on prince,,,,ha,,,,ha,,,ha!!!!!
I couldn't get into that one either. It was too repetitive for one thing.

yes i had the album and no it was not a great song! like every other group /artist back then the were trying to be like Prince and failed!

Slide Over is a better song
It was edgy for that time. I don’t know why your this embarrass this is the kind of music they make now.
It sounded cheesy to me. Like a poor copy of better songs
It not a good song for my taste
