These seem like great guitars. I haven't played one yet, but I did have a jam session at Guitar Center on the previous generation back in like 2011-2012, and it was such a pleasure to play. Preferred it over my CS '57 Goldtop reissue. It's too bad this new incarnation lacks the "World" inlay on the headstock. It was so beautiful and "supreme."
I just bought one of these back to the UK from the 'Gibson Garage' store (incredible shop) whilst on a business trip to Nashville. Absolutely awesome guitar. I got the translucent ebony model, but it was a tough choice between that and the wine red. Sounds and plays beautifully.
Pete you’re like the uncle my mom refused to invite to all the gatherings. Completely inappropriate and infuriating but undoubtedly the life of the party and has everyone in stitches. You are are the one teaching all the kids inappropriate jokes and the only reason why I went to such gatherings. 🤟🏽
I have my Les Paul setup with the Jimmy Page wiring: the single coil sounds aren't great by themselves, but sound really cool in series, à la a Danelectro. Singles in series out of phase is pretty groovy, too. Honestly, though, anything that can thin out a Paul in a dense mix can be handy., particularly if you're playing with another humbucker user.
Those 2 les pauls and those effects patches in you guys hands are a great combination...I absolutely love ,that tone ,those little hotter ,warmer pickups, the tonal options just sound so perfect ...The Allmans Vibe was awesome guys..not much else to say ..the Demo was just awesome. I want , need , one soon.
Played one of these in my local store today. They are truly beautiful and play and sound amazing. I can't justify the pricepoint though. I've got a Gibson 50s Std., Maybach Lester 59, Epi 60s Std and an Epi Modern. The Epi Modern comes very close tot his in my opinion. One day I might swap the pickups and upgrade electronics, but paying 5199$ CAD for this? Nope.
The way to use the Peter Green tone effectively is in the middle position turn one of the pickups volume down and then you can blend the tone. On its own it sounds too thin. Blend it and it's epic.
I was ready to buy the Transparent Ebony Burst but you guys don't ship to South America, that's very disapointing because I literally fell in love with this guitar. You guys should ship to us! It you get you a lot of new costumers!
Nice! 😎One of these days I really must treat myself to a trip to Guildford to visit Andertons! Affordable guitars are something I'm happy to take a punt on and buy online without trying - but I'd love to compare some of their higher-end guitars hands-on to figure out what would be best for me.
Lee is a very good guitarist, that being said he is like in the movies , a co star, Pete being the lead man, which is not to say he’s not good, he’s giving Pete very sweet backing and a lead from the Cap is a very welcome groove
Guys!!! 😮😮😮 Finally a Les Paul that I actually want!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Gibson I love the neck love the inlays, ebony, compound neck!! Gibson you finally killed it with this..... I have to go now to start working to make extra money to get one of those soon lol ... Thanks for the demo Lee and Pete you two are the best 😎👊💪🎸🎸🎸
I owned a supreme about 15 years ago and it is a different animal than a standard or custom LP. They aren't cheap but when you pick it up and start playing you immediately see the difference.
Was very, very close to getting one of these the other week. I had previously owned a Classic Custom then got a full Custom Shop Custom last year but sold it as I felt uncomfortable with a £4300 guitar with my abilitiy. Regretted it instantly and I ended up getting a smoking deal for one a few month newer than the one I sold last year and I'm happy as a lamb to have a Gibson LP Custom.
I've got a cherry sunburst 2012 Gibson Les Paul Supreme, modified with Seymour Duncan 59/JB pickups, brass roller bridge and brass tailpiece, gold metal surrounds, Schaller gold metal switch tip and strap locks, vintage style control knobs and 24 karat strings.
As we draw closer to the end of this year (already) you must have an eye on your Best Of Andertons and that little jam found Our Boi the Dane in fine form! I wish you'd of carried on!
The modern already had an ebony board actually. This adds the flame top, the inlays, the headstock treatments and the gold hardware but it's definitely just Gibson trying to get rid of the rest of the modern bodies they didn't sell before.
Just bought one. Sorry I couldn't buy it from you guys but I live in the States. Got the Wine Red. Got a $600 discount. I live in Baltimore, MD. Open up a store here and I will give you a lot of business. Great video.
I’ve a LP Modern and I love it - id love to try the supreme out and compare as on paper, other than the finish and extra pearl additions there doesn’t appear to be any difference? Thoughts?
I agree and thought the same. There seems to be a strange thing happening at Gibson. Remember the play authentic and return to making classic standard models in every iteration of sunburst or gold top?? The dropping of the annual release etc?? What happens when someone bought a 2020 standard 59 in sunburst and the 2022 is identical (apart from a light colour back)? Oh, let’s change some of the senior management and roll out the weight relieved models from 2016/2017 etc. take off the poker chip, put in the coil splits etc, chamfer the heal a bit, a few inlays here and there and double the price.
I had the Faded Pelham Blue Gibson Modern and now have a Wine Red Supreme. I know they have many of the same features, but my Supreme feels better, sounds better (more definition and a little brighter) and looks fantastic. It’s all subjective, but I am so much happier with the Supreme!
I agree man! I have several Les Pauls (3 Standards, a '79 Custom Silverburst, a 2022 Adam Jones, a mod shop and a Modern) and my Modern is just insanely good. I can't imagine the Supreme, or any guitar, being able to play better. I have to admit though that the Supreme looks fancy and badass at the same time. I'm not generally into fancy guitars but the combination of that and the LP Modern vibe might be a hard one to pass up. $4,000 though?! It can't be THAT much better than my Modern.
the sound coming from the strumming support is insane. Such rich tone and depth on a clean setting that rings through whatever lead is in front and doesn't lose any of its warmth and voice. Great pick ups I guess. Maybe a little hand nuance but so good!!!!!
Winning something like a guitar right now would help so much because I’m just starting play gigs and play with my band in my school, I hope I win something
Nice! I got one a couple weeks ago in Translucent Black. What an awesome guitar! I have an 08 Supreme as well, and the new one has a much more modern feel to it, endless tone options and amazing sustain. Its also well under 8lbs, and looks incredible. The build quality is well on par with the Custom Shop, as is the flame top.
It's Gibson USA Les Paul Modern with thick multiply binding, split markers, and ebony fretboard. Plus, there is a big headstock with nothing like Suoreme marking. Has absolutely nothing to do with the old Supreme model. If I see good, it is a Nashville bridge as well. No ABR-1 there. It is under the Custom Shop.
I don’t have a Les Paul and I shouldn’t be watching this because I can’t really afford one. I do have an SG Standard which I love, but this is something I would really enjoy playing except that the price is 3 times I payed for my SG. It looks fabulous, and sounds great (Danish Pete makes it sound really great) so can you please have one as a prize for someone ( hopefully me)!
I love reading Pete's face when he demo's the features on a guitar. I can instantly see what he likes, and dislikes. And the funny thing is, although I can barely play a guitar (I can almost do a three chord trick), 99.9% of the time I agree with him 😂 One other thing... @ 5:56 Pete said, "After a good nights sleep, and some Yoga in the morning". I think Pete meant to say, "After a good nights sleep, and some Yoghurt in the morning" 🤣😂🤣
Well....i see Pete's been in 'is cups again! Cheers pete! Hey what are you going for when you're "Rheting" the guitar headstock back & forth, so on.....I understand up & down, that at least effects the note.
If they were going to drop the maple back due to adding a carved heel joint they should have at least kept the no control/switch plate design and preferably burst finished the back as well. Maybe even used AAA grade figured mahogany back to slightly keep the spirit of the original Supremes. This guitar as it stands is more of a Les Paul Modern with fancy inlays and headstock rather than a Supreme.
I want a look at the bridge/tailstop. Do we have the ABR or the narrow Tuneamatic? Do we have to faff around with wrapover stringing to avoid the strings touching on the back of the bridge?
It's spelt Aluminum in the U.S. based a typo (spelling error) the ad company made in a print ad waaaay back...and so it goes- look it up the U.S has been living from a Typo!
i Kinda hope some of the latest finishes gets added to the supreme, such as the blueberry burst. same with the modern more Finishes for the supreme and modern
No matter how much I love the tone and classic shape of Les Paul, it still feels like carrying a piece of heavy, beautiful furniture strapped to my arm when I play it standing. I guess I’m not strong enough. And yes, I tried weight relieved ones.
Sadly nothing like the originals; they also had the flame on the back and I believe they may have also had an arched back. They were killer looking. That is a Les Paul standard with a nicer than average top for a massive hike in the price. No thanks.
The arch back was arguably the worst feature of the original version. I contemplated buying one of those used about 8 years ago (for much cheaper than these are going for... how the times have changed) and the fact that it had an arch back made it great to look at but difficult to work on.
I disagree completely. I own both a Les Paul standard HP and I just picked up one of these Supremes. The older supreme was a little bigger and felt boxier, which didn’t feel as comfortable as this new line. I did like the way the back looked on the first line of Supremes better than the solid black, but this new line is more comfortable to hold and play. They are not the same guitar. However, that’ said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. 🤘😎
@@thesandman775 I totally agree. It looked nice, but it felt bigger and boxier than this new line. I just picked up a fireburst one on Black Friday. I love it. It’s the best guitar I’ve ever owned. It feels and plays great- no complaints at all.
Love to see Gibson doing somewhat unique stuff again. The Henry era from like 2013-2017 was rough but there was so much good stuff from Gibson in the 2000s.
I’m sorry, what’s unique here exactly? I wanted to be SO excited about the Supreme, but it’s missing the stuff that made original Supremes extra special. What you’re looking at as essentially a Les Paul Modern Figured in different colors and with unique inlays. The electronics and most other specs are identical to the Moderns. At this price, they didn’t even give these Supremes the ultra high end Axcess neck carve, the gorgeous backs, special custom pickups and electronics, etc. Sorry, the Epiphone or Gibson Moderns are going to sue the Supremes for copyright infringement, lol. There’s nothing unique here other than the inlays. P.S. The 2015-2017 HP Standards were incredible guitars. There were some great guitars that happened under Henry J’s era. If you compare those guitars to the current Moderns, there are loads of similarities.
@@MashaT22 it may not be as great as the old supremes but at least it’s not “just another 59 reissue” like everyone always complains about. I’m just thinking back to the days of “Guitar of the Month/Week” and thinking this is a step in the right direction
I hope Gibson will listen to Pete and put 57 classic with 4 leads in the soon to come SG supreme. I think that pickup split/tab better that burstbucker pro.
Loved the intro, great stuff. Nice one guys. What’s really in the mugs though, it certainly isn’t coffee and only 9am? The Andertons Xmas party must be like ancient Rome.
The only difference between this and the Gibson Les Paul Modern is the pickups, inlays and the colours (hardware and paint)...and the price 😆. Think I'll stick with my Modern.
The Modern has "Burstbucker Pro Rhythm" and "Burstbucker Pro + Lead", which are slightly different (hotter I think) than the "Burstbucker Pro" and "Burstbucker Pro +"
I had a Gibson Modern LP and liked it, but this Supreme is amazing. To me, it sounds better than my Modern did…more presence, better overall tone and just a little brighter. Oh, and then there is the looks…damn, just beautiful.
I'm not a fan of Rim Burst paint jobs. Too bad they didn't keep the flamed back without cavity covers, the electronics used to be fed through the pickup cavity as the guitars was chambered and had no back plates for access. It was really cool construction. This incarnation is somewhat normal.
Like the older Supremes much better. Not a fan of the headstock inlay. Was hoping for better figured tops also. These look relatively plain. Pete, did you say you're into to nuts at the moment? 🤔🤣
I have both the old and new, and after seeing both in person, i much prefer the new one. Its cleaner and more striking, and I find the globe has a bit of a dated look compared to the new one, and is too small for the headstock.. My 08 is a cherry burst, 23 is trans black. I was disappointed that the back wasnt flamed, and they could have at least done a flamed neck instead, but it looks great anyway. The older one sounds a bit better to me just going straight to an amp.
I got a Gibson LP story, I saved so much money in 2008 and got a Gbison 2008 Les Paul Premium Plus in Natural color. I prioritized the looks over trying every guitar in the store. Boy was that guitar a stinker. Story goes, around that time quality issues were at high levels. I have heard good things as of lately about Gibson quality though. I love my Reverend and my Epi Les Pauls.
Loved Lee's phrasing in the intro jam. He's always had very vocal sounding solos. Beautiful stuff.
These seem like great guitars. I haven't played one yet, but I did have a jam session at Guitar Center on the previous generation back in like 2011-2012, and it was such a pleasure to play. Honestly, though, anything that can thin out a Paul in a dense mix can be handy., particularly if you're playing with another humbucker user.
There's a good reason so many bands over the years used an LP and a Strat style guitar as a pair. They compliment each other very nicely in the mix.

Just got mine a week ago, I absolutely LOVE it. I got the fireburst.
Totally agree..I have the wine red one!
The guitar sounds great, but you are running it through a bunch of pedals, or are you playing clean?
That true bypass functions as the “Nasty “ switch.
The only difference between this and the Gibson Les Paul Modern is the pickups, inlays and the colours (hardware and paint)...and the price 😆. Think I'll stick with my Modern.
Well, even the pickups are the same: BB Pro neck and BB Pro+ bridge.
Pete is just unhinged in this video! so good
Lee needs to play more. 😎
I admire your relentless efforts on this channel! » "Effort leads to excellence."
I'm not a fan of Rim Burst paint jobs. Too bad they didn't keep the flamed back without cavity covers, the electronics used to be fed through the pickup cavity as the guitars was chambered and had no back plates for access. It was really cool construction. This incarnation is somewhat normal.
Yeah. Rim burst sucks big time.
A life loving these guitars❤
Actually the grey one looks great
Nice! That is how I would put a Les Paul together. Shame they're totally out of my price range.
Especially in Aussie dollarydoos
You guys have Ormsby I think you’ll be okay!
Look amazing. Sick of the insane price of Gibsons now though
The older one sounds a bit better to me just going straight to an amp.
the exclusive 3 pu black beauty is the supreme to get
I just got to meet the boys today!
The bypass is sort of like the inverse of the rhythm circuit on a Jazzmaster.
what different custom and supreme?
Strikes me its very similar features to the HP LP in 2017
2:20 Donna Summer? Does she smell nice? Did you mean Diana Ross? Cos she was in the Supremes. 🤣😂
That's nice. Enjoy them.
